Jake McCabe returned to playing defense on Thursday night.

He skated as a forward Tuesday because of injuries. McCabe registered an assist in a 5-1 loss to Philadelphia in his return to the back end. He was also assessed 17 penalty minutes when he responded to a hit by Radko Gudas on Sabres rookie Daniel Catenacci.
Feb 12 - 8:11 AM

Jake McCabe will skate at forward during Tuesday's match with Florida.

Well, this is a strange, but it was made out of necessity because Zemgus Girgensons and Johan Larsson are unavailable due to injuries. McCabe will play with Dan Catenacci and David Legwand on the fourth line.
Feb 9 - 6:47 PM

Jake McCabe and Carlo Colaiacovo will each be scratched from Saturday's match with Washington.

McCabe has had a nice rookie season for himself through 41 games. He's compiled eight points, 12 PIMs, 52 blocks, and 60 hits along the way. Not quite enough to warrant a spot on your fantasy squad, unless you're in a super deep league. But certainly a lot for the 22-year-old to be proud of.

Jake McCabe (lower body) is OK to play Tuesday.

He didn't finish Sunday's game in Winnipeg, but he coach Dan Bylsma said the blueliner is "significantly better" today. The Sabres bench boss wants to stick with the same lineup, so Mark Pysyk will be a healthy scratch.
Jan 12 - 2:22 PM

Jake McCabe (lower body) was able to practice Monday.

He was feeling better than he did after he left Sunday's game, but it's unclear if he'll be in the lineup Tuesday at Minnesota. Mark Pysyk, who just returned to the team from a conditioning stint in the minors, may play in McCabe's place.
Jan 12 - 9:27 AM

Jake McCabe did not play in the final 9:40 of Sunday's 4-2 win over the Jets.

McCabe collided with Mathieu Perreault leg-on-leg during the second period, but played through it for a time. McCabe did manage to pick up an assist on the go-ahead goal early in the third period before departing. Coach Dan Bylsma said he didn't have an update after the game except that it was a "lower body injury", but we know slightly more than that. McCabe has eight points 50 blocks and 55 hits through 39 games this season.
Jan 10 - 7:01 PM

Jake McCabe got back in Buffalo's lineup on Thursday against Calgary.

Jake McCabe logged a career-high 23:47 of ice time during Saturday's win over Vancouver.

"His skating ability has been a huge improvement for our lineup," coach Dan Bylsma said. "His responsibility and minutes have gone up virtually with every game. ... It's not spotless, but his ability and what he's done have been a huge, huge improvement for our back end since he's got in there." McCabe has topped 20 minutes of playing time in his last three outings. He has two goals and 24 hits in 12 games this season.

Jake McCabe scored his first NHL goal Thursday night in a 3-2 loss to Florida.

He was playing in his second game of the year after dressing in nine contests over the previous two seasons. McCabe shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Jake McCabe will indeed play Monday against Columbus.

However, it is still uncertain who is coming out to make room for him. The pregame warmup will provide the details, according to coach Dan Bylsma. Carlo Colaiacovo is seeing the least ice time among the Sabres' blueliners and he has a minus-3 rating, so he's the logical subtraction.

Jake McCabe has been called up by Buffalo.

It seems like he will play Monday afternoon, but it's unclear who is going out at this time. The Sabres already have seven blueliners on the roster, so there might be an injury.
