Phil Varone has agreed to a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Varone probably agreed to a two-way deal, but the financial terms weren't revealed by Philadelphia so that's just speculation on our part. He had 15 goals and 51 points in 65 AHL contests in 2016-17. He also appeared in seven games with the Ottawa Senators last season, but didn't record a point in that span.

Phil Varone served as a healthy scratch on Wednesday night.

He was brought up from the minors late on Monday, but didn't get to play because of Bobby Ryan's return to the lineup. However, coach Guy Boucher said that Varone could play either Saturday or Sunday this week.

Phil Varone is expected to be sent to the minors if he clears waivers.

The Ottawa Senators have waived Phil Varone.

The 25-year-old has just 10 points in 46 career NHL games, though he produces at about a point-per-game clip down on the farm. If he's able to get hot down there, don't be surprised to see him back up with the big club before long.

Phil Varone has landed a spot on Ottawa's roster going into the season.

He was productive in the preseason with seven points in five contests. Varone may play alongside Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Tom Pyatt in Wednesday's opener against Toronto.

Despite leading the Senators in pre-season scoring with six points in three games, Phil Varone remains a long shot to crack Ottawa's lineup.

With the injury to Mark Stone, Varone is getting the chance to play alongside Kyle Turris and Mike Hoffman, which has really helped his production. However, unless Stone, Curtis Lazar and Clarke MacArthur remain out of action for a prolonged period of time, there doesn't appear to be a spot for Varone.

Phil Varone amassed two goals and two assists in Ottawa's 6-3 win over Toronto in preseason action on Monday night.

He inked a one-year contract with the Senators in the summer after he finished the 2015-16 campaign with Ottawa. Varone wasn't able to stick with the Sabres four-plus years with the organization. He is hoping to land a spot with the Senators this season, but it wouldn't be surprising if he spent most of the year in the minors.
