Slater Koekkoek hopes to be a permanent member of Tampa Bay's defense corps this season.
He suited up in 10 of the Lightning's final 11 Stanley Cup playoff games, while moving ahead of Nikita Nesterov on the depth chart. Tampa Bay bought out the last two years of Matt Carle's contract in the off-season, so there is a spot on the roster for Koekkoek if he can stay ahead of Nesterov. Aug 4 - 11:05 AM

Slater Koekkoek is a healthy scratch on Wednesday.

Koekkoek participated in the first two games of the Eastern Conference Final, but now that Ryan Callahan (flu) is healthy enough to play, Koekkoek has become the odd-man-out. That also means that the Lightning have dressed 12 forwards and six defensemen tonight, as opposed to an 11-7 split.
May 18 - 8:09 PM

Slater Koekkoek has played in four straight playoff games for the Lightning.

He appears to be creeping up on Nikita Nesterov on the team's depth chart and he has been gaining confidence since making his NHL playoff debut in Game 2 versus the Islanders. Koekkoek wants to keep taking advantage of the opportunities given to him after appearing in just nine games with the big club during the regular season.
May 12 - 9:38 AM

Slater Koekkoek made his playoff debut in Game 2 against the Islanders.

The 22-year-old played just 11 shifts and 6:47 of ice time in Game 2. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and one shot on goal. "I thought Slater made plays, defended well," Jon Cooper said. "(Islanders captain John) Tavares was coming down on him pretty hard on a rush and he defended him really well. You’re going to be put in situations like that. How are you going to respond? And Slater passed the test." He has some long-term upside, but it's unlikely that he will make a big impact on this postseason.

Slater Koekkoek will make his NHL playoffs debut Saturday night against Tampa Bay in Game 2.

Koekkoek has just one point in 12 career NHL regular season games, though he does have 10 goals and 41 points in two seasons down on the farm. Expect the 22-year-old to be shielded.

Mar 28 - 7:34 PM

Slater Koekkoek will play against Florida on Saturday.

Koekkoek has posted just one point in nine points with the big club, while he's registered 10 goals and 41 points with AHL Syracuse over the last two seasons. So there's reason to believe he'll blossom in the future. But unlikely for 2015-16.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled Slater Koekkoek from the AHL.

The Lightning needed another defenseman on their roster after a regular season-ending injury in last night's game against the Islanders. Koekkoek has one assist in six games this season.

Slater Koekkoek got his first NHL point on Monday against Philadelphia.

He had an assist on Ondrej Palat's opening goal of the contest. Koekkoekk logged a season-high 13:27 of ice time in his fifth appearance of the season. He played in three games with the Lightning last year.
Mar 8 - 10:51 AM

Slate Koekkoek has been summoned up to Tampa Bay on Sunday.

The 21-year-old defender has posted 13 points in 48 games in his second season with AHL Syracuse thus far. He's also pointless through seven games with Tampa, so it's unlikely he'll provide much fantasy value. But he's certainly worth keeping an eye on.

He skated in three games with the Lightning during his NHL recall and has made four appearances with the team this year.
Feb 22 - 5:56 PM

Slater Koekkoek will be scratched against Calgary on Sunday.

Koekkoek has seen just a quartet of games this season with little to show for his efforts. So unless you're in a uber deep dynasty pool, we'd leave him on the wire.
Feb 21 - 7:05 PM

Slater Koekkoek will play Tuesday night against San Jose.

The Lightning are going with seven defenders tonight, so we'd expect Koekkoek to be sheltered a bit as he gains NHL experience.
