Golden Knights center William Karlsson won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy at the NHL Awards on Wednesday night.
The Lady Byng Trophy is given to "the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability". The 25-year-old had 43 goals and 78 points in 82 games during the regular season. He had the fewest penalty minutes among the top 40 scorers in the league in 2017-18. William Karlsson is a key restricted free agent for the Vegas Golden Knights this off-season.

Karlsson earned just $1 million last season and is due for a significant raise after he broke out in 2017-18 with 43 goals and 78 points in 82 games. He had 18 goals in 183 career NHL games prior to joining the Golden Knights. Karlsson does have arbitration rights, but Vegas may try to lock him up to a long-term contract instead.

William Karlsson found the back of the net in Monday's 6-4 win over the Washington Capitals in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Karlsson tied the game at two when he beat Braden Holtby with under two minutes remaining in the opening frame. He finished the night with an even rating and one shot on goal in 20:36 of ice time. His linemates Jonathan Marchessault with 18 and Reilly Smith with 16 are the other two Golden Knights so slowing down the top line should do wonders for the Capitals chances of winning the Cup. By , the Capitals have seven players who have at least 10 points but to be fair, Washington has played 19 games in the postseason whereas the Golden Knights have played 15 contests.

William Karlsson scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 Game 4 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Jonathan Marchessault made a beautiful move to fake inside before feeding the puck over to William Karlsson who buried the one-timer in behind Connor Hellebuyck for the first goal of the game. It's Karlsson's sixth of the post-season, giving him 13 points in 14 games. Vegas is now one win away from making it to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season and they will head back to Winnipeg with a 3-1 series lead and Game 5 scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Tomas Nosek and Reilly Smith also scored in the win.

The Golden Knights came out of the gate sluggish, as they found themselves down 3-0 before the game was eight minutes old. Karlsson cut Winnipeg's lead to 4-2 with a power play goal late in the second period, but that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. The 25-year-old now has five goals and 11 points in 11 postseason games. Brayden McNabb also found the back of the net for Vegas in this one. The Golden Knights now find themselves down 1-0 in this best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played in Winnipeg on Monday night.

William Karlsson scored the game-winning goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks.

The Golden Knights had a 3-1 lead in the third period, but they watched that evaporate late in the game. Still, the expansion team didn't panic. Karlsson skated into the Sharks zone with blazing speed before beating Martin Jones with a perfect a shot to give his team the win. The 25-year-old also used an incredible tip-pass to help set up Reilly Smith's second-period tally (3-1). Karlsson finished the night with a plus-2 rating and four shots on goal in 22:48 of ice time. He now has four goals and nine points in seven games this season. The Golden Knights now have a 2-1 lead in this best-of-seven series. Game 4 will be played in San Jose on Wednesday night.

William Karlsson scored two goals in Saturday's 4-3 double overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks in Game 2 of their playoff matchup.

Karlsson opened the scoring after Colin Miller's point shot took a wicked bounce off the boards, falling right onto his stick 17:59 into the first period. Karlsson then followed that up with a goal 26 seconds into the next period when he converted on a pass from Reilly Smith. Unfortunately things fell apart from there for the Golden Knights, as they gave up the next three goals of the game before tying it in the third period. Vegas then thought they won the game in the first overtime but Jonathan Marchessault's goal was taken away on review after the officials deemed he made contact with Martin Jones' stick. The series will now shift to San Jose all tied up at one.

William Karlsson posted an assist on Vegas' only goal in a 1-0 win over Los Angeles in Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Karlsson and Reilly Smith set up Brayden McNabb's game winner against his former team to give the Golden Knights a first-round sweep over the Kings. Karlsson didn't have a point in the first two games of the series, but he notched one goal and one helper on the road to help send Vegas into the second round.
