Ryan Pulock potted a power-play goal for the Islanders, who fell 5-3 to the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Pulock is aiming to crack the Day 1 lineup after recording 17 goals and 29 points in 54 AHL Games. Blessed with a booming slap shot, Pulock could make an impact if he gets time with the NHL club this year. Ryan Strome and John Tavares scored the other goals.

Ryan Pulock might make his NHL debut in Game 6 of the Islanders' series against Washington on Saturday.

It's not an ideal time to put Pulock in his first game, but Calvin De Haan is now injured in addition to Lubomir Visnovsky. With the Islanders' defense depleted, they need all the help they can get. Pulock was taken with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He had 17 goals and 29 points in 54 contests with the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2014-15.

The New York Islanders sent Ryan Pulock back to the AHL on Saturday.

They essentially called him up for insurance, but with Lubomir Visnovsky's health seemingly improving, they don't need Pulock.

Ryan Pulock will meet up with the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Pulock has eight goals and 13 points in 20 AHL games this season. The Islanders can use the help given that defensemen Lubomir Visnovsky, Johnny Boychuk, Travis Hamonic, and Matt Carkner are all sidelined.

The New York Islanders might summon Ryan Pulock.

Defensemen Johnny Boychuk and Lubomir Visnovsky are day-to-day with upper-body injuries and that's created a temporary opening Pulock might take advantage of. Pulock had a strong training camp and has followed it up with 13 points in 20 AHL contests.

Ryan Pulock was back on the ice Friday after suffering a lower body injury.

He only practiced briefly with the team. Pulock was selected with the 15th pick in the 2013 Draft and has a shot to crack the lineup although a minor league stint will certainly aid in his growth as a defenseman. Pulock has a big shot and is reliable defensively so we can see the defenseman being a viable fantasy pick in a couple of years.

Defenseman Ryan Pulock has been impressive in training camp thus far.

The defenseman was taken with the 15th pick in the 2013 Draft and seemingly has passed 2012 first round pick Griffin Reinhart on the depth charts. "What I liked tonight is that he got involved in the offense," coach Jack Capuano said Friday. "There are a lot of guys that, when they get the puck on their stick, they want to make the safe play and a lot of times that's the right thing to do, but tonight he shot a lot of pucks and that's what we are looking for on our power play." Pulock had 23 goals and 40 assists with Brandon of the WHL. He should start the season in the AHL but he could break with the team. He is worth a late round pick in keeper leagues.

Look for defenseman Ryan Pulock to start the season with Bridgeport of the AHL in 2014-15.

Pulock was selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Pulock is a solid defenseman with some offensive capabilities, as he had 23 goals and 63 points in 66 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. Look for him to spend the season with Bridgeport, possibly getting a callup late in the season before being a likely contender for a job on the Islanders blueline in 2015-16.

Ryan Pulock has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the New York Islanders.

He amassed 14 goals and 31 assists in 61 games last season for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL last season. Pulock was selected with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The New York Islanders are impressed with Ryan Pulock's ability to create offense from the back end.

"He's a good young defenseman, can create offense, plays the game the right way, plays hard in front of his net," GM Garth Snow said. "We just really love his offensive flair." Pulock registered 14 goals and 45 points in 61 games for Brandon of the WHL this past campaign. He hopes to compete for an NHL job within a couple of seasons.

The Islanders have selected Ryan Pulock with the 15th overall pick of the amateur entry draft.

Pulock’s character alone makes him an NHL prospect. The fact that he contributes offensively, is reliable defensively and understands how to think and play the game makes him one of the best in this draft class. Pulock has an explosive shot and projects as an offensive defenseman as his 105 points in 132 WHL games over two seasons attests. What makes that point total even more impressive is that Pulock had little offensive support and battled multiple injuries last season. Although he’s not very flashy, physically intimidating or elite in his skating or puck moving abilities, his guts, tenacity and offence will be welcomed on the Islander blueline within the next two years.

Ryan Pulock, captain of the Brandon Wheat Kings, continues to be a steady force on the Wheat Kings' blueline both offensively and defensively.

The 6'1, 211 pound rock from Grandview, Manitoba has put up 29 points in 29 games so far this season and is a +13. The 18-year-old is poised to be a highly regarded commodity on draft day 2013.
