No reason was specified by Coach Boudreau, but the young Swede has played in 16 of the team's first 20 games and may just be giving the kid a night off. He has just three points thus far in his young career.

Coach Bruce Boudreau has been pleased with the play of William Karlsson.

"Wild Bill" as one scout called him, was given a huge boost of confidence this week when Boudreau decided to use him on the shootout and Karlsson responded with a goal. "He’s a good player," Boudreauu said. "He’s smart without the puck and he certainly knows what to do with the puck. To me, not knowing much about him, he really looks like he’s going to be a good player." Karlsson is off to a good start in his rookie season with with two goals in his first four games. He is seeing bottom-six minutes at this time so we can't recommend him in most pools.

William Karlsson scored twice in Anaheim's 5-1 victory over Buffalo.

Not bad for Karlsson's second career NHL game and a nice reward after the 21-year-old hit the post in his debut. Corey Perry, Matt Beleskey, and Ryan Kesler scored the Ducks' other goals. Jakob Silfverberg earned his first and second assists of the season.

William Karlsson came close to getting a goal in his NHL debut, but he hit the post.

Karlsson did the same thing during his final preseason contest. "It's pretty funny but it's still pretty annoying not to get one," he said. It's just a matter of time given his offensive upside.

William Karlsson was held off the scoresheet Saturday as he made his NHL debut.

The center, who was drafted in the second round of the 2011 Draft, played 10:42 minutes including 2:07 minutes on the second power play. He replaced Rikard Rakell in the lineup. It was thought that Karlsson would start the season in the minors but a couple of injuries and a strong camp allowed Karlsson to at least get his feet wet at the NHL level. He was the Swedish Elite League's rookie of the year in 2012-13 and looks to have a nice career ahead of him as a second line center in the NHL. Take him late in dynasty pools.

Coach Bruce Boudreau said that William Karlsson has a "good chance" to make his debut Saturday in Detroit.

The highly touted rookie William Karlsson initially lost out to fellow Swedish countryman Rickard Rakell for the third-line center role, but after Thursday night's "goal fest", it seems Brucey may shake up the line up a bit. He centered Andrew Cogliano and Jakob Silfverberg in practice today. Stay tuned.
