Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien and GM Don Sweeney both feel that Kevan Miller has some upside left.
The Boston Bruins inked Miller to a four-year, $10 million contract extension on Tuesday. He'll turn 29 in November, so we're skeptical of the idea that he'll develop any further. In fact, we're more concerned about him regressing towards the end of this deal. Miller was never drafted and took the long path to the NHL, only earning a permanent spot with the Bruins last season. He's someone that has been rewarded for his hard work and determination. "We’re talking about character players and he’s certainly one of those character players who in my mind could become a leader," Julien said. May 25 - 11:29 AM

Kevan Miller has agreed to a four-year, $10 million contract extension with the Boston Bruins.

That represents a big raise over Miller's previous contract, which paid him $1.6 million over two years. Miller had five goals, 13 assists, and 53 penalty minutes in 71 games last season. The 28-year-old blueliner has 159 NHL games under his belt.

Kevan Miller can be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, but he would like to stay with the Bruins.

"We're probably going to keep that between my agent and me," Miller said. "Obviously, I love this city and I'd love to stay, but we'll keep that between us for now." He saw plenty of time on the penalty kill in 2015-16 and picked up 18 points in 71 games.
Apr 12 - 7:46 AM

Kevan Miller returns to Boston's blue line Tuesday night against Carolina.

It's been a career season for Miller, who'll skate along with Zdeno Chara on the top pairing. He's also posted 18 points with 53 PIMs, 119 blocks, and 158 hits through 68 games this season.
Apr 5 - 6:21 PM

Kevan Miller (lower body) sounds like he will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

He took part in Tuesday's optional skate after he missed Monday's session. Miller didn't play on Sunday because of a lower-body injury.
Apr 5 - 11:05 AM

Kevan Miller (lower body) didn't play Sunday.

He was seen on crutches Saturday after he was injured in Friday's match versus the St. Louis Blues. "He's going to come back home [with the team]," coach Claude Julien said. We'll have to obviously get him evaluated by our doctor, but I don't suspect it's anything major." Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 4 - 9:30 AM

Kevan Miller (leg) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Blackhawks.

Miller was hurt in Friday's game against the St. Louis Blues. Odds are he won't see the ice against Chicago in the matinee. Zach Trotman, who hasn't played since Mar. 7, is expected to take his spot in the lineup.
Apr 3 - 10:23 AM

The injury sustained by Kevan Miller in Friday night's game against St. Louis was to his right leg/hip.

He left the game in the first period after being checked into the boards by the Blues' Magnus Paajarvi. Consider Miller day-to-day for now.
Apr 2 - 9:00 AM

Kevan Miller left Friday's match with St. Louis after suffering a lower body injury.

Miller suffered the injury after being slammed into the corner boards by Blues forward Magnus Paajarvi during the first period. Miller saw just 5:13 of action and did not impact the score sheet. We'll keep you posted on his status as it develops.
Apr 1 - 10:27 PM

Kevan Miller may be permitted to walk as an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

However, he isn't thinking about that right now. "Not too much. I think it's in the back of your mind a little bit," said Miller. "At the same time, you're just trying to focus on playing right now. I love it in Boston. I'd love to come back. Hopefully it works out." The Bruins have other RFAs including Colin Miller, Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow to consider as replacements. Torey Krug needs a new contract as well.
Mar 21 - 9:20 AM

Kevan Miller had an immediate impact on his return to the lineup Saturday afternoon.

Miller had missed the Bruins' last three games due to an upper-body injury. In two of those games, Boston allowed more than 40 shots on goal. Saturday Miller paired with Zdeno Chara and shutdown John Tavares and the Islanders' stars and held the Isles to 26 shots on goal. A healthy Miller was just what Boston and Tuukka Rask needed.
Mar 13 - 8:30 AM

Kevan Miller will make his return and skate with Dennis Seidenberg Saturday afternoon against the Islanders.

Miller has posted five goals, 18 points, 49 PIMs, 103 blocks and 134 hits through 59 games. Which makes him quite the boon for both the Bruins and fantasy owners.
Mar 12 - 12:40 PM

Kevan Miller (upper body) will take warm-ups and be a game-time decision Saturday afternoon.

Miller has posted five goals, 18 points, 49 PIMs, 103 blocks and 134 hits through 59 games. So, at the very least, there's good news on the horizon for Bruins and Miller fans.
Mar 12 - 12:14 PM

Kevan Miller (upper body) took part in Friday's practice.

Miller reportedly looked good in the skate and might be back on Saturday, but that isn't set in stone yet. He has five goals and 18 points in 59 contests in 2015-16.
Mar 11 - 2:47 PM

Kevan Miller (upper body) will not return on Thursday.

This will be the third straight game that Miller's sidelined for. He's still regarded as day-to-day and hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's contest.
