William Karlsson scored his first NHL power play goal Tuesday.

The forward is more known for his defensive play, especially killing penalties but he picked up some power play time and quickly converted. He has six goals and 13 points and like everyone else (or so it seems) on the Blue Jackets, he has an excellent plus/minus at plus-10. For the record, it was his 138th career NHL contest.

William Karlsson picked up a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-2 win over the New York Rangers.

Karlsson opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 16:34 mark of the first period. He also helped set up Matt Calvert's game-winning goal, which was scored shorthanded. Karlsson finished the game with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and two giveaways in 14:34 of ice time. The 23-year-old is currently riding a three-game point streak. He's accumulated three goals and five assists in 15 games.

William Karlsson has signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Karlsson had nine goals and 20 points in 81 contests in 2015-16. The 23-year-old is coming off of his entry-level contract and this deal has the potential to be a bridge towards a more long-term contract if he continues to develop.

Coach John Tortorella is looking for more offense out of William Karlsson.

Tortorella is pleased with most parts of Karlsson's game but his lack of scoring has the coach concerned. Tortorella moved Brandon Saad to his wing on Friday as Matt Calvert remained on the other side. "I just have to go out there and be confident and make plays" Karlsson said. "I need to try to be creative and not be scared (to take chances). Being on the power play is obviously going to increase my chances. Hopefully I’ll do a good job." Karlsson is also seeing time on the power play and will continue to do so as per Tortorella. Karlsson has eight goals and 17 points in 64 games but could pick it up a bit down the stretch.

William Karlsson had a tough night in his seasonal debut Saturday.

Karlsson won only two of 11 faceoffs and was a minus-four in a 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers. He was joined in the minus department by linemate Cam Atkinson who was also minus-four. Karlsson was acquired by Columbus from Anaheim at the trade deadline last season. He could find himself back in the press box after Saturday's showing.

William Karlsson will draw into the Columbus lineup on Saturday.

Karlsson will take the place of Alexander Wennberg who was concussed after taking a hit from the Rangers Chris Kreider to the head. Karlsson impressed coach Todd Richards with his shot blocking ability during the pre-season so he will likely kill penalties in addition to his role as a bottom-six forward.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that forward William Karlsson has made their 23-man roster.

"The other thing that sticks out for me in this camp is that he’s had some big blocked shots," coach Todd Richards said. "We put him on the penalty kill and he’s right in front of his guy, eating pucks. When you sit on the bench and watch that, it’s part of a culture thing you want on your team, that sacrifice, that courage to do it." Karlsson, 22, played in 21 NHL games last season with the Duck and Blue Jackets. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets in the deal that sent James Wisniewski to Anaheim. He doesn't offer much fantasy upside this season.

Although William Karlsson was sent to the minors, he can consider his brief NHL stint to be a success.

Karlsson had a goal and an assist in three contests during his latest NHL stint. "I told him this morning that he came in and did a good job," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "He made a good first impression. A smart player who plays a 200-foot game. You can see the ability, the talent." Anaheim acquired Karlsson from Anaheim on March 2 as part of the James Wisniweski trade.

William Karlsson scored his first goal Saturday as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The forward was dealt to Columbus as part of the James Wisniewski trade. He had two goals for the Ducks in 18 games. The 22-year-old second round pick of the 2011 draft will have a good shot at cracking the Columbus lineup next season but his fantasy value may be negligible.
