Seth Jones has been working with Predators strength and conditioning coach David Good to bulk up over the summer.
Jones has already added five pounds, which brings him up to 210. "Physically he needs to mature more," assistant coach Phil Housley said. "He has to get stronger on his feet. He has to get more leverage, starting with the basic foundation of his legs up. That's just going to come with maturity and having seasons of working out as he grows. Mentally, I think he's mature." Jones had 25 points in his rookie season, but he was also minus-23. Jul 21 - 9:49 AM

Nashville coach Peter Laviolette was impressed with Seth Jones at the World Hockey Championship.

"To be able to help be a part of his future and watch him grow and develop into the player he's going to be is going to be something special for all of us," said Laviolette, who also coached Team USA. "For me, and for you, and for the city of Nashville, just a tremendous talent." Jones was named the best defenseman at the tournament after he amassed nine assists and 11 points in eight games. The young blueliner should get plenty of opportunities to create offense under Laviolette's more attack-oriented system.

Seth Jones has been one of the better American players at the IIHF World Hockey Championships.

The 19-year-old defenceman leads the U.S. in scoring with seven points in five games and has been a positive player despite the U.S.'s disappointing play thus far. Sunday will pose an interesting challenge for Jones. He will face Predator teammate Pekka Rinne who tends goal for the Finnish team.
May 17 - 12:41 PM

Seth Jones is getting a taste of what playing under coach Peter Laviolette is like in the World Hockey Championship with Team USA.

"He has been great," Jones said of Laviolette, who was recently hired to be the head coach of the Nashville Predators "He's a great speech-maker. He knows how to motivate us. He wants to win, and that's the most important thing. We came here to win a tournament." Jones also likes that Laviolette encourages his defensemen to jump into the rush and he's looking forward to the 2014-15 season.
May 15 - 1:23 PM

Seth Jones knows what he needs to work on as he enters his sophomore season in 2014-15.

Jones will need to fill out but that will be a natural process over the next few years as he is only 19 years of age, and wants to be more consistent a la Shea Weber, his teammate. "Consistency. You have to bring it every night and bring your 'A' game every night for the team," Jones said. "I played with Shea Weber, who does bring it every night for the team and does what he can to help the team win. That's something I learned." Jones was drafted fourth overall in 2013 after it was thought he could go first and ended up with six goals and 25 points with a minus-23 rating. He should hit the 35 point mark next season.
May 3 - 6:16 AM

Seth Jones will don the red, white and blue for Team USA in Belarus next month, accepting an invitation to participate in the World Hockey Championships.

Jones joins a solid defense core that includes the Leafs’ Jake Gardiner and the Jets’ Jacob Trouba for Team USA. The rookie notched 25 points in 73 games this past season, but struggled defensively as demonstrated by his -23 rating.
Apr 15 - 7:54 PM

Seth Jones is ready to return from concussion-like symptoms.

Jones is expected to play against San Jose on Saturday as opposed to Friday's contest versus Anaheim. He has six goals and 24 points in 72 games this season.
Apr 4 - 4:43 PM

Seth Jones will probably be back in Nashville's lineup on Friday, as he has recovered from his concussion-like symptoms.

"He's been cleared, so unless there's anything (unusual) he should be fine," coach Barry Trotz said. Jones practiced again on Tuesday after he returned to the ice alongside his teammates on Monday.
Apr 2 - 12:49 PM

Seth Jones joined his teammates for practice on Sunday for the first time since suffering concussion-like symptoms against Chicago on Mar. 23.

He might be ready to return for Friday's game versus Anaheim, but don't be surprised if the Predators choose to err on the side of caution. "He's 19 years old," coach Barry Trotz said. "We're going to be very cautious with a young guy so there's no long-term (issues). He's clear, he's alert. He's doing all the physical stuff with no problems, so it's good. We've taken our time a little bit, too. You never want to put a player at risk at any time, especially a young player."
Mar 31 - 12:10 PM

Seth Jones (concussion) isn't likely to be available on Sunday.

Jones has already been sidelined for three straight games. With so little time left in the season, it wouldn't be shocking if he's done for the 2013-14 campaign.
Mar 30 - 10:51 AM

Seth Jones experienced concussion-like symptoms after he was hit early into Sunday's game against Chicago.

He finished the first period after he was nailed by Andrew Shaw, but he didn't play afterward. "We'll get him re-evaluated tomorrow and see where he is," coach Barry Trotz said. "We're not going to put him at any risk. He's a 19-year-old kid playing in a man's game here." It's unlikely that he'll be available to play on Tuesday against Colorado.
Mar 24 - 12:10 PM

Seth Jones scored a goal and added an assist for the Predators in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.

The goal Jones scored late in overtime sent Ottawa's home crowd home disappointed and lifted the young blueliner's stat line to 23 points in 65 contests. Eric Nystrom, Nick Spaling and Craig Smith all tallied for Nashville in the win.
Mar 10 - 10:36 PM

Seth Jones will be paired with Mattias Ekholm in Thursday's match versus Tampa Bay.

He had been playing with Michael Del Zotto prior to the break, but coach Barry Trotz thought it was time for a change. Del Zotto will play alongside Ryan Ellis instead. Jones and Ekholm have played together this year already.

Seth Jones had an assist in Nashville's 2-1 shootout loss on Saturday.

Jones has a goal and six points in his last eight games. He has 17 points and a minus-11 rating in 46 contests. We wouldn't be surprised if he manages to reach the 30-point mark in his rookie campaign.
Jan 12 - 11:22 AM

Seth Jones notched a goal in the Predators' 5-4 shootout loss to the Panthers on Saturday night.

Jones began the year playing frontline minutes, but the game and experience of the league has caught up with him over the past month and his ice time has dropped. He now has points in three of the last four games, good for four goals and 16 points on the season. Craig Smith, Mike Fisher and Paul Gausted scored the others. Shea Weber had two assists.
