Zach Trotman said it was a "dream come true" for him to get a one-way contract with the Bruins.
More specifically, Trotman inked a two-year contract that's two-ways in 2014-15 and one-way in 2015-16. Even still, the fact that the Bruins would structure his deal like that suggests that they feel Trotman isn't far off from being a regular in the NHL. It helps that AHL Providence coach Bruce Cassidy has also singled out Trotman and Joe Morrow as "clearly the next guys in line" for the Boston Bruins. Trotman played in two games with Boston in 2013-14 and also had 24 points in 53 AHL contests. Jul 21 - 5:34 PM

Trotman will come with a $625,000 annual cap hit at the NHL level. His deal is two-ways in 2014-15, but it's just one way for the second season. He had eight goals and 24 points in 53 AHL games last season.

The Bruins assigned Zach Trotman to Providence of the AHL on Sunday.

He, along with David Warsofsky, were called up on an emergency basis for Saturday's game against Ottawa due to a number of injuries on the Boston blueline. Trotman did fairly well in his NHL debut. He took three shots on goal and had a neutral plus/minus rating in 16:41 of playing time in the Bruins' 4-3 loss. The 23-year-old Trotman has had some moderate success from an offensive perspective in both the CCHA with Lake Superior State University and with Providence of the AHL. That said, he is not a fantasy asset at this time.

Zach Trotman has been called up on an emergency basis.

He will be eligible to play Saturday night in Ottawa, but he may serve as a healthy scratch because the Bruins just brought up David Warsofsky earlier in the morning. Trotman was recalled after it was learned that Dennis Seidenberg would miss the rest of the 2013-14 season because of a knee injury.

Zach Trotman has impressed coach Claude Julien during training camp.

"He's a strong kid who's got an unbelievable shot," said Julien, who has paired him with Zdeno Chara for part of camp. "I think he's improved immensely from where he was at the beginning of last year. Those are guys that sometimes are dark horses. Maybe they got overlooked when it came to the draft, but as their game starts coming along ... I think he's been a really good." He suffered three concussions last year in the AHL, from January to May, so it's incredible that he's even on the ice. The Bruins plan to use him in some NHL pre-season matches, but he's probably a long shot to be around by the time the regular season begins.

In his third season with Lake Superior State University, the blueliner recorded 11 goals and 21 points in 40 contests. He has since joined the Bruins' minor-league affiliate in Providence, where he has a goal in two games. Trotman was Boston's seventh-round pick, 210th overall, in the 2010 draft.
