Chris Brown has cracked Phoenix's roster out of training camp.

Chris Brown will participate in his first veteran training camp this season.

What is unusual about this is that Brown played five games in the NHL last season and at the age of 22 had never been in regular camp. Brown had a minor in the five games with nary a point but the former second round pick in the 2009 Draft did have 29 goals (which led all AHL rookies), 47 points and 98 penalty minutes in 68 AHL games with Portland. "He's big and heavy and wants to play mean," coach Dave Tippett said. "He has probably of all our players in camp, including veterans, one of the best shots in the camp. He can score goals, which he showed in his rookie year in the American League last year. He'll get a long look this year." Keep an eye on Brown if you need penalty minutes as he will be a fourth liner if he plays with the Coyotes.
