Alexander Kerfoot will make his NHL preseason debut alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen on Tuesday against Vegas.
It's strange to think that Kerfoot is actually the oldest member of the trio at 23 years of age. "It's a pretty cool opportunity. They're pretty special hockey players," said Kerfoot. "Obviously, I'm really excited but I don't want to get too nervous; playing with those guys can be nerve-wracking at times. I just want to play my game and stay focused — try to keep things simple but also make plays and give them the puck." Sep 19 - 4:15 PM

The Colorado Avalanche were "thrilled" to land college free agent Alex Kerfoot.

Kerfoot signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Avs earlier this week. "We are thrilled that Alexander decided to sign with the Avalanche," said GM Joe Sakic. "He's a highly-skilled, playmaking center who is responsible at both ends of the ice. We look forward to seeing him take the next step of his hockey career with our organization." The 23-year-old had 16 goals and 29 assists in 36 games with Harvard last season. He has a good shot at making the Avs roster out of camp.

College free agent Alex Kerfoot has opted to sign with the Colorado Avalanche, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Kerfoot was reportedly deciding between the Rangers, Canucks and a mystery team. Now we know that the mystery team was the Avalanche. It's an interesting decision. The Avalanche were the worst team in the NHL last season, but that means that there should be a decent opportunity for the 23-year-old to make the roster as soon as this season. Kerfoot had 16 goals and 29 assists in 36 games with Harvard last season. He has some long-term potential, but don't expect him to have much fantasy value in 2017-18.

Alex Kerfoot's short-list is reportedly down to three teams.

Kerfoot is reportedly interesting in going to the Rangers, the Canucks (he's from Vancouver) and the third team hasn't been confirmed yet. The college free agent was originally selected by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round of the 2012 draft, but he became a free agent earlier this month when he opted not to sign with them. He had 16 goals and 29 assists in 36 games with Harvard last season.

The New York Rangers are among the finalists for college free agent Alex Kerfoot.

Kerfoot's agent, J.P. Barry, confirmed that his client is interested in going to New York. The 23-year-old had 16 goals and 29 assists in 36 games with Harvard last season.

College free agent Alexander Kerfoot had a "very productive and informative" meeting with the Vancouver Canucks, per agent J.P. Barry.

The 23-year-old was originally drafted by New Jersey in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, but he became a free agent last Wednesday after failing to agree to terms with them. Kerfoot is from Vancouver, so it's easy to see why he wanted to meet with them. He had 16 goals and 45 points in 36 games with Harvard last season.
Aug 19 - 9:45 AM

New Jersey has reached out to Alexander Kerfoot, who can become an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 15.

Kerfoot was selected with the 150th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He's coming off his senior year with Harvard University where he scored 16 goals and 45 points in 36 contests. "I talked to him a few days ago for a while," Devils GM Ray Shero said. "I think after the dust settled for free agency for a lot of teams, including ours, I think it was good to reconnect with him. Me, John Hynes and Fitzie had a conference call with him, and I explained to him again exactly where we were. I think it was a good reminder that we’d really like to sign him, but like anybody else, he controls the outcome until Aug. 15. I think it was a really good conversation and he’ll talk to his agent, and hopefully get back to us in the very near future. There’s not much more he can learn from us at this point, but I think it was a really good chance to reconnect with him when the dust settles after July 1 around the league and certainly with the Devils."
Jul 19 - 9:11 AM

Alexander Kerfoot isn't likely to sign with the New Jersey Devils before they lose his exclusive rights.

New Jersey took Kerfoot with the 150th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Since then Kerfoot has played for Harvard University and is coming off a strong season where he scored 16 goals and 45 points in 36 NCAA games. If he waits until Aug. 15 then he'll become an unrestricted free agent. It looks like that's the path he's likely to take at this point.
May 26 - 10:19 AM

Alexander Kerfoot will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Thursday.

He sustained the injury last month while playing for the Coquitlam Express in a game against Kelowna in the British Columbia Hockey League (Junior A). Kerfoot accounted for eight goals and 11 assists in 16 games this season after he recorded 25 goals and 69 points in 51 appearances in 2011-12. New Jersey selected him with the 150th overall pick in the 2012 draft. He is committed to attend Harvard next fall.
