Seth Griffith skated alongside Jack Eichel and Evander Kane during Sunday's practice.

Griffith appears to have earned a job with the Sabres for the start of the 2017-18 campaign. "His attitude is infectious," Housley said. "He's got to play like he has been the last two games. He has to be up in the forecheck. I know he's a smaller guy but he finds way to get pucks and win puck battles." Jason Pominville had been skating on the top line, but he was moved to the third unit alongside Sam Reinhart on Sunday.

Seth Griffith skated alongside Ryan O'Reilly and Benoit Pouliot at Thursday's practice.

"I'm not looking too much into it, but if I get the chance to play with them it'd be great," said Griffith. "Hopefully, I can show them what I have." He has contributed one goal and one assist in two preseason matches, while skating as a bottom-six forward. He has just 58 games of NHL experience in his career, but he appears to be working himself into the mix for a roster spot on the Sabres.

Seth Griffith has signed a one-year, $650,000 contract with Buffalo.

This is a depth signing for the Sabres. Griffith registered five points in 24 NHL games in Toronto and Florida in 2016-17. We doubt he will do much to make him a fantasy asset next season.

Seth Griffith has been sent to the AHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto just claimed Griffith off waivers. The only way Griffith would be eligible to be sent to the minors immediately after being claimed is if Toronto was the only team to put in a waiver claim. The Maple Leafs previously employed Griffith this season, so they're entitled to send him to the AHL without putting him on waivers yet again under these circumstances.

He left the game in the first period after a hit from Winnipeg's Nikolaj Ehlers. "It was a dirty hit, but Ehlers, he deliberately did it," Rowe said of the play that looked like interference. "I don't care what anyone says. I saw it on video; it's a dirty hit." Consider Griffith day-to-day for now.

It looks like he's going to get an opportunity to play with Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr. Reilly Smith, who was on that line during the last few games, was moved back to the second line with Vincent Trocheck and Jussi Jokinen. This is a great opportunity for Griffith to prove himself, as he has just one assist in 12 games this season.
