Niklas Svedberg has been placed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild.

Devan Dubnyk was the clear starter going into training camp and while Svedberg had a shot of winning the backup gig, it seems it has ultimately gone to Alex Stalock. Svedberg had a 2.99 GAA and .897 save percentage in 48 KHL contests last season.

The Minnesota Wild have signed Niklas Svedberg to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

Svedberg last played in the NHL with the Bruins in 2014-15 backing up Tuukka Rask. He has been tending goal for Ufa Salavat Yulayevin the KHL since then and might be able to win a job as Devan Dubnyk's backup should he shine in training camp.

Niklas Svedberg, who backed up Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins last season, has signed a one year contract with Salavat of the KHL. No financial terms have been released, yet.

The 25 year old Svedberg is a restricted free agent for Boston, but appears ready to test his skills closer to his homeland of Sweden. Svedberg posted a 7-5-1 record with nine Quality Starts against just two Really Bad Starts during his rookie NHL campaign. He was beaten for just 35 goals on 435 combined shots over his 14 starts and 18 games.

Niklas Svedberg stopped six of seven shots in relief of Tuukka Rask during Sundays 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay.

Rask got the hook after allowing four goals on 12 shots. Surprisingly, the Bruins have lacked consistency in net this season. Both Rask and Svedberg have gone through some rough stretches this year. The Bruins are just one point ahead of the Ottawa Senators for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Svedberg didn't factor into the decision in Sunday's game.

Niklas Svedberg stopped 23 of 24 shots Tuesday night, but was an unlucky loser as the Bruins dropped a 2-1 shootout decision to Buffalo.

Svedberg received the starting assignment after Tuukka Rask was forced to sit out due to "general soreness" and he delivered a strong enough performance to win, but he was outdueled by the Sabres' Anders Lindback. The Boston backup owns a 7-5-1 record in limited action this year.

Niklas Svedberg will get the start versus the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

Through 15 games this season, Svedberg owns a 7-5-0 record with 31 goals on 376 shots this season. Back in October, Svedberg beat the Sabres twice while allowing just two goals on 47 total shots. Including a shutout.

Backup Niklas Svedberg was the Bruins' winning goalie in Boston Sunday.

Svedberg was impressive, stopping 36 shots in a 5-3 triumph over the Detroit Red Wings. He improved his season record to 7-5-0. His goals-against average is now 2.43 and his save percentage is .918. Svedberg hasn't been bad when he's been summoned to give starting goalie Tuukka Rask a respite but he is not a viable fantasy option simply because his starts are so infrequent.

Niklas Svedberg stopped 29 of 31 shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over New Jersey.

The Bruins haven't had much faith in their backup goaltenders this season but Tuukka Rask was in desperate need of a night off. The Bruins placed their trust in Svedberg and he delivered on Friday night. Svedberg didn't give up a goal in the first two periods but he was beaten twice in the final frame. The 25-year-old's record improves to 6-5-0 and he has a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage this season.

Niklas Svedberg has been confirmed as Boston's starting goaltender for Friday's game.

With Tuukka Rask having reportedly stayed in the hotel due to illness, Niklas Svedberg is expected to start Friday night against the New Jersey Devils.

The Bruins come in with the Flyers and Panthers hot on their playoff trail, behind by just two and four points respectively. Fortunately for Boston, they have games in hand. Through 13 games and 11 starts, Svedberg holds a 5-5-0 record with just 26 goals against on 306 shots this season. The rookie netminder also blanked the Devils in January on just 14 shots.

Niklas Svedberg could be in goal for Boston on Friday or Saturday.

The Bruins visit New Jersey on Friday and they host Arizona Saturday. Tuukka Rask has played 27 of the last 28 games and Svedberg has made just 13 appearances in 2014-15.
