"J.C.'s shoulder hit my face and my teeth kind of just chipped off and I was picking them up off the ground." The younger Lipon hit one J.C.'s teammates during a scrimmage and it spurred on the reaction, but he understands that these things can happen in hockey so there isn't any bad blood between them. J.C. Canada will be down two forwards for Sunday's game against the United States at the world junior hockey championship because of another suspension.

JC Lipon must serve a one-game suspension handed down by the International Ice Hockey Federation on Saturday for his hit on Slovak forward Tomas Mikus on Friday. Forward Boone Jenner will also serve the third in his three-game suspension imposed on the eve of the tournament for a check on a Swedish player during a pre-tournament game. Both Canadians will be back in the lineup for the New Year's Eve game against Russia that concludes Pool B play.

Lipon has 22 goals and 57 points in 34 WHL games this season. He also made Team Canada's roster for the upcoming World Junior Championship, in part thanks to his infectious energy and his penalty killing skills. "I guess there are late bloomers," Lipon said. "Hockey is a tough game. You learn a lot throughout each year. If you're not getting better, what's the point of playing?" JC Lipon scored 2 goals and added 3 assists Friday night in Kamloops' 6-4 win over Portland in WHL action.

Lipon leads the WHL with 48 points in just 24 games. He's been passed over twice in the NHL draft, but he's set his sights on 2013 and is forcing scouts to take a serious look. Tanner Pearson, who was passed over in the NHL draft multiple times before posting an outstanding season in the OHL last year, ended up being a first round selection in the 2012 draft. If Lipon keeps it up, there's reason to believe he could do the same.
