Jim Dowd will attempt to crack to the Flyers' lineup on a tryout.

He made the team last year under similar circumstances. "I feel better than I did last year," Dowd said. "We'll see."

Jim Dowd has one goal and four points in the past five games.

What a turnaround for Dowd, who was waived earlier this month, but was ignored by the 29 other teams. Prior to that, he was a healthy scratch for four straight games. Now he is playing his usual gritty role on the fourth line while playing a key role on the penalty kill. He is still not worth a roster spot in most fantasy leagues until he can prove to keep up this pace.

Jim Dowd was back in the Flyers' lineup Saturday against Toronto.

He was placed on waivers by the Flyers on Thursday, but was needed against the Maple Leafs Saturday night. Dowd earned his keep by registering an assist on Philly's first goal in the 3-2 win.

The Philadelphia Flyers have placed Jim Dowd on waivers.

"Jimmy Dowd's been a great guy to have around," GM Paul Holmgren told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "At some point, if we can bring some of our younger players up and play them more if they're playing better, then this becomes a positive step for the organization. We can't stop progress. We have to move forward." Dow, who is 39-years-old, has been a healthy scratch in seven of the last 10 games. He has only two goals in 30 games this season.

With a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night, the Devils have taken yet another division title.

With Scott Gomez in the box for hooking, Jim Dowd secured the win for New Jersey with a short-handed goal. Dowd, who hasn't registered a point in the last five games found the right time to start producing. Jamie Langenbrunner and Sergei Brylin both scored goals on the power-play for Jersey's win.

Jim Dowd is questionable for Sunday's game against Boston as he is suffering from the flu.

He missed practice Saturday and should be considered day-to-day.

Jim Dowd did not play Saturday night against the Sabres.

The defensive-minded forward was a healthy scratch. We doubt his absence will be felt in fantasy circles.

Jim Dowd was a healthy scratch for Friday's game against the Ducks.

It was the first game he has missed since he signed a contract with the Devils on November 2nd. Scott Gomez's return to health could make Dowd a part-time player. If this is a blow to your fantasy squad, perhaps you should take up Sudoku as a hobby.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Jim Dowd.

It's a one-year/$450,000 contract for the 37-year old. He has been rehabbing an injured shoulder and is now healthy enough to be in the Devils lineup. Dowd has little fantasy value at this point of his career and we would suggest a pass on Dowd when considering fantasy options.

Jim Dowd is continuing to rehab his shoulder, hoping to be signed once healthy.

General manager Lou Lamoriello called it a possible "Tommy Albelin situation in which the player stays around the team for months until signed." Doyd is certainly not a good fantasy option this year. In other Devils news, new coach Claude Julien said that the Devils still have not decided on a captain, but that talks are continuing.

Jim Dowd has signed a tryout contract with the Devils.

The contract only guarantees that Dowd will be at training camp. If he makes the team, he will sign a contract then, which will be affordable, as Dowd made $525,000 last season. He only had five goals and 18 points last year with Chicago and Colorado. Needless to say, if he is a key component of your fantasy squad, start preparing for the 2007-08 season.

Jim Dowd had one goal and two points in the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 loss on Tuesday.

It is his first points of the second round as it was for every Avalanche who made the scoreboard as Anaheim goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov had shutout the Avs in the previous two games. Dan Hinote and Rob Blake scored the other Colorado goals.

Jim Dowd is thrilled to be a member of the Colorado Avalanche.

I'm fired up," said Dowd. "My wife and I were prepared for anything, and this is a great situation." Dowd centered Dan Hinote and Brad Richardson, and assisted on the winning goal Thursday night against his old Blackhawk teammates. We can't, however, recommend that anyone in your pool should have Dowd on their roster.
