Aleksander Barkov was one of four Panthers who made three shots on goal Saturday night, but it was not enough as they lost 2-0 to the Ottawa Senators.
Barkov had more than 22 minutes on ice as did Vincent Trocheck who also had three shots—both were simply unable to make anything of their effort. Mike Condon will get credited with the shutout win, but he was not challenged very often as the Panthers fall to 12-11-2, which leaves them fifth in the Atlantic. Jaromir Jagr and defenseman Jason Demers were the other Panthers with three shots. Dec 3 - 10:46 PM

Aleskander Barkov's overtime winner Thursday night against Detroit gave interim coach Tom Rowe his first win with the Panthers.

Put it in the books, folks. Barkov hadn't scored since the second game of the season on Oct. 15th, so this was as special tally for everyone involved. He now has 15 points in 24 games.
Dec 2 - 1:44 AM

Aleksander Barkov's goal drought has reached a career-long 21 games.

He has contributed nine assists in the last 11 contests, but he hasn't registered a goal since back on Oct. 15 against Detroit. Barkov will face the Red Wings on Thursday night. "He's such a horse for us," interim coach Tom Rowe said. "The thing that impresses me the heck out of him is he's as cool as a cucumber on the bench. If he plays like that he'll eventually break [out] and when it breaks it'll be big time."
Dec 1 - 7:48 AM

Aleksander Barkov contributed two assists in Sunday's 3-2 Panthers loss to Carolina.

Nov 27 - 11:41 PM

Aleksander Barkov, who has picked up his game in the last few weeks, is still not scoring goals.

Barkov has gone 19 games without scoring a non-shootout goal. However, the talented pivot has been productive registering seven assists in his last nine games. Barkov has scored two shootout goals this week but unfortunately they don't count on the stat sheet. Be patient with Barkov. He is too talented to be stymied for that much longer.
Nov 27 - 9:04 AM

Alexander Barkov went to the top shelf against Sergei Bobrovsky Saturday night to sink a shootout goal as the Florida Panthers defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Until the shootout, Bobrovsky had an easy night facing only 23 shots. Two of those came from Barkov in 20:27 minutes of ice time. Barkov’s was productive nonetheless as he also had an assist on Jaromir Jagr’s goal late in the first period to score his 12th point of the season.
Nov 26 - 9:57 PM

Aleksander Barkov's goalless drought has hit 18 games.

He scored in the first two games of the season, but hasn't found the back of the net since. "It feels like I haven’t scored forever," Barkov said. "I’m not playing with the confidence I need right now. If I have a chance and need to shoot, I don’t feel like it’s going in. Maybe I will, maybe I will get it close. But last year, I was always thinking about the goal, about the puck going in. When you haven’t scored in a long time, you work hard in practice and try and get out of this." Barkov should be able to turn things around at some point, which makes him an intriguing buy-low candidate in all fantasy formats.
Nov 26 - 11:22 AM

Despite initial concern about a concussion, Aleksander Barkov will indeed play in Sunday's match against the Rangers.

Barkov was pulled off the bench by a concussion spotter in the second period on Saturday, but has since been cleared to play. The 21-year-old phenom has four points over his last five games, with 10 points in 18 games overall this season.
Nov 20 - 1:22 PM

Aleksander Barkov, who missed the third period of Saturday night's 4-1 win over Ottawa after absorbing a hard check, seems to be healthy enough to play Sunday against the Rangers.

It seems the talented pivot was removed for precautionary reasons and didn't play in the third period. We will let you know if that changes.

Aleksander Barkov snapped his eight-game point drought Monday night.

He picked up the secondary assist on a power-play goal by Jonathan Marchessault early in the first period. The Panthers defeated Tampa Bay by a score of 3-1. Barkov has six points in 13 contests.
Nov 8 - 10:04 AM

Aleksander Barkov has gone eight straight games without a point.

His scoring drought has matched the career-worst he established from Nov.22-Dec. 8, 2013 during his rookie season. Jaromir Jagr has struggled this year as well and Jonathan Huberdeau hasn't played yet because of an Achilles injury, but Barkov should still be able to contribute much more than this. He has two goals and five points after 12 matches.
Nov 7 - 9:43 AM

Aleksander Barkov hasn't recorded a point in his last six contests.

The 21-year-old center also hasn't scored a goal in the past eight matches. Barkov has contributed two goals and two assists in 10 games this season, but all of that production came in the first four matches. Stay patient with him as his offensive touch should return soon.

Oct 21 - 8:05 AM

Aleksander Barkov scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 2-1 OT win over the New Jersey Devils.

Barkov helped set up Jonathan Marchessault's first period goal and he added the overtime winner at the 2:48 mark of the extra frame. The 21-year-old had a breakout season last year, as he scored 28 goals and 59 points in 66 games and he should improve on those numbers in 2016-17. He continues to be one of the most underrated players in the NHL.
