Jason Zucker found the back of the net in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars.

The 25-year-old is coming off his best season as an NHLer, as he scored 22 goals and 47 points in 79 games. The Wild are a deep team, but he should be able to reproduce similar numbers in 2017-18. He'll only have fantasy value in deep of standard leagues.

Jason Zucker is gearing up for what he sees as his "biggest year that I've had to date."

Zucker, 25, set new career-highs in 2016-17 with 22 goals and 47 points in 79 contests, so the question now is if he can build on that further or at least maintain that level of play going forward. "Last year was big coming off a down year for me the year before," Zucker said. "I think being able to prove that I can follow it up and be better is an even harder task and a bigger task. I'm excited for it. I know I'll be more ready. In my eyes, I'm expecting a lot more this year than I ever have." This coming campaign will also likely have huge ramifications for him financially as he's heading into the second half of his two-year, $4 million contract. If he has another strong campaign then he could be in line for a big payday.

Jason Zucker, who spent a fair part of his childhood in Las Vegas and has an offseason home there, was protected by the Minnesota Wild.

There was some talk about the potential of Zucker ending up with the Golden Knights given his Vegas roots, but the Wild aren't inclined to lose the 25-year-old forward. He's coming off a campaign where he set career-highs with 22 goals and 47 points in 79 contests. "This is exactly what I wanted," Zucker said after finding out he was protected. "I want to be with Minnesota. I think if later on in my career I decide I want to go home and play, that’s great, but right now, I don’t have any desire to do that. I love being in Minnesota. I think we have a team that can win, and that’s the biggest key. It’s a great group of guys and it’s exactly where I want to be."

Jason Zucker scored a goal in Saturday’s 4-3 OT loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Zucker gave the Wild some hope, as he was able to tie the game with 5:01 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Unfortunately for the Wild, Blues forward Magnus Paajarvi scored the game-winning goal in overtime to eliminate the Wild in five games. It’s a disappointing ending for Minnesota. The Wild were a great team for most of the season, but they collapsed after the trade deadline. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of changes they make to their roster and/or front office during the off-season. Ryan Suter and Mikko Koivu also scored in the loss.
