Defenseman Greg Pateryn likely will be scratched for Saturday night's Game 5 of the Montreal Canadiens' playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Canadiens are leaning toward returning defenseman Nathan Beaulieu to the lineup, which would make Pateryn a healthy scratch. Beaulieu has been cleared to return from an upper-body injury that sidelined him for the past seven games. Pateryn had three assists and a plus-2 rating in seven games playing in Beaulieu's absence. "It's been really good for me personally," Pateryn said. "It's been a lot of fun with these guys and my experience knowing that I can play, not only at this level, but in the playoffs and games are on the line and help out and be dependable, so that's huge for me and I think it shows a lot of people that too."
May 9 - 5:16 PM

Greg Pateryn saw just 7:48 of playing time in his playoff debut Wednesday night.

Despite his limited minutes, Pateryn finished second on the team with five hits. He also suffered a cut over his left eye after a helmet-to-helmet collision with Ottawa's Erik Condra. Pateryn is expected to suit up in Game 5 on Friday night.
Apr 23 - 4:37 PM

Greg Pateryn will make his NHL playoff debut on Wednesday in Game 4.

"We liked what we saw from Pateryn," said coach Michel Therrien. "He's a powerful defenseman. We analyzed all our options. He played well when we called him up and he deserves to get a chance. We have confidence in him. He skates well, makes a good first pass." Pateryn is getting the nod over veterans Sergei Gonchar and Mike Weaver because Nathan Beaulieu will miss the rest of the series due to an upper-body injury.
Apr 22 - 9:23 AM

Apr 21 - 12:40 PM

Grey Pateryn will return to being a healthy scratch for Game 1 between the Canadiens and Senators.

Pateryn had skated in the Canadiens final two games with Tom Gilbert sidelined with a face injury but Gilbert is set to return to the lineup Wednesday, so Pateryn will be scratched. He is just 24-years-old but don’t expect him to return to the lineup for the 2015 playoffs barring an injury to one of the Hab’s top six defensemen. Pateryn was unable to register a signle point in 17 games this season.

Apr 2 - 7:21 PM

Greg Pateryn will be scratched against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.

Pateryn has played just 11 career NHL games, eight this season, and has recorded no points, four penalty minutes, seven blocks, and 23 hits. Not much fantasy value there for the 24 year old defender.
