Coach Paul MacLean likes what he's seen from sophomore blueliner Cody Ceci.
"He's been very consistent," said MacLean. "He came into training camp with a goal of proving he belonged in the league and he's done nothing to disprove that. He's probably been our most consistent defenseman game-to-game." Ceci has been playing alongside Jared Cowen lately. He has contributed five assists, 19 blocks and a plus-4 rating in 15 games this season. Nov 12 - 11:50 AM

Cody Ceci is determined to not be sent down to the minors to start the season.

"It's no secret I'm the only one that makes sense to send down, but I've just got to make that decision really tough for them," said the 20-year old defender. "I came up (last season) and played really well, but near the end, when I started playing less, I wasn't as effective. So I need to get back to what I was doing when I first got called up." The Senators have seven defenseman on one-way contracts, while Ceci is still playing on his entry-level deal. He performed well in 49 NHL games last season, but he still needs to earn his job at training camp.

Cody Ceci, who has 50 games of NHL experience, is far ahead of the other Senators' prospects at this week's development camp.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. Ceci showed tremendous promise at points during the 2013-14 in Ottawa and should be a fixture on the Sens' blueline for years to come. We expect him to take a huge leap forward and register 35 points this upcoming campaign.

With the Senators' playoff hopes dimming, one Ottawa player who may see some post-season action is Cody Ceci.

How can that be you must be asking? Well Ceci will likely be demoted to the Senatotrs' farm team in Binghamton once the NHL season ends. The Baby Sens will be in the chase for the Calder Cup and Ceci would be a huge boost to their chances.

Cody Ceci was credited with another game-winning goal on Sunday in a 4-2 victory over Vancouver in the Heritage Classic.

All four of his goals since turning pro have been game winners, with two coming in NHL and two in the AHL. "It is a little weird now," he said. "I'm not complaining about it ... it's been a good season, but just the way everything's come together, I'm happy with it." The rookie blueliner has seven points in 29 games and he's averaging 17:20 of ice time per match.
Mar 3 - 11:14 AM

Cody Ceci was told that he'll be staying with the Ottawa Senators for the rest of the season.

The standout 20 year-old was called up from the AHL in mid-December and has five points and a +2 rating in 20 NHL games so far. The 2012 first round pick had 64 points in 67 games last season in the OHL, so he could blossom into a formidable fantasy contributor in the future.
Jan 28 - 7:38 PM

Cody Ceci has played 15 consecutive games for Ottawa going into Thursday's game versus Montreal.

However, he isn't getting too comfortable with his NHL spot. "It's just kind of going day-to-day, enjoying it as much as possible," he said. "Having that mindset doesn't allow me to drift. The main thing has got to be to focus on every game, every practice, every shift." The Senators have posted a 9-4-2 record with Ceci in the lineup and he's outplayed Patrick Wiercioch, Eric Gryba and Joe Corvo, who have all shared time in the press box. The rookie blueliner has four points, 17 hits, 16 blocks and a plus-5 rating, so he is capable of doing a bit of everything.
Jan 16 - 10:32 AM

Cody Ceci continues to impress the Ottawa coaching staff.

Not only has the rookie rearguard provided some offense from the blueline, he has also been a very steady player when the other team has the puck. Most impressive has been Ceci's ability to rush with the puck. "You keep waiting for him [Ceci] to fall off and fall off, but he hasn't to this point," said Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. "He's been a very good player for us, and a steady player for us, and part of the reason we're having the success we're having now is because of that steadiness on our back end. And we’re getting better at getting out of our zone, and getting better at not turning over as many pucks, and Cody is part of that." If you are in a deep keeper pool it might be time to grab Ceci before it is too late.

Cody Cecic is playing some very good hockey for the Senators.

He registered two assists and was plus three in Ottawa's 4-3 win over Boston Saturday night. For his efforts, Ceci was the game's third star. Ceci is also getting some time on the Sens' power play. Given that he has three points in his last three games and that he has put up excellent offensive numbers in both the OHL and the AHL, Ceci seems like the perfect sleeper pick up to us.
