Niklas Svedberg was just average in his first start with Providence in 2015.
He was assigned to the Baby Bruins Friday on a conditioning stint and started Friday night's game against Worcester. Svedberg allowed a goal in the opening minute of the contest but turned away 25 shots--Providence won 5-4. Svedberg may need another start or two to shake off the rust. He had started only one game in Boston in the past three weeks. Jan 31 - 9:09 AM

Date:

Niklas Svedberg will report to AHL Providence for a conditioning stint.

Svedberg has only made one start in January and that was on the 8th, so he could use the extra work. Malcolm Subban has been summoned to serve as Tuukka Rask's understudy in the interim.

The Devils offense was nowhere to be found on Thursday night, which resulted in a breezy 14-save shutout by Niklas Svedberg in the Bruins' 3-0 victory.

Svedberg improves to 5-5 on the year with a .922 save percentage and 2.22 goals against average. The 25-year-old Swede has two shutouts this season.
Jan 8 - 10:33 PM

Niklas Svedberg will get the start Thursday night against the Flyers.

Svedberg has allowed just 23 goals in his seven career starts and 11 games. He's been a capable backup all season, all signs point to that continuing against the struggling Flyers.
Jan 8 - 6:37 PM

Niklas Svedberg was pulled in the second period of Boston’s 6-2 loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Svedberg was making the rare start Saturday night, even more so because of the holiday break teams just returned from. He didn’t do much to capitalize on that chance, though, giving up three goals on 15 shots. Tuukka Rask came on in relief and also stopped 12 of 15, in 33:24. Svedberg has a 2.46 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. Rask stands at 2.59 GAA and .919 SV%.

Updating an earlier item, Niklas Svedberg is probable to start in goal and not Tuukka Rask Saturday night against Columbus.

Stay tuned, but be prepared to ddjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

Niklas Svedberg turned away 35 of the 37 shots he faced in regulation and overtime en route to a 3-2 victory over the Wild in Minnesota.

In 10 appearances this season, Svedberg is 4-4-0 with a goals-against average of 2.24 and a save percentage of .925. He stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings earlier this month. He doesn't play enough to merit consideration as a fantasy league goalie but watch for his starts. He'd probably be a good, inexpensive option in daily fantasy contests.

Niklas Svedberg is probable to get the nod for Boston Wednesday night in Minnesota.

After Rask just started Tuesday’s game against the Predators, it could be Svedberg’s turn for Boston Wednesday. Svedberg has been a more-than-adequate backup for the Bruins this year as he sports a 2.28 goals-against-average and .922 save percentage. This will be his first career start against the Wild.

Boston back-up Niklas Svedberg stopped 33-of-34 shots sent his way but got zero goal support in the Bruins' 2-0 loss to LA on Tuesday night.

Getting the start in place of Tuukka Rask on the second night of a back-to-back, Svedberg was very sharp in defeat. The one goal he did let in, he had zero chance on a beauty cross ice pass by Kings center Anze Kopitar. Svedberg would likely be a nice cheap option in most daily fantasy contest like FanDuel or Draft Kings when he does get a rare start.

Niklas Svedberg stopped 25-28 shots Columubus sent his way, plus all seven shootout attempts on Friday night for the 4-3 win.

Despite allowing two goals in the first, it was a good start all in all. It takes some kind of talent to stop seven shootout attempts, let alone sequentially. Ryan Johansen, Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner, and Nick Foligno were just a few of the shooters whom he stopped. In nine career starts, Svedberg now has four wins.

Niklas Svedberg will be the Boston Bruins' starter on Friday.

Svedberg has a 2.41 GAA and .917 save percentage in seven contests in 2014-15. He'll try to bounce back after allowing five goals on 34 shots in his last start on Nov. 13.

Niklas Svedberg was one of many Bruins off their game on Thursday night as the team was smashed 5-1 to the hated Montreal Canadiens.

Svedberg allowed five goals on 34 sots, and was called upon less than 24 hours after relieving Tuukka Rask in Toronto after the team's 6-1 loss against the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Niklas Svedberg was required to save just 13 shots in the Bruins' 3-2 overtime win over Buffalo on Thursday night.

Svedberg improves to 2-2 on the season, but both wins have come against the awful Buffalo Sabres. With Tuukka Rask struggling, Svedberg might play a bit more in the early goings of the season until the reigning Vezina winner finds his dominant form, as evidenced by his start on Thursday. Don't expect the 25-year-old to make too much of a dent in Rask's playing time though.

Niklas Svedberg will be in goal for the Bruins on Thursday against Buffalo.

He posted a 32-save shutout versus the Sabres on Oct. 18. Svedberg dropped a 3-2 decision to the Islanders in his last appearance.

Niklas Svedberg did all he could to tame the feisty Islanders, but his 35 saves ultimately were not enough as New York nicked Boston 3-2 in Thursday night's action.

Svedberg has provided superb backup service for the struggling Tukka Rask, but the 25-year-old's record fell to 1-2 on the year. Nonetheless, Svedberg has given the Bruins a chance to win in each of his appearances this year with a .951 save percentage and 1.57 goals against average.
