Elias Lindholm has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $5.4 million.
He will make $2.5 million in 2016-17 and then $2.9 million during the 2017-18 campaign. Lindholm, who was the fifth overall pick in 2013, showed plenty of promise last season while recording 17 goals and 39 points in 81 games. "We expect he will be a very important part of the Hurricanes as he continues to develop as a professional," GM Ron Francis said after the signing. Aug 27 - 6:57 PM

Elias Lindholm potted his 17th goal of the season on Saturday.

Lindholm sits third in goals on the Hurricanes as he trails Eric Staal by five and Jeff Skinner by only one. Lindholm is sitting at 39 points with a minus-18 rating. The good news is that Lindholm is only 20 and has 15 power play points. He is only going to get better.
Apr 5 - 5:33 AM

Elias Lindholm scored for Carolina in its 3-2 shootout loss against the Rangers on Saturday night.

Lindholm scored the game’s first goal, 2:01 into the contest. Sixteen goals and 35 points don’t appear all that exciting. But Lindholm is just 20 years old, in his second season, and he has made some great strides that make him worth a look later in drafts next season. Ryan Murphy got the other goal.
Mar 21 - 11:03 PM

Elias Lindholm scored the only Carolina goal in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to Ottawa.

Lindholm has now registered 15 tallies in his sophomore campaign, making him one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season for the Hurricanes. Jeff Skinner and John-Michael Liles drew assists on the lone goal.
Mar 17 - 10:10 PM

Elias Lindholm had an assist in a 4-3 shootout loss against Columbus on Tuesday.

It was Lindholm's first game since recording a hat trick and five points on Sunday. He now has 14 goals and 19 assists in 64 contests in 2014-15.
Mar 11 - 9:27 AM

Elias Lindholm downplayed his hat trick and five-point game.

Lindholm instead pointed to his teammates hard work as being the difference on Sunday. "It's the only night in my life that has happened," Lindholm said. "I didn't think I played that good, actually. Nothing special." Nevertheless, it's great to see, especially given the difficult season he's had. Lindholm has 14 goals and 32 points in 63 contests in 2014-15.
Mar 10 - 10:36 AM

Elias Lindholm recorded the first hat trick of his NHL career Sunday during the Carolina Hurricanes' 7-4 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

The right winger also notched two assists in a wild game during which the Canes scored six consecutive goals in a span of 17:27, overcoming a three-goal disadvantage. Lindholm's stats on the season increased to 14 goals, 18 assists and 32 points. Lindholm scored on all three shots he took in the game. He wasn't the only Hurricane to register a multi-point game, though. Jeff Skinner scored two goals, both on power plays, to give him 18 for the season. Eric Staal had three assists and Victor Rask, two. Also scoring goals for Carolina were Andrej Nestrasil (his fifth of the season) and Alexander Semin (fourth).
Mar 8 - 6:55 PM

Carolina coach Bill Peters switched up his lines during the game Friday.

Elias Lindholm found himself on a line with the Staal brothers as Jeff Skinner and Alexander Semin played alongside Riley Nash. Lindholm had five shots on goal Friday and has 11 goals and 27 points this season. He was the fifth overall pick in 2013 and could have a breakout season as early as 2015-16.
Mar 7 - 6:58 AM

Elias Lindholm scored his 11th goal of the season on Saturday.

The talented forward was selected fifth overall in the 2013 Draft and he is showing a lot of good signs at the tender age of 20. Lindholm has 24 points in 53 games and while that is not a lot, he is worth a good look at next season in fantasy pools.
Feb 15 - 5:26 AM

Elias Lindholm helped lead the Hurricanes to a 5-4 win over the Sharks with a goal and an assist Saturday night.

Lindholm’s goal came on the power play in the second period. While his 10 goals and 22 points are nothing to be too excited about, the 20-year-old is progressing nicely at the NHL level as he’s topped his point total in seven fewer games from last season. He also has points in four of his past six games. Andrej Sekera (goal, assist), Eric Staal, Andrej Nestrasil and Victor Rask picked up the other goals. Justin Faulk had three helpers.

Elias Lindholm's fantasy owners will be looking forward to the Hurricanes game on Saturday in San Jose.

Lindholm has gone against the Sharks three times in his young career and has five points including two goals to show for it. He could be a nice play in FanDuel tonight.
Feb 7 - 6:38 AM

Elias Lindholm scored Thursday's shootout winner to life the Hurricanes over the Coyotes.

After skating 20:34 with nearly five minutes on the power play and collecting three shots on goal through the first 65 minutes of play, Lindholm juked goalie Mike Smith out of his skates to score on the backhand for the shootout's only tally. Through 50 games this season, he has nine goals and 21 points.
Feb 6 - 12:47 AM

Elias Lindholm, Chris Terry, and Brett Bellemore will be healthy scratches against the NY Rangers on Saturday night.

After sitting out the previous four games, John-Michael Liles, Andrej Nestrasil, and Alexander Semin are all drawing back into the lineup to replace the aforementioned trio. Of them, only Lindholm has a shred of fantasy value with nine goals and 20 points in 48 games this season. But mainly, that's just praise for the 20 year old sophomore who is expected to continue to get better as he ages.
Jan 31 - 6:27 PM

Elias Lindholm scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over Toronto.

Lindholm has only scored 18 goals in 104 career contests, but six of them have been game-winning markers. He has nine goals and 19 points in 46 games this season. He's got plenty of offensive upside, but it might be another season or two before he has much fantasy value.
Jan 20 - 9:00 AM

Elias Lindholm had an assist in a 3-2 shootout victory against Colorado.

Lindholm has eight goals and 18 points in 43 contests in 2014-15. He's got a lot of potential, but with the Hurricanes as a whole stagnant this season, we don't expect him to breakout in the second half of the 2014-15 campaign.
