William Karlsson was a healthy scratch in Calgary on Tuesday night.

No reason was specified by Coach Boudreau, but the young Swede has played in 16 of the team's first 20 games and may just be giving the kid a night off. He has just three points thus far in his young career.

William Karlsson is dealing with the flu.

Karlsson didn't travel with the Ducks to Calgary for Tuesday's game. He might rejoin the Ducks soon though if he starts to feel better.
Nov 18 - 10:05 AM

William Karlsson was back in the Anaheim lineup on Friday after missing two games as a healthy scratch.

Karlsson's NHL career got off to a hot start as he scored twice in his second NHL game but with only one assist in the next six games, coach Bruce Boudreau had him watch a couple of games from the press box. He replaced Rikard Rakell in the lineup.
Nov 1 - 4:41 AM

Coach Bruce Boudreau has been pleased with the play of William Karlsson.

"Wild Bill" as one scout called him, was given a huge boost of confidence this week when Boudreau decided to use him on the shootout and Karlsson responded with a goal. "He’s a good player," Boudreauu said. "He’s smart without the puck and he certainly knows what to do with the puck. To me, not knowing much about him, he really looks like he’s going to be a good player." Karlsson is off to a good start in his rookie season with with two goals in his first four games. He is seeing bottom-six minutes at this time so we can't recommend him in most pools.
Oct 18 - 4:28 AM

William Karlsson scored twice in Anaheim's 5-1 victory over Buffalo.

Not bad for Karlsson's second career NHL game and a nice reward after the 21-year-old hit the post in his debut. Corey Perry, Matt Beleskey, and Ryan Kesler scored the Ducks' other goals. Jakob Silfverberg earned his first and second assists of the season.
Oct 13 - 5:49 PM

William Karlsson came close to getting a goal in his NHL debut, but he hit the post.

Karlsson did the same thing during his final preseason contest. "It's pretty funny but it's still pretty annoying not to get one," he said. It's just a matter of time given his offensive upside.
Oct 13 - 9:39 AM

William Karlsson was held off the scoresheet Saturday as he made his NHL debut.

The center, who was drafted in the second round of the 2011 Draft, played 10:42 minutes including 2:07 minutes on the second power play. He replaced Rikard Rakell in the lineup. It was thought that Karlsson would start the season in the minors but a couple of injuries and a strong camp allowed Karlsson to at least get his feet wet at the NHL level. He was the Swedish Elite League's rookie of the year in 2012-13 and looks to have a nice career ahead of him as a second line center in the NHL. Take him late in dynasty pools.
Oct 12 - 6:15 AM

Coach Bruce Boudreau said that William Karlsson has a "good chance" to make his debut Saturday in Detroit.

The highly touted rookie William Karlsson initially lost out to fellow Swedish countryman Rickard Rakell for the third-line center role, but after Thursday night's "goal fest", it seems Brucey may shake up the line up a bit. He centered Andrew Cogliano and Jakob Silfverberg in practice today. Stay tuned.

William Karlsson is still in the mix for the job as the third center in Anaheim.

Karlsson is battling Rickard Rackell for the spot. Rackell played in the final pre-season game on Saturday while Karlsson did not but coach Bruce Boudreau said not to read anything into that. The 21-year-old Karlsson was a second round pick in 2011 but has only played in nine AHL games as he spent the most of the last three seasons in the Swedish League.
Oct 5 - 6:27 AM

William Karlsson is competing with Rickard Rakell for the third-line center role.

The Ducks have an opening there because they didn't bring back Saku Koivu. Karlsson is at a bit of a disadvantage because he's only played in nine AHL games since coming over from Sweden. On the other hand, Rakell already has 22 NHL contests under his belt.
Oct 1 - 7:10 AM

William Karlsson had an assist in Anaheim's 4-2 preseason loss on Sunday.

Karlsson also had two shots on goal in 9:54 minutes of ice time. While those statistics don't stand out, Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau felt it was his best showing of the preseason.
Sep 29 - 9:34 AM

William Karlsson has been assigned to the AHL.

He will finish the year in Norfolk after he recorded 15 goals and 37 points in 55 games with HV71 Jonkoping of the Swedish Hockey League this campaign. Karlsson was selected in the second round (53rd overall) in the 2011 draft.
Mar 31 - 1:05 PM

William Karlsson has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Anaheim.

The 20-year-old was named the 2012-13 Swedish Elite League Rookie of the Year after he produced 28 points (four goals, 24 assists) and a plus-17 rating in 50 games with HV71. Karlsson also earned the silver medal at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship in Russia. The Ducks chose him in the second round of the 2011 draft.
