Seth Jones may be in line to replace Shea Weber (leg) on Nashville's top defense pairing with Roman Josi.
This hasn't been confirmed yet, but The Nashville Tennessean's John Glennon says it's a real possibility. Jones, 20, is still young and it will be interesting to see how he is able to handle playing against Chicago's top forwards. Jones had eight goals and 27 points in 82 games this season. He averaged just under 20 minutes of ice-time per game in 2014-15. Apr 19 - 9:04 AM

The Nashville Predators will play the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs.

Both teams had great regular seasons but one of them will be going home early. Both teams have balanced scoring but a lot will hinge on Hawks' star Patrick Kane's return from injury. "They're very dangerous offensively, obviously," Predators defenseman Seth Jones said. "They can make plays and make you pay if you turn the puck over. We've got to do a great job of managing pucks against them and just trying to work them down low and playing our game." These two teams last met in a playoff series in 2010 (Chicago eliminated Nashville in six games). Game one will be on Wednesday.
Apr 12 - 9:43 AM

Seth Jones scored his eighth goal of the season on Thursday night in Nashville's 4-2 loss to Minnesota.

Jones now has 27 points and is a plus-four in his second season in the NHL, showing nice improvement from last season.
Apr 10 - 1:19 AM

Seth Jones has been skating alongside Roman Josi because of Shea Weber's lower-body injury.

Jones has received his two highest ice-time totals (27:01 and 26:19) of the season in two of the three games Weber has missed. He also has one goal, nine shots and a minus-2 rating.
Apr 2 - 10:54 AM

Seth Jones scored in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Calgary.

He had gone 22 straight games without scoring a goal. Jones has seven markers and 25 points in 77 games this season. He has matched his point total from his rookie campaign and hit a new high in goals in the process.
Mar 30 - 2:18 PM

Seth Jones switched to the left side during Wednesday's practice and was paired with Ryan Ellis, who is poised to return from a lower-body injury.

"It was a little confusing at first because I've been playing right all year, so there were a couple times I felt myself drifting toward the right and (Ellis) was like, 'Where ya' going?' " Jones said. "But we'll be fine in the game. I just have to get used to it a little bit." Jones skated on the left during the early part of the 2013-14 season.
Feb 26 - 3:02 PM

Seth Jones has been solid offensively of late.

He recorded a shorthanded goal against Toronto on Tuesday to give him two markers and four assists in his last nine games. Jones has 16 points and a plus-10 rating after 50 matches, which has him on pace to repeat his rookie total of 25 points.
Feb 4 - 2:12 PM

Seth Jones tallied his first goal of the season on Monday.

The 20-year-old sophomore has seven points and a plus-8 rating in 32 games this year. More offense was expected from him, but he's played a solid game while averaging 17:30 of ice time. Jones doesn't have value in standard leagues right now even though his keeper value remains high.

Seth Jones has been paired with newcomer Anton Volchenkov early into the 2014-15 campaign.

The rugged play of Volchenkov has rubbed off on Jones. "I find myself blocking more shots playing with him, to be honest, and it kind of rubs off on you," Jones said. "He's very definitive in his play. Very straightforward. Keeps it simple and is very good in his own zone." Jones has been credited with seven blocks and two hits in three games this season. He doesn't have a point yet and he's averaged 18:40 of ice time per match.

Nashville GM David Poile remains extremely confident in the abilities of defenseman Seth Jones.

The soon-to-be 20-year old played a full season in the NHL as a teenager in 2013-14 and, in the eyes of Poile, did nothing to take the shine off the massive expectations placed upon him. "For 19 years old I'm not sure what you're supposed to expect, but he did a lot of really good things," Poile said. "I know he had some bumps in the road. I think his plus/minus (minus-23), you'd like to be better, but he went over to the World Championship and played really well; best defenseman in the tournament. He's been working out all summer. I'm expecting real good things. Just a little bit better in every area." Given the time generally afforded to young defenseman to develop into finished products, Jones appears to be on the path to stardom.

Seth Jones has been working with Predators strength and conditioning coach David Good to bulk up over the summer.

Jones has already added five pounds, which brings him up to 210. "Physically he needs to mature more," assistant coach Phil Housley said. "He has to get stronger on his feet. He has to get more leverage, starting with the basic foundation of his legs up. That's just going to come with maturity and having seasons of working out as he grows. Mentally, I think he's mature." Jones had 25 points in his rookie season, but he was also minus-23.

Nashville coach Peter Laviolette was impressed with Seth Jones at the World Hockey Championship.

"To be able to help be a part of his future and watch him grow and develop into the player he's going to be is going to be something special for all of us," said Laviolette, who also coached Team USA. "For me, and for you, and for the city of Nashville, just a tremendous talent." Jones was named the best defenseman at the tournament after he amassed nine assists and 11 points in eight games. The young blueliner should get plenty of opportunities to create offense under Laviolette's more attack-oriented system.

Seth Jones has been one of the better American players at the IIHF World Hockey Championships.

The 19-year-old defenceman leads the U.S. in scoring with seven points in five games and has been a positive player despite the U.S.'s disappointing play thus far. Sunday will pose an interesting challenge for Jones. He will face Predator teammate Pekka Rinne who tends goal for the Finnish team.

Seth Jones is getting a taste of what playing under coach Peter Laviolette is like in the World Hockey Championship with Team USA.

"He has been great," Jones said of Laviolette, who was recently hired to be the head coach of the Nashville Predators "He's a great speech-maker. He knows how to motivate us. He wants to win, and that's the most important thing. We came here to win a tournament." Jones also likes that Laviolette encourages his defensemen to jump into the rush and he's looking forward to the 2014-15 season.

Seth Jones knows what he needs to work on as he enters his sophomore season in 2014-15.

Jones will need to fill out but that will be a natural process over the next few years as he is only 19 years of age, and wants to be more consistent a la Shea Weber, his teammate. "Consistency. You have to bring it every night and bring your 'A' game every night for the team," Jones said. "I played with Shea Weber, who does bring it every night for the team and does what he can to help the team win. That's something I learned." Jones was drafted fourth overall in 2013 after it was thought he could go first and ended up with six goals and 25 points with a minus-23 rating. He should hit the 35 point mark next season.
