While the team didn't confirm it, it appears that Cristopher Nihlstorp will get the start for the Dallas Stars.
Kari Lehtonen had a busy night on Saturday, so it makes sense that the Stars might roll with Nihlstorp in a back-to-back on Sunday. This could actually be good news for Lehtonen owners because he's one of the league's most injury-prone netminders. Nihlstorp topped Richard Bachman as the team's backup - at least for now. It looks like Christopher Nihlstorp will start the season as the Dallas Stars' backup goaltender.

The Dallas Stars have already demoted Richard Bachman, so that leaves Nihlstorp to fill the role of Kari Lehtonen's understudy. Nihlstorp had a 2.13 GAA and .916 save percentage in 28 AHL games during the lockout. The 28-year-old rookie might end up getting a decent amount of playing time given the condensed schedule and Lehtonen's injury history.

Christopher Nihlstorp's deal with the Dallas Stars is a two-way contract.

That's not a surprise. Although he will be given the opportunity to compete for the backup job during training camp, there's a decent chance Nihlstorp will start the 2012-13 campaign in the minors. He had a 2.04 GAA and .923 save percentage in 45 Swedish Elite League games this season.

Stars sign Swedish goalie Christopher Nihlstorp.

The 28-year-old played for Farjestad the past two seasons. He had a 2.04 GAA and 5 shutouts this season. He will compete as the backup to Kari Lehtonen.
