Nikita Kucherov netted the game-winning goal in Game 5 to send Tampa Bay into the second round and eliminate the New Jersey Devils.

Kucherov first got on the scoresheet with a primary assist on J.T. Miller's first of the post-season. The Russian forward then scored the game-winner less than four minutes later with a quick shot from the slot before adding another goal into an empty net. Despite the big night offensively, all anybody will be talking about is high hit he committed on New Jersey's Sami Vatanen that went unpunished and forced the Finnish defenseman out of the game. It could something for the league to review before Game 5 on Saturday.

Kucherov threw the puck on net and New Jersey's Sami Vatanen intercepted it but put it into his own net for the own goal. Kucherov also picked up a couple of assists on two power play goals by Alex Killorn. The Russian forward has two goals and four points through the first two games of the post-season and 46 points in 47 career playoff games. The series heads over to New Jersey with the Lightning holding a 2-0 lead.

The two-point effort allowed the Russian forward to hit the 100-point mark for the first time in his NHL career. Kucherov became the third Lightning player in franchise history to hit that milestone (Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis are the other two). He now has 39 goals and 61 assists in 79 games this season. The Lightning can also clinch their division with a victory over Carolina on Saturday night.
