Greg Pateryn believes he's ready to become a regular at the NHL level.
Pateryn has spent plenty of time with the Canadiens, but he hasn't played consistently. "I know what I’m capable of and sometimes it takes a little while to find your comfort level," said Pateryn. "Sometimes you have to get your mind set to get over that hump. I’m trying to play my game and sometimes it takes longer for some guys." Even if he does become a regular in 2016-17, the 26-year-old probably won't light up the scoresheet. He plays more of a physical defensive game. He has no fantasy relevance in standard leagues. Greg Pateryn potted his first goal of the season in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win against Buffalo.

He tied the game at 1-1 just 47 seconds into the second period to give him his first NHL goal. In 27 appearances this season, Pateryn has contributed four points, 27 shots and a minus-10 rating.

As is tradition, Greg Pateryn is scratched from Tuesday's match with Tampa Bay.

Okay, perhaps not tradition. But he he's seen just 11 games this season, so we wouldn't count on Pateryn for anything this season.
Feb 9 - 6:51 PM

As is tradition after a win, Montreal Coach Michel Therrien will forego any lineup changes for Sunday's match with Carolina.

Which means that Greg Pateryn and Nathan Beaulieu will remain scratched. Pateryn has seen just 11 games this season, while Beaulieu has been reasonably productive in 51. He's posted 14 assists, 16 points, 36 PIMs, 40 hits, and 62 blocks.
Feb 7 - 12:14 PM

Greg Pateryn will serve as a healthy scratch in Monday's game against Columbus.

So will Jacob De la Rose and Tom Gilbert, but in Gilbert's case he's just been activated off injured reserve and isn't 100 percent ready to play yet. None of these three players will have any fantasy value.
Jan 25 - 7:09 PM

Greg Pateryn and Jacob De La Rose will be scratched against Toronto on Saturday night.

No surprises here. De La Rose has suited up just twice since being called up, and Pateryn has but 11 games to his credit despite being with the team most of the season. Tough to forge any value from the grand stands.

Greg Pateryn, Victor Bartley, and Jacob De La Rose will each be scratched from Tuesday's match with Boston.

Unfortunately there isn't a lick of fantasy value between these three. Bartley has yet to suit up for Montreal since the trade, while De La Rose has a pair of games and Pateryn 11 games now through mid-January.
Jan 19 - 7:08 PM

Defenseman Greg Pateryn will suit up for Montreal against the Penguins Saturday night.

He will take the place of the injured Jeff Petry. Pateryn has yet to register a point in 10 games this season.
Jan 9 - 10:27 AM

Greg Pateryn will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Pateryn has no points in eight games in 2015-16. Jarred Tinordi and Charles Hudon will also watch from the press box. Hudon has some long-term fantasy upside, but don't expect him to be much of a factor this season.

Greg Pateryn will be scratched from Saturday's match with Carolina.

Through seven games this season Peteryn has no points and 25 hits, which unfortunately does not indicate he has much fantasy value until a spot opens up in Montreal.

Greg Pateryn will take a seat as Alexei Emelin is reinserted to Montreal's blue line Tuesday against Columbus.

"[Pateryn] deserves to play," Coach Therrien said after the morning skate. "He's playing well enough to be there and he did a good job and he's a presence. But in the meantime it shows the depth we've got with our defensemen." Through seven games this season Peteryn has no points and 25 hits. Daniel Carr will also watch from the stands.

Greg Pateryn will make his 2015-16 debut in Saturday's game against Colorado.

Pateryn has been a healthy scratch in every game this season, but an injury to Alexei Emelin opened up a spot for him on the blueline. The 25-year-old had no points and six penalty minutes in 17 games with the Canadiens last season.

Greg Pateryn and Jarred Tinordi are the scratches for Montreal against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Former Maple Leafs draft pick, Pateryn, was recently recalled from a conditioning stint with the AHL St. John's IceCaps where he dressed in three games and earned a minus-6. Tinordi has yet to dress for the Canadiens in 2015-16, an odd situation where the young rearguard only practices with the club. It may take a downturn due to injury to the top-6 before he draws into the lineup.

Greg Pateryn has been recalled from the AHL after being sent down on Tuesday.

Well that was quick. Pateryn now has three more games played for AHL Hamilton than he does for Montreal, albeit he's yet to dress for Montreal. And until he does on a regular basis, he shouldn't even be on your watch list.

Montreal has assigned Greg Pateryn to the minors for conditioning.

He has been a healthy scratch in all of the Canadiens' games this season. Pateryn appeared in 17 games last year and he didn't have any points.
