Nikita Kucherov extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to New Jersey.

Nikita Kucherov scored a pair of goals in Monday's 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

After Tyler Johnson opened the scoring at the 9:15 mark of the first period, Kucherov made it 2-0 less than two minutes later. The Russian winger then scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period which proved to be the game-winner. Kucherov finished the game with a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, a team-high six shots on goal in 20:50 of ice time. He's now scored at least one goal in each of Tampa Bay's first six games. Kucherov has seven goals and 10 points in six games. He's one of the elite offensive players in the league right now.

Nikita Kucherov is the first Tampa Bay player to ever open a season by finding the back of the net in five straight contests.

Kucherov's goal on Saturday also proved to be the game winner against St. Louis. He's recorded three assists this season in addition to his five goals. His hot start has been overshadowed by Washington's Alex Ovechkin, who has an amazing nine goals in six contests, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Kucherov be a serious contender for the Rocket Richard Trophy throughout the campaign. He had 40 goals last season and the 24-year-old might be able to build on that.

Nikita Kucherov was reunited with Steven Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov on the first day of full practices at training camp.

The trio was very productive at the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign until Stamkos got hurt. "I think sometimes we think the same way. You can see it on the ice. I always know where Stammer is going to be, and I'm sure he knows where I'm going to be," said Kucherov. "It's just so much fun playing with him. Every time he has the puck on his stick ... if you're open, he's going to find you."

Nikita Kucherov is just thinking about the upcoming season.

Kucherov's agent, Dan Milstein, said that his client isn't concerned with his next contract or with any lingering issues from harsh comments he had for some teammates at the end of the 2016-17 season. Kucherov spoke with Tampa Bay GM Steve Yzerman about his criticisms and feels they are on the same page, according to Milstein. "He hopes to have a redo this year, and that everyone stays healthy," said Kucherov's agent. "He feels this is the year for them to win the Cup. He's very excited." Milstein also thinks that it's too early to talk about the star winger's next contract. Kucherov still has two seasons remaining on his deal and he wants to stay with the team long-term.

Nikita Kucherov will have much more leverage going into his next contract negotiations.

Kucherov agreed to a three-year, $14.3 million contract last October. He will have arbitration rights at the end of the 2018-19 campaign and the Lightning will be looking to buy up some years of unrestricted free agency. Kucherov is earning $4.767 million per year and that number could come close to doubling in value. Steven Stamkos is the highest-paid player on the team at $8.5 million per season.

Nikita Kucherov is tied for second in the 2017 World Hockey Championship scoring race.

He has tallied 11 points, including five goals, in six games for Russia. Kucherov had a goal and two helpers in Monday's 5-0 win over Latvia. Russia and the U.S. will play for first place in Group A on Tuesday.

Nikita Kucherov had some choice words for some of his Tampa Bay teammates when he spoke to Sovietsky Sport.

"Some guys overstayed in team," said Kucherov, per translation. "They've got their money and stopped working. They knew there's no competition for their positions and the organization is not going to take someone else. They played not really well this year. You can see it in their stats and way of play. When we played together and I made a pass, they even were not expecting this. That's why this season was hard for me despite good stats." Kucherov also didn't like how often changes were made to lines after Steven Stamkos was injured. He had a great year in 2016-17 with 40 goals and 85 points in 74 games, but the Lightning failed to make the playoffs.
