Teuvo Teravainen is a late scratch for Wednesday's contest with the Flyers.
Well this is a head-scratcher as head coach Joel Quenneville will elect to bench the youngster Wednesday night. He is also scratching Bryan Bickell. Teravainen is just 20-years-old and the future remains bright despite his benching versus the Flyers. On the season, he's picked up three goals and seven points with 41 shots on goal in 23 games played. Dan Carcillo and Andrew Desjardins will take Teravainen and Bickell's place in the lineup Wednesday. Mar 25 - 7:48 PM

Teuvo Teravainen and Dan Carcillo will be scratched against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night.

Teravainen has three goals and five points through 18 games this season for the Blackhawks, which doesn't quite match the hype that came with the young phenom. It's beginning to seem more and more likely that his talent is not quite ready to blossom at the NHL level. Carcillo meanwhile has played just once since Feb. 13th, and has produced just eight points, 36 hits, and 49 PIMs in 37 games this season.
Mar 6 - 7:29 PM

Teuvo Teravainen will be in the lineup Monday when the Blackhawks take on the Hurricanes.

The Hawks traded Ben Smith for Andrew Desjardins earlier in the day freeing a spot up for Teravainen to fill Monday night. This won’t continue as Desjardins will likely suit up going forward, but the 20-year-old will get a chance to show his skills off one more time Monday. He’s posted three goals and two assists in 17 games this season and his future appears to be bright in one of the better organizations in the league.
Mar 2 - 8:10 PM

Teuvo Teravainen will skate to the right of Andrew Shaw and Bryan Bickell on Thursday night against Florida.

They'll make up Chicago's third line, and it hardly even seems fair. Through 18 career NHL games, 15 earlier this season, Teravainen has a pair of goals and four points while skating and average of 11:35 per game.
Feb 26 - 7:19 PM

Teuvo Teravainen has been summoned from the minors.

He was brought following Patrick Kane's injury, which is believed to be significant. That could mean that Teravainen will get a long look at the NHL level. He has two goals and four points in 15 games this season.
Feb 25 - 1:45 PM

Teuvo Teravainen has been demoted to AHL Rockford.

No comment was made by the coaches or management but the talented Helsinki, Finland native was only able to put up two goals and four points on 26 shots in 15 games this season. He averaged only 11:35 of ice time as well. Still just 20 years old, this gem hasn't dulled one bit.
Feb 12 - 8:48 PM

Teuvo Teravainen will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

Kris Versteeg, who is returning from a hand injury, will take Teravainen's spot on the third line. Teravainen has a lot of upside, but he has recorded just two goals and four points in 15 games with Chicago, largely due to his limited playing time. We wouldn't be surprised if he's sent to the minors in the near future.

Feb 11 - 4:02 PM

Teuvo Teravainen is treating his time with the Blackhawks as a learning experience.

He wants to learn from mistakes and repeat the things he does well. Teravainen still has high expectations for himself despite producing just two goals and two assists in 12 games. "I want to be like a top player, of course," he said. "That's what I've always been on my teams. That's that's my goal [here]." He has averaged just 11:18 of ice time with the Blackhawks this season.
Feb 5 - 5:32 PM

Teuvo Teravainen registered a goal and a helper in a 6-1 win against Arizona on Tuesday night.

It was the multi-point outing of his young NHL career. Teravainen has two goals, one assist and 19 shots in seven matches with the Blackhawks this year after he didn't earn a point in three appearances with the big club last season.
Jan 21 - 10:07 AM

It looks as if Teuvo Teravainen is starting to get comfortable playing in the NHL.

At least according to his coach Joel Quenneville. "He had some chances tonight, and I think three games in a row he had some good quality stuff, and he had the puck in some nice areas," Quenneville said. "Nice to see him get the first one there. I think he'll be better and more comfortable in the scoring areas, as well." We have been touting Teravainen for some time based on his immense talent. Now he may be getting the opportunity. Watch him carefully this week and if he continues to play well, pick him up if you are in a dynasty league.
Jan 17 - 12:34 PM

Teuvo Teravainen scored his first NHL goal in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Teravainen's third period goal cut the Jets' lead to 3-2. The 20-year-old beat Jets' goalie Michael Hutchinson with a nice wrist shot after Michal Rozsival forced a turnover deep in Winnipeg territory. Many people have been waiting for Teravainen to get a real shot with the Hawks. It's difficult to say if he has arrived for good, but it's unlikely he will produce enough to be relevant in standard fantasy leagues this season. Adding him in your dynasty league makes more sense.
Jan 17 - 12:35 AM

Teuvo Teravainen will indeed center the Blackhawks' third line between Bryan Bickell and Andrew Shaw Friday night in Edmonton.

Bickell and Shaw have combined for 14 goals and 28 points with 49 PIMs and 165 hits. Teravainen meanwhile had six goals and 23 points himself for AHL Rockford, so this line just doesn't seem fair. And Toews, Kane and Sharp aren't even on the line.
Jan 9 - 7:33 PM

Teuvo Teravainen was scratched Thursday as a "coach's decision."

He didn't record a point and had four shots in two games before heading to the press box. Daniel Carcillo got back into the lineup in his place.
Jan 9 - 11:07 AM

Teuvo Teravainen was made a late scratch Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.

No reasoning has been leaked just yet but it is not suspected that the young phenom is in danger of missing significant time.
Jan 8 - 7:39 PM

Teuvo Teravainen is expected center Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw on their third line against the Wild on Thursday night.

If Teravainen is even half as good as he's hyped up to be, that's just not fair. All three players are worth having in a diverse array of league settings. Load up.
