Pontus Aberg recorded two assists on Thursday.

Aberg is on a three-game point streak and has six points over that span. He's up to three goals and 15 points in 47 contests this season. The Oilers acquired him from Nashville on Feb. 25 in a three-team deal.

Pontus Aberg had a goal and two assists Tuesday in his return to the lineup.

Aberg was a healthy scratch for disciplinary reasons after he missed practice on Friday. After missing two games, the speedy winger played with Leon Draisaitl and Drake Caggiula and showed why the Oilers wanted him at the trade deadline. "That’s what everyone was looking for," Draisaitl said. "I thought he was outstanding tonight. He’s fast, he’s skilled, he makes plays. He’s a pretty easy guy to play with." He has a goal and five points in nine games with Edmonton after scoring twice with eight points in 37 games with Nashville before the trade. He is worth looking at next season.
Mar 21 - 8:03 AM

Pontus Aberg is projected to play alongside Drake Caggiula and Leon Draisaitl on Tuesday night.

Aberg was in that spot during the morning skate, but coach Todd McLellan mentioned the combinations could change with some players nursing bumps and bruises. Aberg is looking forward to the opportunity if the line does play against Carolina.
Mar 20 - 5:20 PM

Pontus Aberg lost his spot on the first line after he missed practice Friday.

The Oilers disciplined him further by sitting him out on the weekend. Hopefully the youngster will have learned his lesson as being taken off Connor McDavid's line is severe punishment. Stay tuned.
Mar 19 - 8:06 AM

Pontus Aberg (undisclosed) will not be in the Oilers' lineup Saturday afternoon against the Panthers.

Aberg sustained an undisclosed injury earlier this week and did not practice on Friday. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 17 - 11:15 AM

Pontus Aberg missed Friday's practice due to an undisclosed injury.

Aberg is expected to miss Saturday's game as well. The timing is particularly unfortunate because he's been getting shifts with Connor McDavid recently.
Mar 16 - 12:18 PM

Pontus Aberg is likely going to get another chance to play with Connor McDavid on Tuesday.

Aberg and McDavid played on the same line Saturday and while Aberg didn't record any points, Oilers coach Todd McLellan thought the experiment was worth extending. "He played with a lot of fire in the first three games he was here and let the fourth one get away on him," said McLellan. "After having a talk with him and giving him a chance with Connor, I thought he performed fairly well. The one thing he has is good smarts and a shot. He’s willing to use it on Connor’s line. He wasn’t productive with it, but he did try to use it."
Mar 13 - 10:11 AM

Pontus Aberg got his chance Saturday to play on the same line with Connor McDavid when they took on the Wild.

When the Oilers acquired Aberg at the trade deadline, one reason was that he was a speedy winger and could keep up with McDavid who is the fastest player in the NHL. "The scouting report on Aberg was he likes to shoot and has a fairly good one. We saw him trying to use that shot more against Minnesota. There’s a bit more there and we have to get it out of him," coach Todd McLellan said.
Mar 12 - 8:08 AM

Pontus Aberg is getting a chance to play on Edmonton's second line.

He is getting the opportunity to skate alongside Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Mike Cammalleri to determine if he can play in the Oilers' top six or nine next season. Aberg has speed to spare and was a scorer in the AHL. Watch him.
Mar 10 - 2:40 PM

Pontus Aberg recorded an assist in his Oilers debut.

The Oilers acquired Aberg from Nashville as part of a three-team deal. He had two goals and eight points in 37 contests with the Predators.
Feb 28 - 9:52 AM

Pontus Aberg is projected to play with Ryan Strome and Jesse Puljujarvi on Tuesday night.

Aberg will make his Edmonton debut against San Jose after he was acquired from Nashville on Sunday. He has some offensive potential, but he isn't worth considering as a fantasy option until he cracks Edmonton's top-six forward group.
Feb 27 - 4:14 PM

Pontus Aberg is excited to be an Edmonton Oiler.

And why wouldn't he be as the speedy winger could get an opportunity to play with Connor McDavid as the Oilers have been looking for players to keep up with him. He gets a break as he played junior hockey with fellow Oiler Oscar Klefbom in Sweden. "Me and my agent were looking at a trade to a team that wants me and will let me use my game," said Aberg. "I haven’t really got anything done with the Predators but hope to use my speed and get more involved in situations to score some goals and get on the scoresheet." He should get that chance now. He has only two goals and eight points this season in 37 games but throw that out the window with the fresh start.
Feb 26 - 7:10 AM

Pontus Aberg won't be in the lineup for Edmonton on Sunday night.

Coach Todd McLellan likes Aberg's offensive ability and thinks the 24-year-old forward could be available to make his Oilers debut Tuesday in San Jose.
Feb 25 - 3:42 PM

Pontus Aberg has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a three-team deal.

Aberg was sent from Nashville to Edmonton in exchange for Mark Letestu. The Predators sent Letestu to Columbus for a 2018 fourth-round pick. Aberg has two goals and eight points in 37 games this year.
