Damien Brunner could see his first game action of the 2014-15 season Saturday.

Brunner has been a healthy scratch the first four games of the season but with the status of Martin Havlat, who was cut on the lip for multiple stitches on Thursday, up in the air, Brunner could draw in. Stay tuned.
Oct 18 - 7:14 AM

Damien Brunner might start the 2014-15 campaign in the press box.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer was happy with how Brunner performed in training camp, but hasn't found a spot for him yet in the lineup. Brunner will eventually get his chance, but we don't anticipate him having much fantasy value in standard leagues.
Oct 8 - 5:33 PM

Damien Brunner had a bit of a scare on Friday when he was hit by the puck in the face.

Brunner ended up needing a couple stitches, but coach Pete DeBoer thinks that's the extent of the damage. He should still be available for Saturday's preseason game.
Oct 3 - 4:02 PM

Damien Brunner might not start the season on one of New Jersey's top three lines.

After a strong, but streaky, rookie season, Brunner had just 11 goals and 25 points in 60 games in 2013-14. He might do better this season, but he won't have any value in standard leagues. Unless you're in a particularly deep league, it's better just to avoid him for now.
Oct 1 - 8:34 AM

Damien Brunner refuted claims that he needs the occasional kick in the rear and says he needs ice time to score 25 goals.

Brunner had a tough time last season with only 11 goals in 60 games after coming over from Detroit where he potted 12 in 44 games. "I think I can score 25 goals. I think I’m capable of doing that," the 28-year-old Brunner said. "It has nothing to do with the system. It’s me feeling comfortable, getting in the right spots, earning trust and ice time. Getting minutes on the power play. If you want to score on a consistent basis you need to have at least 15 minutes of ice time. Otherwise it’s tough. If you’re playing 10-13 minutes, it’s so hard to be consistent. You don’t get in the game rhythm. You can’t expect players to score." That being said, look for Brunner to get 15-20 goals and 35-40 points this season with little else fantasy-wise.
Sep 27 - 9:02 AM

Damien Brunner scored for Switzerland in a 3-2 loss to the United States on Saturday.

The Swiss were on the wrong end of a pair of questionable offside calls, which negated goals in the contest. Switzerland is now 0-2 at the 2014 World Hockey Championship and they will look for their first win on Monday against Belarus.
May 10 - 4:34 PM

Damien Brunner opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season Sunday.

It was Brunner's return to action after spending two games in the press box as a healthy scratch. Brunner has now spent five games this season as a healthy scratch and this is not what the Devils were expecting when they inked him as an off-season signing.
Mar 24 - 5:49 AM

Damien Brunner found the back of the net for the first time in 12 games on Saturday.

Brunner is a very streaky player as he has shown over the last two seasons so scoring his 10th goal of the season could be the start of a new streak. He has 19 points this season.
Mar 9 - 8:37 AM

Damien Brunner (charley horse) returned to action on Tuesday March 4.

Brunner was sidelined for two games. He had an assist and was on the ice for 14:22 minutes in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Detroit.
Mar 5 - 2:38 AM

Damien Brunner (charley horse) might be back on Tuesday.

Brunner skated with the Devils during Monday's optional practice. He's been out for two consecutive games.
Mar 4 - 10:41 AM

The New Jersey Devils will be without Damien Brunner and Bryce Salvador against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.

Brunner is dealing with a charley horse in his left leg while Salvador is suffering from a bruised collarbone, so both will miss another contest.
Mar 2 - 12:57 PM

Damien Brunner's lower-body injury is a charley horse.

Brunner couldn't complete Thursday's game and he won't return on Saturday. Consider him day-to-day beyond that.
Feb 28 - 4:22 PM

Damien Brunner is out with a lower-body injury.

Brunner was hurt during Thursday's game and won't play on Saturday. Beyond that, the extent of his injury isn't known yet.
Feb 28 - 3:35 PM

Damien Brunner has yet to register a point through three Olympic games.

Brunner and the Swiss have been bailed out by extraordinary goaltending by Jonas Hiller, who has allowed just one goal in three games. As the tournament shifts to elimination games though, the Swiss offense will have to start scoring more. NHLers like Brunner and Nino Niederreiter will have to pick it up.
