Aleksander Barkov picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
Barkov registered the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's power play goal (3-0) in the second period. Barkov then added a shorthanded goal into an empty net in the dying moments of the third frame. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and three shots on goal in 26:18 of ice time. Barkov now has two goals and four assists in seven games this season. The thing that stands out about Barkov right now, is that he's averaging 22:49 of ice time, which is rather high for a forward. Oct 21 - 11:11 PM

Aleksander Barkov scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Barkov's goal at the 5:49 mark of the first period gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead at the time. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the Penguins responded by scoring the next three goals. Florida managed to tie the game, but again, the Penguins jumped ahead thanks to Conor Sheary's goal with less than three minutes remaining. Barkov has one goal and three assists in six games this season. He's averaging 22:14 per game which is pretty significant for a forward.
Oct 21 - 1:01 AM

Aleksander Barkov hasn't scored a goal in five games this season.

Barkov is off to a slow start in 2017-18 with three assists and a minus-4 rating. Coach Bob Boughner wants to see better play from his top line of Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadonov. "They had a great preseason," Boughner said. "I liked their first couple games of the [regular] season. I think the last couple games they've gotten away from it a little bit. And I've separated it at times as well. But those three guys play well together, and it's just about limiting the turnovers and playing a little more north-south with that line. They know that. I think they put pressure on themselves to be better, and I know they can be."

Aleksander Barkov registered two assists in the Panthers' 5-4 win against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Unfortunately Barkov was also minus-one, bringing him down to minus-three on the season. That aside, Barkov is a great young offensive forward. He was limited to 61 games last season, but if he can stay healthy in 2017-18 then a 60-point campaign shouldn't be beyond his capabilities.
Oct 8 - 6:26 AM

Aleksander Barkov is looking for a bounce-back year in 2017-18.

Barkov missed 21 games last season due to injury, but has the talent to dominate offensively. He registered 21 goals and 52 points in 61 games last year. If Barkov can stay relatively healthy and play in 70-plus games then he should easily surpass the 60-point mark.
Oct 3 - 10:56 AM

Aleksander Barkov is disappointed that Jaromir Jagr won't be back with the Panthers this season.

"I would be lying if I say no because he helped me so much and probably I would never be in the same situation without him," Barkov said. "When he came in, I took my game to another level and for sure everybody else on the team did too. He just helped so much everybody on the team and is one of the most important guys in my career." Barkov, Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau was a successful combination for the Panthers, but injuries got in the way last year. He wants to see Jagr get a chance to continue playing somewhere even if it isn't in the NHL. Barkov and Huberdeau are expected to skated alongside Evgeny Dadonov in 2017-18.
Aug 10 - 12:10 PM

Aleksander Barkov is projected to play alongside newcomer Evgeny Dadonov next season.

Barkov between Jonathan Huberdeau and Dadonov could be a deadly combination in 2017-18. Barkov skated in 61 games with the Panthers last season and he picked up 52 points. Dadonov is an X-factor, but his talents have been well documented in the KHL and he has had success with Russia in international tournaments as well.
Jul 1 - 5:15 PM

Aleksander Barkov (back) is feeling good this off-season.

The injury forced Barkov to miss 21 games in 2016-17, including the final six of the regular season. The good news, is that he didn't need to have surgery to repair the injury. Barkov says he's already begun training for next season. It sounds like he's going to be 100 percent healthy heading into training camp. The Panthers forward scored 21 goals and 52 points in just 61 games.
May 6 - 1:22 PM

If Aleksander Barkov could just stay healthy he could be a top-15 player in the NHL.

The 21-year-old is one of the best two-way pivots in the NHL. Barkov was second on the Panthers in scoring with 52 points even though he missed 21 games due to injuries. He was also a team best plus-13 rating. If he can avoid injuries that have plagued him the past two campaigns, he could be a point-per-game player and a Selke Trophy nominee. Don't forget him on draft day.
Apr 16 - 9:44 AM

Aleksander Barkov (upper body) might be done for the season.

He has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury. It doesn't sound like he will play in Florida's final four games. Barkov is second on the Panthers in scoring with 52 points despite playing in just 61 matches.
Apr 3 - 6:00 PM

Aleksander Barkov (upper body) will miss Saturday's game.

It will be Barkov's second straight contest on the sidelines. He has 21 goals and 52 points in 61 contests this season.
Mar 31 - 1:09 PM

Aleksander Barkov has been sidelined with an upper body injury, and won't face Montreal on Thursday.

Both of their top goaltenders and their top forward, that's a lot to absorb for any club. Barkov has managed an excellent season for himself despite missing time with injuries, posting 21 goals and 52 points in 61 games. Consider him day-to-day, for now.
Mar 30 - 7:13 PM

Aleksander Barkov hit the 20-goal mark on Tuesday night in a 4-3 loss to Carolina.

He opened the scoring just 1:35 into the first period. This is the second straight year that Barkov has posted at least 20 goals. He has generated 47 points in 57 appearances this year.
Mar 22 - 10:44 AM

Aleksander Barkov has firmly established himself as one of the best shootout players in the NHL.

With seven shootout goals in 10 chances, Barkov has become the Panthers' go to guy when the game is on the line. That shouldn't be a surprise as Barkov has an immense amount of talent. In fact, had he not been injured this season, he might have been a league top-20 scorer. We love Barkov's prospects for next season, provided he can stay healthy.
Mar 19 - 9:07 AM

Aleksander Barkov scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 shootout win over the New York Rangers.

Barkov's goal gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead at the 7:23 mark of the third period. He also added the game-winner in the shootout. Barkov has 19 goals and 46 points in 55 games. Jonathan Huberdeau and Jussi Jokinen also found the back of the net for the Panthers.
