He wasn't expected to make it to the NHL this campaign, so the move shouldn't surprise anyone. Dallas also assigned Hubert Labrie, Ryan Button, Curtis McKenzie and Taylor Peters to AHL Texas, while releasing Etienne Boutet, Justin Dowling, Mike Hedden, Brock Montgomery and Brendan Ranford from their tryout deals.

Radek Faksa is expected to play for the OHL Kitchener Rangers next season.

"He’ll spend the summer here with us (training), go to Traverse City (for the NHL Prospects Tournament), go to training camp and then go back to Kitchener, which is good because that’s where he should be," said Stars assistant GM Les Jackson. "He’s going to get a lot of ice there, he and the coach have a good relationship and I suspect he will take a big step next year." In other words, Faksa doesn't have a serious shot of making the Stars' opening game roster. Faksa had nine goals and 31 points in 39 OHL contests last season.

Radek Faksa has been selected by the Dallas Stars with the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Faksa had a wonderful rookie season with the Kitchener Rangers, leading OHL rookies with 67 points in 62 games. He has a large frame and is a very smooth skater. He is one of the few prospects who understand how to use his size to his advantage. Scouts love his hard-working attitude and his knack for leading by example. He will be a strong leader in any NHL dressing room. He is great on the back check and his physical nature helps him win one-on-one battles along the boards. He is one of the more safe picks in the draft and has the potential to have an Eric Staal like impact. This is a solid pick by the Dallas Stars at this stage of the draft.
