He was hurt on Saturday after he earned an assist against Nashville. Di Giuseppe has recorded eight points in 14 games with the Hurricanes since coming up from the minors last month. A timetable for his return is unclear, but he is out indefinitely.

Phil Di Giuseppe scored two goals and came close to netting a hat trick in the Hurricanes' 6-1 win over Buffalo in the Traverse City prospects tournament opener for both teams on Friday.

"I was pretty excited coming in, this being my first time here," Di Giuseppe said. "It was good to get that first win with the guys." The Canes’ 38th overall (second round) pick in 2012, Di Guiseppe knows how to put the puck in the net, and will likely suit up for Carolina's AHL affiliate the Charlotte Checkers this coming season.

Phil Di Giuseppe is ready to step up his game this season as he enters the Hurricanes' minor league system after three years with the Michigan Wolverines.

The big, fast forward notched 78 points in 105 NCAA games and got three games of AHL experience at the end of last season. The six foot, 197 pounder will get a look at Canes' training camp, but likely needs to bulk up and gain some experience in the AHL before challenging for an NHL spot.
