Oct 31 - 5:56 PM

Slater Koekkoek has been assigned to AHL Syracuse.

He was a healthy scratch in three straight games to start the season and Tampa Bay isn't interested in changing the lineup after going 3-0-0 over that span. Koekkoek will get some playing time in the minors rather than sitting any longer. He will probably be back in the NHL eventually, though.
Oct 19 - 5:57 PM

Slater Koekkoek will be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's game against the Florida Panthers.

It will be his third straight game in the press box. Koekkoek was drafted 10th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year-old had one assist in nine games with the Bolts last season.

Oct 15 - 5:09 PM

Slater Koekkoek will be scratched in Thursday's opener against Detroit.

Koekkoek has seen just 22 games of NHL action, 10 of which came in last season's playoffs. He has just two helpers in the time, but he posted 15 points in 60 games for AHL Syracuse last season as well, suggesting he has the ability to produce in the future.

Oct 13 - 6:55 PM

Slater Koekkoek hopes to be a permanent member of Tampa Bay's defense corps this season.

He suited up in 10 of the Lightning's final 11 Stanley Cup playoff games, while moving ahead of Nikita Nesterov on the depth chart. Tampa Bay bought out the last two years of Matt Carle's contract in the off-season, so there is a spot on the roster for Koekkoek if he can stay ahead of Nesterov.
Aug 4 - 11:05 AM

Slater Koekkoek is a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

Koekkoek participated in the first two games of the Eastern Conference Final, but now that Ryan Callahan (flu) is healthy enough to play, Koekkoek has become the odd-man-out. That also means that the Lightning have dressed 12 forwards and six defensemen tonight, as opposed to an 11-7 split.
May 18 - 8:09 PM

Slater Koekkoek has played in four straight playoff games for the Lightning.

He appears to be creeping up on Nikita Nesterov on the team's depth chart and he has been gaining confidence since making his NHL playoff debut in Game 2 versus the Islanders. Koekkoek wants to keep taking advantage of the opportunities given to him after appearing in just nine games with the big club during the regular season.
May 12 - 9:38 AM

Slater Koekkoek made his playoff debut in Game 2 against the Islanders.

The 22-year-old played just 11 shifts and 6:47 of ice time in Game 2. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and one shot on goal. "I thought Slater made plays, defended well," Jon Cooper said. "(Islanders captain John) Tavares was coming down on him pretty hard on a rush and he defended him really well. You’re going to be put in situations like that. How are you going to respond? And Slater passed the test." He has some long-term upside, but it's unlikely that he will make a big impact on this postseason.
May 1 - 11:59 AM

Slater Koekkoek will make his NHL playoffs debut Saturday night against Tampa Bay in Game 2.

Koekkoek has just one point in 12 career NHL regular season games, though he does have 10 goals and 41 points in two seasons down on the farm. Expect the 22-year-old to be shielded.

Mar 28 - 7:34 PM

Slater Koekkoek will play against Florida on Saturday.

Koekkoek has posted just one point in nine points with the big club, while he's registered 10 goals and 41 points with AHL Syracuse over the last two seasons. So there's reason to believe he'll blossom in the future. But unlikely for 2015-16.
