Tanner Pearson is back with the Kings and projected to play alongside Mike Richards and Jeff Carter on Wednesday.
Pearson has 32 points in 41 AHL games, but has just one goal and no assists in eight contests with the Kings. He's worth keeping an eye on as long as he's a member of that line, but we wouldn't get too excited just yet. Feb 26 - 6:20 PM

The Los Angeles Kings have sent former first round pick Tanner Pearson, to the minors.

Pearson had a good training camp but the Kings must feel that he still needs to play a lot and will get the chance in Manchester. Pearson was the final pick in the first round in the 2012 Draft. He had 19 goals and 47 points in 64 AHL games last season and participated in a playoff game with the Kings, seeing fourth line minutes. He will likely see some NHL time this season when injuries arise.

Tanner Pearson and Andy Andreoff each scored twice to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 6-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks Saturday.

It was a game between both team's rookies and Pearson made a good impression to stick with the Kings this season, albeit without any veterans in the lineup. After going two seasons without being drafted, Pearson had an amazing last season in junior hockey as he had 37 goals and 91 points in 2011-12 and the Kings selected him with the last pick of the first round. He had 19 goals and 47 points in 64 AHL games last season and participated in the playoffs for the Kings where he saw fourth line minutes (5:44) in his only game. He hopes to make the NHL this season but look for him to spend most of his time in the AHL once again.

Tanner Pearson made his NHL debut Saturday.

Pearson played only 5:44 minutes on the fourth line with Brad Richardson and Colin Fraser. "I was coming up to be a black ace, just expecting to skate with them," Pearson said. "I guess anything can happen. . . .If you had asked me three years ago and saying I'd be playing my first NHL game in three years, I would have taken it in a heartbeat but I probably wouldn't have believed you." Pearson was the Kings first round pick in the 2012 Draft after going undrafted in his previous two years of eligibility. He had 19 goals and 47 points in 64 AHL games and looks to have a bright future in the NHL.

Tanner Pearson and Linden Vey each notched a goal and an assist to help lead Manchester to a 3-2 victory over Adirondack on Saturday night.

With 15 points in 25 games, Pearson hasn't dominated the AHL like he did in his final OHL season (91 points in 60 games), but the Kings' first-rounder from the 2012 draft could be a pretty quick riser to the NHL. Vey has 19 points in 25 games and is finding more success in his second AHL season.

Tanner Pearson has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings.

Pearson was taken by the Kings with the final pick of the 2012 first round. He broke out in 2011-12 with 37 goals and 91 points in 60 games with the OHL Barrie Colts. He still needs some work and isn't expected to make the Kings' 2012-13 roster.

The Los Angeles Kings selected forward Tanner Pearson with the final pick of the 2012 draft's first round.

Pearson is the prototypical late-bloomer. Being draft eligible since 2010, Pearson has continued to work on his game and finally finds himself near the top of scouts’ rankings. He had a breakout 2011-12 season. Scouts are impressed with his determination and his ability to create offensive chances. He plays with grit and tenacity, and uses his size to get in front of the net. Pearson needs to become a better skater, but you can expect him to work on it. If he improves his defensive game, expect him to surprise people at the next level. The good news is that the Kings have a deep enough pool of NHL forwards and prospects to wait for him to progress.
