Aleksander Barkov missed Tuesday's game against Los Angeles because he felt ill.

He missed the morning skate as well. Barkov has struggled to produce this season with two goals and one assist in 13 games. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Nov 19 - 10:56 AM

Aleksander Barkov is being told to shoot more by his teammates and coaches.

He worked on his wrist shot over the summer, but he's been credited with only 15 shots in 11 games. "My shot is better, but I have to use it more," Barkov said. "I have to be more selfish because I've always thought 'pass first.' I have to change that mentality." He is off to a very slow start this year, with two goals and no assists.
Nov 14 - 9:38 AM

Aleksander Barkov scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Sharks.

The young center has recorded just two points in the 11 games he has suited up for this, causing him to disappoint many a fantasy owner in the process. Derek MacKenzie, Jimmy Hayes and Tomas Fleischmann all scored for the Panthers in a "get-well" kind of night in South Florida.
Nov 11 - 11:27 PM

Aleksander Barkov's return to the lineup Thursday led to a bit of a line shuffle in Florida.

The Panthers ice the following lines against the Flyers Thursday and may go with the same alignment against Calgary Saturday afternoon. Barkov, Jussi Jokinen and Brad Boyes made up the firt unit, while Scottie Upshall, Nick Bjugstad and Jimmy Hayes comprised the second line. Tomas Kopecky, Derrick MacKenzie and Scott Thornton formed the third unit while Thomas Fleischmann, Vincent Trocheck and Rocco Grimaldi skated as the fourth line. Adjust your lineup accordingly.

Aleksander Barkov (knee) will dress Thursday night versus Philadelphia.

It's been a slow start to the season for Barkov, who has one goal in eight games. He isn't worth owning in standard leagues right now, but he still has plenty of value in keeper formats.
Nov 6 - 1:05 PM

Aleksander Barkov might be available to return from his minor knee injury on Thursday night against Philadelphia.

He participated fully in Wednesday's practice. Barkov skated alongside Jussi Jokinen and Brad Boyes in the session. Coach Gerard Gallant is hopeful that the 19-year-old center will be back and we should know more after the morning skate.
Nov 6 - 10:36 AM

Aleksander Barkov (lower body) should be considered questionable to face Boston on Tuesday.

"He's coming on the trip, so hopefully he’s possible for [Tuesday]," coach Gerard Gallant said after Monday's practice. "It's a good sign he was out there and skated pretty good today." Barkov took part in the session wearing a non-contact jersey.
Nov 4 - 9:19 AM

Aleksander Barkov suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's win against Arizona.

He was injured in the third period and is listed as day-to-day. Barkov has endured a sluggish start to the season, with only one goal and no assists in eight matches.
Oct 31 - 10:19 AM

Aleksander Barkov registered his first point of the 2014-15 campaign.

It was his first goal since Jan. 14 of last season. Barkov missed the last two months of his rookie year because of a knee injury that he sustained in the Winter Olympics. He was reunited with Brad Boyes and Sean Bergenheim in the contest and each member of the trio scored in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over Colorado.
Oct 22 - 8:33 AM

Aleksander Barkov was reunited with Brad Boyes and Sean Bergenheim during Monday's practice.

Coach Gerard Gallant knows that the trio enjoyed success last season and he's trying to get Barkov going offensively with the change. Barkov has no points and five shots in his first five games of the 2014-15 campaign.
Oct 21 - 9:56 AM

Aleksander Barkov potted the lone goal for the Panthers in their 4-1 loss to the Lighting on Saturday night.

Barkov, now 19, had eight goals and 24 points last season in 54 games. Super talented, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get 20 goals this year, though it will come with more growing pains as a young player on a team that could struggle. Brian Campbell and Dmitry Kulikov had the helpers. Al Montoya blocked 24 of 28 shots.
Oct 4 - 9:31 PM

Aleksander Barkov took the final two days of the Florida Panthers' recent development camp off, as GM Dale Tallon said he doesn't want to take any risks with the team's future star center.

Barkov missed the final two months of last season after re-injuring his knee at the Winter Olympics. Barkov said his injury continues to heal. "He has nothing to prove to me," Tallon said. "We brought him in just to look at him, evaluate him. He looks good."
Jul 13 - 10:35 AM

Aleksander Barkov (knee) resumed skating on Friday.

At this point though, Barkov isn't expected to play before the end of the 2013-14 campaign. Panthers coach Peter Horachek confirmed as much, although he left the door open for Barkov to return if he progresses really well now that he's skating.
Apr 5 - 9:53 AM

Aleksander Barkov (knee) might be able to return before the end of the regular season.

"It's a matter of do we want him to come back and how we want him to go forward," interim coach Peter Horachek said. "He's a young guy that's gone through that knee, so we want to make sure." Barkov has resumed skating after he was injured in the Winter Olympics.
