Markus Granlund has played almost the entire 2016-17 campaign with broken ligaments in his wrist.
The Canucks said that Granlund "had an ongoing wrist injury" when they announced that he would be shutdown to undergo surgery, but the extent of the issue wasn't initially revealed. As it turns out, he broke the ligaments on October 25th, but still managed to score 19 goals and 32 points in 69 games this season. He's expected to need three-to-five months to recover, so he should be okay for the 2017-18 campaign. Mar 23 - 11:31 AM

Markus Granlund will undergo wrist surgery.

"Markus has had an ongoing wrist injury which we've treated through regular maintenance and rehabilitation," said Canucks GM Jim Benning. "Our Canucks medical team and Markus believe that surgery is the best course of action for his long-term health and by having the procedure now it will allow him to have more time to rehabilitate and work out in preparation for next season. Markus is an important part of our team and we are confident he'll have a full recovery." A timetable for his recovery will come after the procedure, but obviously it wouldn't be surprising if he was out for the rest of the year.

Markus Granlund scored two goals Monday, but it was not enough as the Canucks lost 6-3 to the Bruins.

Notably, Granlund’s goals came with assists from both Sedin brothers. Granlund has been uneven in the month of March, with only two goals and one assist. The positive spin is that he now has points in back-to-back games after getting his assist Thursday against the Islanders.
Mar 14 - 1:11 AM

Markus Granlund has registered five goals and three assists in the last 12 games.

He has been productive while playing on the top line with Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. Granlund is expected to stay with the twins on Tuesday night and could make for a decent addition in deeper leagues at this time.

Markus Granlund scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Granlund scored the game's first goal, but it was all downhill for the Canucks after that. The Canucks forward finished the game with four shots on goal and one hit in 18 minutes of ice time. Granlund has 13 goals and eight assists in 53 games this season. Alex Edler also scored for Vancouver.

Jan 12 - 10:43 PM

Markus Granlund picked up two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Friday.

Granlund scored his 2nd of the game by tipping Tryamkin's shot from the point up and over Brian Elliot. He is currently sitting at nine goals and 17 points in 41 games this season and looks to have carved out a nice spot on the 2nd line alongside Brandon Sutter and Loui Eriksson. Michael Chaput and Loui Eriksson were the other two goal scorers for the Canucks in this one.

Markus Granlund and Bo Horvat scored during the shootout as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 Saturday night.

Neither shooter was able to find the back of the net during regulation when that would have been a difference maker before overtime. Sven Baerstchi and Daniel Sedin had the regulation markers. Both the Canucks and Leafs entered the game second from the bottom of their division, but the two points earned by Vancouver did not move them up. The Leafs single point will allow them to catch the Detroit Red Wings, however.

Markus Granlund used his stick as a bat at the 13:26 minute mark of the third period to score the second goal in the Vancouver Canucks 7-2 loss to the New York Rangers Tuesday night.

Granlund kept his stick just low enough to be awarded the goal and it caught Henrik Lundqvist off guard. Unfortunately the Rangers' goalie was much too stingy to make Granlund’s goal much more than a novelty. He was joined on the scoring sheet by Brandon Sutter late in the second.
