Markus Granlund will center the Flames' second line Tuesday against Toronto.

With Sean Monahan being scratched, all the centers are moving up a slot. Granlund has just five points in 27 games this season, so we wouldn't expect this to prove to be much of a spark for him.

Markus Granlund, Joe Colborne, and Jakub Nakladal will each be scratched from Saturday's tilt with Vancouver.

While Colborne clearly boasts the most fantasy value, he's seen just five games since Jan. 11th. Granlund meanwhile has now played in 82 career NHL games, posting just 13 goals and 26 points with 36 blocks and 63 hits.

Markus Granlund has been playing great since his most recall from the minors.

Granlund has scored three goals in the seven games since his recall but his all-round game has the coaching staff drooling. "Lots of times, those guys, after three or four or five years of going up, going down, going up, going down, they get a doubt in their mind," coach Bob Hartley said. "Obviously, with the way (Granlund) is playing, there's no doubt. It's easy to say he's playing great because he's scoring goals, but if we look at his entire game, he's strong, he's solid defensively, he's moving the puck well, he's skating, and this guy can shoot the puck. He's been big for us." Granlund has been up and down over the last three seasons but it is starting to look like he is here to stay. Granlund has three goals in eight games this season.

Markus Granlund scored for the Flames in their 5-2 loss to the Sharks on Saturday night.

Granlund’s first goal of the season comes in his third game. He played 13:02 and had three shots on goal. Granlund has shown decent offensive ability in the AHL, but he’s yet to prove he’s worth fantasy consideration in 58 NHL games. He has 11 goals and 22 points. Micheal Ferland tallied the other goal.

Markus Granlund has been called up by the Calgary Flames.

Granlund has five goals and nine points in 12 AHL contests in 2015-16. He logged 8:05 minutes with the Calgary Flames on Oct. 17 and he hasn't played at that level since.

Markus Granlund has been returned to the minors.

He made his season debut with the Flames on Saturday against Edmonton. Granlund logged just 8:05 of ice time and he posted a minus-1 rating. He was sent back down because Joe Colborne is ready to return.

Markus Granlund and Joni Ortio will watch their Flames take on the Jets from the stands on Friday night.

While Ortio is firmly planted in the third goalie seat behind Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo, at least for the moment, Granlund entices with some offensive flare. The 22-year-old forward has a 25-gold season for the AHL Abbotford Heat under his belt already, and if he can transfer that skill to the NHL level, he could be a quality scorer for a long time.

Markus Granlund has been called up by the Calgary Flames.

Granlund had a goal and two assists in his first AHL contest of the season. With Lance Bouma (leg) expected to miss the next three months, this likely isn't a short-term promotion for Granlund.

Markus Granlund and Josh Jooris lead the cavalcade of scratches for Calgary in Friday's Game Four against Anaheim.

Granlund and Jooris will be joined by forward David Wolf and Drew Shore, along with defenders Tyler Wotherspoon and Corey Potter. Unfortunately, there isn't much fantasy value here to speak of.

There will be no line up changes for Calgary as they try to close out the Vancouver Canucks in Game Six on Saturday night.

Markus Granlund will be joined by fellow forward Drew Shore along with defender Corey Potter in the stands. It does not appear that Coach Hartley has any confidence in these three.

Tyler Wotherspoon and Mason Raymond will enter the lineup for Calgary.

Markus Granlund scored two times to lead the Flames to a 4-0 win over the Oilers on Saturday night.

Don’t get too excited just yet. Granlund is still only 21 years old, and has eight goals and 18 points in 45 games. He is still probably at least a year away from developing into a usable fantasy player. Dennis Wideman had a goal and two helpers, while Joe Colborne potted the other marker.
