Jimmy Vesey scored three goals in a 6-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

It was Vesey that scored but Pavel Buchnevich made a great play to win the draw and get the puck over to Vesey for his first goal of the game. Vesey then followed that up with the game-winning goal midway through the third period before scoring into an empty net. The 24-year-old forward is now up to 15 goals and 22 points in 67 games this season and the Rangers must be at least encouraged on his goal scoring numbers after a disappointing rookie season. Mats Zuccarello (x2), and Vladislav Namestnikov also scored in the win.

There was no update on Sunday from the Rangers on Jimmy Vesey who appeared to suffer a concussion Saturday.

Vesey was leveled by Filip Forsberg, a misdeed that went unpunished on the ice but drew Forsberg a three game suspension from the NHL. Vesey, who had 10 goals and 17 points in 52 games, is likely out a while as it did not look good.

The Rangers forward was left bloodied and he was slow to get up. He's considered day-to-day for now. Expect the team to provide an update on his status in the coming days.

Jimmy Vesey left this afternoon's contest after taking a skate to the mouth but has now returned.

Kassian accidentally caught Vesey with his skate in the mouth area, forcing the Ranger forward to leave the game to stitch up his cuts. Vesey has now returned sporting a full fish bowl mask to cover his face. The second year forward came into the game with five points in 17 games this season. He shouldn't miss any time but will likely have to play with a full facial protection for the next few games. Video of the incident can be seen by clicking on the link below.

He isn't worth owning in any fantasy format for the time being.

The line of Jimmy Vesey, Kevin Hayes and Jesper Fast has been a bright spot for the Rangers during an otherwise dreadful start to the campaign.

Vesey has two points in 10 games, Hayes has five points, and Fast has two points in five contests, so they haven't stood out offensively. What they have done is shined defensively when paired against the opposition's best players. "That line has been real effective because of the competitiveness and the hard work that they’ve put in," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "We need that from everybody. Simplify is a word that we have been using. Getting pucks to the net and getting on the right side of their checks, and that line has certainly been doing that for us." Given how happy Vigneault has been with them, it seems fair to believe that the trio will stick together for now.
