Reid Boucher has been summoned from the minors.
The Devils have Martin Havlat (lower body) and Jordin Tootoo (foot) on injured reserve, so Boucher will travel with the team to Pittsburgh. However, he's unlikely to play unless Michael Cammalleri sits because of a jaw injury. Oct 27 - 3:34 PM

Reid Boucher had a goal and an assist in the Devils' 5-4 preseason win on Monday.

"I think I have to keep playing like that," Boucher said. "It definitely didn't hurt (his chances of making the team), but I have to just keep improving every night." Boucher played alongside Adam Henrique and Michael Ryder. Devils coach Pete DeBoer noted that the line had good chemistry, so we'll see if they stick together in future exhibition contests.

Reid Boucher is looking to make the New Jersey Devils out of training camp this season.

Boucher played 23 games for the Devils last season before he was sent to the minors on January 22. He had two goals and seven points but is a natural scorer and the Devils could certainly need some scoring help. Stay tuned.
Sep 13 - 8:40 AM

New Jersey Devils have sent Reid Boucher to the minors.

Boucher has two goals and five assists in 23 games with the Devils this season. It wouldn't be surprising if he ends up back with the Devils before the 2013-14 campaign is done.
Jan 22 - 5:15 PM

Reid Boucher had a goal in New Jersey's 2-1 shootout loss to Colorado Thursday evening at Pepsi Center.

It was rookie Boucher's second goal of the season and he also has four assists in 21 games this season. Defensemen Andrei Loktionov and Jon Merrill assisted the lone goal.

Reid Boucher scored his first NHL goal on Wednesday.

It took Boucher seven games to find the back of the net for the first time. This came just a couple days after he predicted that he wouldn't need to wait too much longer before he would score his first career goal. "It was a bit of a relief to finally get it out of the way," Boucher said on Wednesday. "I felt like I was close, I felt like I was getting the chances and I was just fortunate to get that one there to go in for me."

Reid Boucher doesn't think he'll have to wait too much longer to score his first NHL goal.

Boucher has two assists in six games. "I've been playing well," Boucher said today. "There's always room for improvement, but I'm starting to get more and more chances each game and I think I'm going to get my first one soon. Sooner or later it's going to go in for me." That being said, Boucher might not be with New Jersey for much longer, given that Stephen Gionta (ankle) and Ryane Clowe (concussion) are both close to returning.

Reid Boucher will play alongside Jaromir Jagr and Travis Zajac on Tuesday.

Boucher started Saturday's game on that line, but was replaced for the third period. This is a great opportunity for Boucher and reason enough to keep an eye on the 20-year-old forward.

Reid Boucher started Saturday's game with Jaromir Jagr and Travis Zajac on the left wing.

Boucher was eventually replaced by Dainius Zubrus but Jagr did not think it was the rookie's fault. "He was making plays," Jagr said of Boucher. "First period I thought we had a lot of chances. Second period I had something with my stomach. Maybe our line didn't play well because I didn't play very well. So the coaches made the changes." Boucher was drafted in the fourth round, 99th overall in the 2011 Draft but made a huge jump last season with 62 goals and 95 points in 68 OHL games. He is someone to keep an eye on in the future.

Reid Boucher had an assist in his NHL debut on Wednesday.

Boucher also found the back of the net in a shootout attempt, which makes him the only Devils player to accomplish that feat this season. New Jersey ended up losing in the shootout despite his efforts. "A good first game. I think it went well," Boucher said. "I'm very disappointed we lost, but we got a point out of it." He logged 12:30 minutes and got some playing time with Patrik Elias.

Reid Boucher has been summoned by the New Jersey Devils.

Boucher will make his NHL debut on Wednesday. He has 10 goals and 18 points in 21 AHL games. Devils coach Pete DeBoer was left with a good impression of Boucher by the end of training camp. At the time DeBoer said that Boucher was "close" to being an NHL player. Now he'll have that chance.

Reid Boucher made a strong impression on Devils coach Pete DeBoer even if Boucher didn't make the team.

Boucher will start the 2013-14 campaign with the AHL Albany Devils. "He’s close," DeBoer said. "I thought he had a very good camp, did a lot of good things. He's close. He's knocking at the door. Really, he's only played a handful of American League games (12). I definitely think this experience for him is going to be beneficial. But I see him as an NHL player down the road." Boucher had 62 goals and 95 points in 68 OHL games last season. It wouldn't be shocking to see him make his NHL debut before the end of 2013-14.

Reid Boucher thinks he's got a chance of making the New Jersey Devils' roster out of training camp.

"Absolutely. My goal is to make the team here this season. I came back in a lot better shape than I was in two years ago," Boucher said. "I feel a lot better. Hopefully I perform this week." Boucher had three goals and five points in 11 AHL games last season. He also dominated in the OHL with 95 points in 68 contests in 2012-13. He's more likely to start the season in the minors, but he can't be ruled out either.

Rookie Reid Boucher has an outside shot to make the New Jersey Devils out of training camp.

It will be a long shot for the former fourth round pick but Boucher had 62 goals and 95 points last season in the OHL and the Devils were the second lowest scoring team in the NHL last season. That was before Ilya Kovalchuk decided to 'retire' and return to Russia to play in the KHL. While it would be good for Boucher's progress to play in the AHL and get used to the life as a pro, the Devils could be desperate enough if Boucher has a good training camp, to keep him with the big club. Stay tuned.

Reid Boucher is hoping to make the leap to the NHL next season.

"It's a big jump but it's not impossible," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "You always want to leave that door open for somebody to bust through and surprise you. He has some special tools that you can’t teach." Boucher had an incredible 62 goals and 95 points in 68 OHL games last season. He added another three goals and five points in 11 contests with the AHL Albany Devils.
