Damon Severson (ankle) could return to the New Jersey lineup as early as Tuesday.
By the time Tuesday rolls around Severson will have missed 31 games. He got off to a great start and led the Devils in power play time on ice before his injury so look for him to regain his spot on the point eventually. "It feels like it's soon. My body, as far as the ankle, is healed. My conditioning is just a step off," Severson said. "I need those few extra days of conditioning to make sure I'm back up to speed. "I'm just waiting to get back. It's been a long wait. Every day it's gotten a little better. I haven't had any setbacks or anything like that, so that's been a positive for me." Stay tuned as Severson had four goals and 12 points in 32 games with six assists on the power play before getting hurt on December 15. Feb 28 - 8:10 AM

Date:

Damon Severson (ankle) isn't expected to return to the Devils' lineup in the near future.

Severson resumed skating a little over a week ago, but Devils GM Lou Lamoriello warned that he'll still be out for "a while." Severson hasn't played since Dec. 15 and with less than two months left in the season, we aren't confident that he'll return in time to have much of an impact from a fantasy perspective.
Feb 20 - 7:46 AM

Damon Severson (ankle) isn't ready to practice with his teammates yet.

"It's just the situation of getting him back in shape," Lamoriello said. "He's been off the ice for eight weeks and unfortunately with that type of an injury, unlike Stephen Gionta (who was sidelined with a fractured left hand), you can't start skating too early." Severson hasn't played since Dec. 15, but has been skating on his own for a more than a week.
Feb 18 - 3:21 PM

Damon Severson (ankle) won't travel with the New Jersey Devils on their upcoming two-game road trip.

The Devils will play in Chicago on Friday and Nashville on Saturday. Severson has resumed skating, but he still need to work on his conditioning. It's possible that he'll have a brief stint in the AHL before returning to the Devils' lineup.
Feb 12 - 9:26 AM

Damon Severson (ankle) has been given the green light to resume skating.

The call was made after he had an X-ray done on his fractured left ankle. At this point, he needs to focus on getting his conditioning back up after missing roughly two months of action. To that end, he might go through a stint in the AHL before playing for the Devils again. He has four goals and 12 points in 32 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 10 - 4:19 PM

Damon Severson (ankle) might resume skating next week.

Severson had an X-ray this week and if a followup X-ray determines that he's still healing at the same pace, then he'll be back on the ice soon. He has four goals and 12 points in 32 contests this season.
Feb 6 - 10:11 AM

Damon Severson had another X-ray on his ankle this week.

"He's going to come out of the walking cast and just be put in a boot now," said GM and interim coach Lou Lamoriello. "It will be at least another two to three weeks (before he starts skating)." Severson has been out of action since Dec. 15 because of a non-displaced fracture in his left ankle.
Jan 22 - 5:42 PM

Damon Severson has been placed on the injured reserve list with a hairline fracture in his ankle.

Severson is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks due to the injury. He was moved to the injured reserve list to make room for Adam Larsson (mumps), who has been sent to AHL Albany for a conditioning stint.

Damon Severson will be sidelined for four-to-five weeks because of a hairline fracture in his ankle.

He was hit by a shot back on Dec. 6 game against Washington and he had been playing through some soreness. Severson didn't play Wednesday after his ankle swelled up and so he finally went for X-rays.

Damon Severson didn't play on Wednesday due to a lower-body injury.

Severson was able to take part in the morning skate and pregame warmups, but the Devils announced at the last minute that he wouldn't participate in the contest. He has apparently been dealing with this injury for a while and it apparently got to the point where it was decided that he wouldn't continue to play through it. Seth Helgeson played after initially being penciled in as a healthy scratch.

Damon Severson had an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss on Tuesday.

Severson now has four goals and 11 points in 29 contests in 2014-15. That's good for second place among rookie defensemen, behind only 2014 first overall pick Aaron Ekblad.

Damon Severson is tied for second among rookies with seven points in eight games.

That's especially impressive given that Severson is a defenseman. Severson has more than doubled the point total of the next best rookie blueliner. Naturally, it's still very early in the season, but he's emerged as a legitimate contender for the Calder Trophy. If nothing else, he's worth taking a chance on in standard leagues.

Defenseman Damon Severson continued his hot start with a goal and an assist on Saturday.

We have been touting him all season and some of you are listening as he has gone from being owned in 16 percent of Yahoo pools eight days ago to 51 percent as of this writing. The rookie defenseman has four goals and seven points in eight games with a plus-six rating. "He’s playing the game like he’s been in the league for 10 years," Jaromir Jagr told NJ Advance Media. "He tries stuff that a veteran would try and if he doesn’t make it, he’s going to try it again next shift. Sometimes that’s an advantage kids have. They don’t feel the pressure. They don’t feel the fear. I was the same way. You don’t think what might happen. You just play the game." What are you looking and waiting for?

Rookie Damon Severson is not only off to a great offensive start, but has also been terrific defensively.

Severson is the surprise of the young NHL season as the 20-year-old defenseman has three goals and four points in four games with all four coming on the road as the Devils have their home opener on Saturday. Severson is a must-own early on and with his ownership rate at only 16 percent in Yahoo leagues, there should be an awful lot of claiming going on today.

Damon Severson was the lone bright spot for the Devils on Thursday night, firing home both New Jersey goals in a 6-2 loss to Washington.

The rookie has simply been outstanding through the first four games of his NHL career with three goals and four points. The 20-year-old offensive defenseman is definitely a young gun to have on your radar going forward, as he seems to be running with his chance to play in the NHL.
