The new deal will earn him $725,000 at the NHL level or $125,000 if he plays in the AHL. Di Giuseppe tallied one goal and contributed six assists in 36 games for the Hurricanes last season. He also had 12 markers and 28 points in over 40 contests with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.

Di Giuseppe's first point of the season, in his 15th game, broke a 0-0 deadlock that lasted more than 60 minutes. The Canes snapped a three game losing streak with the thrilling win.

Phil Di Giuseppe had a team-high five shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-0 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres.

This game was played in Marquette, Michigan. The Hurricanes were unable to get a puck by Sabres goalie Robin Lehner this evening. Carolina has struggled to score goals in the past and even though they seem to be headed on the right track as a team, they'll likely struggle to find the back of the net in 2016-17. Di Giuseppe will look to build on his first full NHL season. The 22-year-old scored seven goals and 17 points in 41 games last year. Cam Ward made 25 saves in the loss.

With 17 points, 18 PIMs and 113 hits while seeing an average of 14:16 of ice time through the first 41 games of his NHL career, Di Giuseppe has had a nice rookie campaign. However we wouldn't count on him for much this season.
