Judging by Friday morning's practice, Tanner Pearson may line up alongside Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown on the Kings' first line against the Canucks Saturday night.

This would be a nice opportunity for the struggling Pearson to get his game going. The 25-year-old winger has scored only six goals this season after bulging the twine 24 times in 2016-17. Keep an eye on this situation.

Tanner Pearson has struggled to find the back of the net this season.

Pearson has just six goals in 37 contests in 2017-18 after setting a career-high with 24 goals last season. "I think his overall body of work, Tanner’s been OK. I think he can play better. I think he thinks he can play better," Kings coach John Stevens said. "When he’s on top of his game, he’s really getting in on the forecheck, he’s using his speed and quickness to get into scoring areas, he’s around the net a lot. I think there’ve been times this year he’s played really well, and I think there’ve been times he can play better. But, at the end of the day, he’s a top-six forward that we want playing in all situations, and we want him to produce for us." Pearson was moved up to the Kings' top line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown based on Wednesday's practice lines, so perhaps that will spark him. It's worth noting though that Pearson does have 20 points this season despite his lack of goals, so the campaign hasn't been dreadful offensively.

Tanner Pearson picked up a couple of assists in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Pearson's second assist came on a nice move behind the net to set up Brown at the top of slot to tie up the game late into the second period for the Kings. Pearson's offensive output has increased every year and he will look to continue that trend this season. His 24 goals last season were a career high. Jake Muzzin and Oscar Fantenberg also scored for the Kings in the loss.

Tanner Pearson is putting himself in line for a big payday.

Pearson's two-year, $2.8 million contract is set to expire this summer and the potential restricted free agent is sure to get a significantly more lucrative offer from the Kings as a result. After all, Pearson has set new career-highs this season with 22 goals and 40 points in 66 contests. At the age of 24 Pearson could continue to develop, so it will be interesting to see what kind of deal he gets and if he gets a long-term deal with a cap hit looks like it's balanced under the assumption of continued growth.

Tanner Pearson has seen his shooting percentage take a significant jump this season compared to 2015-16.

Pearson has found the back of the net on 15.6% of his shots on goal, up from 10.9% last season. That's one of the main reasons why he has a career-high 22 goals in 63 games. Pearson's shooting percentage may be high, but not necessarily sustainability so. It certainly isn't unheard of compared to the rest of the league as he ranks 29th in shooting percentage among players that have at least 100 SOG. T.J. Oshie is first at 22.7%.
