Hudon has been productive in the AHL for the last three seasons, but he has appeared in just six NHL contests. Canadiens coach Claude Julien seems happy with what he's seen out of Charles Hudon in training camp.

"He’s just as advertised," Julien said. "I saw him play a couple of games in the (AHL) playoffs last year and he’s a determined individual who wants to be here and as I stand here, there’s no reason he can’t be a great asset for us." Hudon scored Montreal's lone goal in a 5-1 loss to Ottawa on Saturday. It's looking more-and-more like he'll make the Canadiens' opening game roster. He had 27 goals and 49 points in 56 AHL contests last season and will be worth keeping an eye on if he does play with Montreal.

Charles Hudon scored a goal in Saturday’s 5-1 preseason loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Hudon continues to impress in training camp. He’s now found the back of the net in both exhibition games he’s suited up in. He’s now become a shoe-in to make Montreal’s roster out of training camp. The 23-year-old has only played in six NHL games, but he’s managed to pick four assists in those contests. Hudon has also been productive in the minors, as he had 27 goals and 49 points in 56 AHL games last season. He probably won’t have any fantasy value this season, but he’s capable of developing into a decent point producer down the road.
Sep 23 - 10:34 PM

Charles Hudon found the back of the net in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Hudon scored a power play goal in the second period to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time. Hudon is entering his third year as a professional hockey player and he has a very good chance of cracking Montreal's roster. He's currently on a line with Tomas Plekanec and Artturi Lehkonen. He's a small, shifty offensive threat, but he won't have any value in standard fantasy leagues.

Updating the information on Charles Hudon's recently inked two-year contract, it's a two-way deal in 2017-18 and then one-way in 2018-19.

Montreal's initial report suggested that it was a one-way contract for both seasons, but the Canadiens have issued a correction. It's relevant because it gives the team some more flexibility to send Hudon to the AHL next season. He excelled in 2016-17 though with 27 goals and 49 points in 56 AHL contests and might make the Canadiens regardless of the terms of his contract.
Jun 15 - 5:20 PM

Charles Hudon has signed a two-year, one-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The fact that it's one-way does suggest that Hudon will start the 2017-18 campaign with Montreal, though of course nothing is guaranteed. He had 27 goals and 49 points in 56 AHL contests last season. He's also appeared in six career NHL games and has four assists over that span.

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Charles Hudon will be scratched for their game against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.

It will be the first time Hudon is scratched this season after picking up one assist in two games since being recalled from the AHL. Joining him as a healthy scratch is Greg Pateryn. Both Hudon and Pateryn carry no fantasy value.

Charles Hudon registered an assist in Montreal's 3-2 loss to Carolina on Friday night.

He helped set up Jeff Petry's goal in the second period. Hudon was recalled from the minors on Thursday afternoon and ended up making his season debut last night. He skated on the fourth line with Torrey Mitchell and Daniel Carr, but also got some time on the man-advantage. At the time of his recall, Hudon was lighting up in the minors (14 points in 15 games). He definitely has offensive upside, but until he gets more even-strength ice time, he won't be worth adding in standard fantasy leagues.
