Seth Jones would not rule out the chances of Team North America winning the World Cup.
"That’s why we are here," Jones said. "We’re not going to back down from anyone. We’re young, not as experienced as other teams may be, but I think we have the skill to win it and the drive in the room. I think everyone is extremely competitive and we’re here for a purpose." Jones is playing alongside fellow Blue Jacket Ryan Murray on the blueline. The duo was solid in the win over Finland and that bodes well for the future of Columbus as the two will get valuable experience playing together against the World's best. Look for Jones to garner 35-40 points this season and draft him accordingly. Sep 19 - 7:19 AM

Seth Jones has inked a six-year contract with Columbus worth $32.4 million.

Columbus is reportedly close to signing an extension with Seth Jones, according to a source.

Cap space is tight for the Blue Jackets, but locking up the young defenseman is a top priority for the team. Jones was acquired from Nashville in the Ryan Johansen trade last season.

The talks between Columbus and Seth Jones for a contract extension are expected to heat up in the near future.

Jones is set to be a restricted free agent this summer after completing his entry-level contract. After recording three goals and 31 points in 81 contests and logging big minutes, he might seek a contract similar to Morgan Rielly's six-year, $30 million deal. "I don’t anticipate any problems," Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said. "We’ll find a deal that works for us and a deal that works for Seth Jones." The question isn't if Jones will re-sign, it's if the Blue Jackets will be able to avoid the contract negotiations dragging into training camp like they did for Ryan Johansen in 2014.
Apr 20 - 8:46 AM

Seth Jones will return to Nashville Saturday for the first time since being dealt to Columbus for Ryan Johansen.

The fourth overall pick in 2013 was dealt halfway through the season. "It’s going to be exciting," Jones said. "I’m looking forward to it. I was there two years, and it’s the team that drafted me. So it’ll be a special game, for sure." Jones has been a huge part of the Blue Jackets since the deal and is on the top pairing with fellow youngster Ryan Murray. The duo should be one of the best in the NHL in a couple of years if they remain together. It will be a big night for the 21-year-old and he could be worth taking in DFS.
Mar 26 - 7:35 AM

Seth Jones scored his 3rd goal of the season in the Blue Jackets victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.

In 30 games, since the trade from the Nashville Predators in January, Jones has also 24 assists while tallying 27 points. So far the 21 year-old has been a nice addition for the Blue Jackets.
Mar 20 - 8:59 AM

Seth Jones and Alexander Wennberg got on Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella's bad side for their role in Columbus' 2-1 overtime loss to Boston Tuesday night.

Jones and Wennberg both failed to properly cover their man early in the overtime period, which led to the deciding goal. "When you’re playing man on man and there’s a lot of criss-crossing, you can get beat and lose your coverage," Tortorella said. "(But) that was a simple three-men-entering-our-zone. All you have to do is find your man. Jones needs to step up on Krug, Wenny needs to have the wide guy and it’s solved, they get nothing out of it. You can explain it 10 different ways, it’s a blown coverage." Tortorella described that goal as a free one and said it pissed him off. To be fair to Wennberg, he did also score the Blue Jackets' lone goal. Jones on the other hand also played a role in the Bruins' first goal against Columbus.
Feb 17 - 11:04 AM

Seth Jones picked up two assists on Saturday.

Jones has been an assist machine for the Blue Jackets since his trade from Nashville as he now has 10 helpers in 16 games. The fourth overall pick in the 2013 Draft is a talented blueliner and the Blue Jackets have themselves a real talent on the blueline. Target Jones in all dynasty pools.
Feb 14 - 7:46 AM

Seth Jones picked up an assist in a 4-3 shootout win over Anaheim Thursday night.

That gives Jones eight assists in 15 contests since the Blue Jackets acquired him from Nashville. It's a step up from his work with the Predators as he had a goal and 11 points in 40 contests prior to the trade.
Feb 12 - 11:04 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets might split up the defensive pairing of Seth Jones and Ryan Murray.

The two young defensemen have done well together, but with the Blue Jackets essentially out of the running for a playoff spot, they might as well experiment with their other options. "Maybe we balance it a little bit and split them up," coach John Tortorella said. "We feel they’re our top two, but when you split them up you know one of the top two is going to be on the ice quite a bit throughout the game. That’s the call you make, but we’re going to start looking at it more."
Feb 11 - 10:45 AM

Seth Jones registered an assist in a 2-1 win against Calgary Friday night.

That gives Jones seven assists in 13 games since he was acquired by Columbus. He has 18 points in 53 contests overall.
Feb 6 - 4:31 AM

Seth Jones recorded two assists in a 6-3 loss to Washington on Tuesday.

Jones is now on a three-game point streak. In six games since being acquired by Columbus, he has four assists.
Jan 20 - 10:50 AM

Seth Jones had an assist in a 3-1 win over Toronto Wednesday night.

It was Jones' first point as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has a goal and 11 assists in 44 contests between Nashville and Columbus this season. The Blue Jackets picked him up on Jan. 6 in exchange for Ryan Johansen.
Jan 14 - 10:53 AM

Seth Jones was a minus-two in his debut as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jones was acquired by Columbus on Wednesday in exchange for number one center Ryan Johansen and the Jackets are hoping he and Ryan Murray will give them a solid one-two punch on the blueline for years to come. The duo played together Friday and although there were a few miscues, they could be one of the best pairings in the NHL in the near future.
Jan 9 - 7:03 AM

Seth Jones will make his Columbus debut Friday night against Carolina.

He'll pair with fellow highly touted young defender Ryan Murray on the team's first unit, which is an unusual move for Coach Tortorella to say the least. "[Murray] has been talking with me the past couple days about communicating," Jones noted. "I told him to direct me and push me where you need me to go." Jones posted 10 assists and 11 points along with 33 hits and 42 blocks in 40 games with Nashville this season.
