The struggling winger is enjoying his most productive stretch of the season with five goals and three assists in his past six games dating back to before he got injured on Dec. 20. It’s anyone’s guess as to whether the Devils’ free-agent signing will continue to produce, or fall back into a slump, but Tuesday was a solid sign.

Brunner has been out since Dec. 20 due to a sprained MCL. "I feel great. No pain," Brunner said. "When I went down (Dec. 20) I thought my knee was completely gone. Then when I got back in the room the doctor said my ACL is fine." Brunner had four goals and five points in his last four contests going into Dec. 20, so we'll see if he can pick up where he left off now that he's healthy.

The injury occurred last night when Brunner took a knee-on-knee hit from Mark Fistric. The good news is that he will not require surgery. Brunner was returning to form when this injury hit as he had four goals in four games before Friday. Reserve him for now if he is on your roster.

The Devils are calling it a lower body injury but Brunner took a knee-on-knee hit early in the first period from Mark Fistric and did not return. There is no word on the severity of the injury or whether or not Brunner will go with the team to Washington for Saturday's game. Brunner has been hot of late with four goals in four games before Friday. "You feel for him because he was really starting to play well and get his legs, get his confidence," coach Peter DeBoer said. "It's a tough break for him and for us." Consider him day-to-day.
