Coach Dave Tippett was pleased with the play of Jordan Martinook this past season.

Martinook was a bottom six forward this season but did many things well including killing penalties. "My last meeting with my junior coach, he said, ‘You scored 40 goals but if you make it to the NHL, you’re probably not going to be a 40-goal scorer or even a 30-goal scorer,’" Martinook said. "So you definitely gotta figure out what’s going to keep you in the NHL." Martinook was taken 58th overall in 2012 and had eight goals and 24 points this season but slumped in the second half with only a goal and five points in 31 games.

The second round (58th overall) pick in the 2012 Draft played eight games last season but was a full time member in 2015-16 as he had eight goals and 24 points in 81 games. He slumped offensively the last couple of months of the season as he had only a goal and five points in his last 31 games but his overall effort pleased the Coyotes as he was a good bottom-six forward.
