Tomas Hyka has made a great impression in the early portion of training camp.

Hyka had a goal and an assist Tuesday night after scoring twice in Vegas' first preseason contest. "He’s a very good hockey player, and he’s always around the puck," Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. "And when he has it, he knows what to do with it." Hyka inked a one-year, entry-level contract over the summer. The 24-year-old had 17 goals and 38 points in 48 Czech league games last season.

Tomas Hyka scored a goal and an assist in Vegas' 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Don't look now, but the expansion team has won their first two preseason games (they beat Vancouver over the 9-4 over the weekend). Of course, this doesn't mean that they won't struggle during the regular season. Hyka was signed as a free agent this summer. The 24-year-old had 17 goals and 21 assists in 48 games in the Czech League.

The Vegas Golden Knights signed free-agent winger Tomas Hyka to a one-year, entry-level contract.

It's worth $710,000 at the NHL level. Hyka was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, but the two sides never came to terms on a contract. Hyka now becomes the third player under contract to the Golden Knights after Reid Duke and Vadim Shipachyov. Hyka, 24, had 17 goals and 21 assists in 48 games with the Czech League's Mlada Boleslav BK in 2016-17.

Tomas Hyka scored the game-winning goal in the Czech Republic's 3-1 victory over Finland.

That's a critical win for the Czech Republic after losing to Sweden in their opening match. The Czech Republic will play Latvia on Sunday in a game their expected to win and failure to do so could cost them entrance into the Final round. Meanwhile, Finland and Switzerland will also compete on Sunday in a game that's vital for both countries.

Tomas Hyka potted two goals in Gatineau's 6-1 win over Halifax on Friday night.

Hyka was originally in Flyers' camp in 2011 but a rule in the CBA prevented them from signing him as a free agent. The 19-year-old was then selected by the Kings in the sixth round in 2012. He notched 20 goals and 44 assists last year in the QMJHL.

Tomas Hyka has been returned to the QJMHL Gatineau Olympiques.

Hyka wasn't eligible to be signed, but he did look good in training camp. He played in Europe last season, scoring a goal in 13 games with Mlada Boleslav BK of the Czech Extraliga.
