"Sammy has really stepped up his game," said Oil Kings head coach Derek Laxdal. "He can score any way — short-handed, power play, five-on-five. He’s a big, strong power forward." He has 18 goals and 39 points in 35 games in his second WHL season.

Henrik Samuelsson continued his strong 2012-13 season, collecting two goals in a 5-2 win for the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday.

Samuelsson also had four penalty minutes and a +3 rating in Edmonton's 5-2 win over the Kamloops Blazers. Overall, Samuelsson has 16 goals and 32 points in 32 games. He also has 49 penalty minutes already, showing that agitating edge that helps him follow in his father Ulf's footsteps.

Henrik Samuelsson was a minus-four on Friday in the Oil Kings 5-2 loss to the Calgary Hitmen.

Samuelsson was selected 27th overall in the 2012 Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes. The son of former NHL defenseman Ulf, Samuelsson has 13 goals and 29 points in 30 games to go with a plus-two ranking. The Scottsdale, Arizona native is a project whom the Coyotes hope turn into a solid two-way player.

Samuelsson also collected four PIMs in the win. The Coyotes' 2012 first-round draft pick is off to a nice start in the WHL, tallying 10 goals, nine assists, and 33 PIMs in 18 games. He could develop into a solid two-way player at the next level.

Henrik Samulesson and Girffin Reihnart helped the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Kamloops Blazers 5-4.

Ulf's offspring is scoring at about a point-per-game rate and his piling up plenty of penalty minutes, too. If he can convert that combination of agitation and scoring to the NHL game in the future, he'll be a useful power forward in fantasy.

Henrik Samuelsson extended his season-opening points streak to three games as the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-0.

Samuelsson scored one goal and one assist to improve his season totals to two tallies and two helpers in three contests. The Coyotes' first-round draft pick is doing his father Ulf proud, unless you ding him for "just" two penalty minutes so far.

The Phoenix Coyotes selected forward Henrik Samuelsson with the 27th pick of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Samuelsson's father Ulf was a controversial defenseman in the NHL. He shares some of his dad's feisty tendencies, so don't be shocked if he delivers the occasional polarizing hit. It'll take a while to do so, however, as he's pegged for some serious development time before potentially making it to the NHL. He doesn't have great speed but his shot makes him an intriguing future pest.

Henrik Samuelsson would make for an interesting selection by the Boston Bruins at No. 24 in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Samuelsson's father, Ulf, clipped current Boston president Cam Neely with a knee-to-thigh check in 1991 that contributed to Neely's career being cut short. Neely hasn't been a fan of Ulf's ever since, but the organization has done their homework on his son. "He was a little slow to start this year, but he's a big, strong kid. He plays with an edge," said Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli. "He protects the puck very well. He projects to be, at the very least, a top-nine forward. Some might say a top-six."
