Trevor Carrick has gotten bigger and stronger this off-season.

Carrick's weight dropped to 180 pounds during his time in the AHL last year, but now says he's feeling great at 205 pounds. My goal this year is to try and maintain that," Carrick said of his weight. "I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’m feeling really good, feeling big and strong. It’s going to be a competitive camp but I’m very excited for it. I have to bring my best and hopefully I can." The 22-year-old played two games with the Hurricanes last season and he'll hope to become a regular in 2016-17.

The 21 year old made his NHL debut on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. So far, he has only racked up a -1 rating in over 16:30 minutes of ice time in his two starts. In the AHL, with the Charlotte Checkers, he has posted nine goals and 37 points in 58 games this season.

Trevor Carrick has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Carrick has 27 points and 57 penalty minutes in 35 OHL games this season. "Trevor had a strong training camp with the Hurricanes and has excelled in the OHL this season," said Hurricanes vice president Ron Francis. "He has good size and toughness and has developed the offensive side of his game." He was taken in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Trevor Carrick of the Mississauga Steelheads recorded a pair of goals and added an assist in a 5-4 win over the Brampton Battalion Tuesday night.

The blueliner was a fourth round pick of the Hurricanes in this past summer's NHL Entry Draft and he has stepped up his offensive game significantly, recording 15 points in 19 contests after amassing just 19 points in 68 games last season.

Trevor Carrick earned two assists for Mississauga in a 4-2 overtime against Brampton on Monday afternoon.

Carrick was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 draft by Carolina after he had 19 points, with 64 penalty minutes, in 68 games during his first year of OHL play in 2011-12. He has three helpers over six contests this year.
