Jimmy Vesey scored for the first time in 15 games Saturday.
"I thought we had a good game together," Vesey said. "Obviously it feels good to score, but I think except for the last game [Friday against Florida at the Garden] I’ve been skating well. "I have a different role on this line, but I’m just trying my best to learn and do what I can to help us win." Vesey has 15 goals and 25 points this season but expect more next season. Jimmy Vesey picked up his 24th point of the season as the Rangers fell 5-2 to the Blue Jackets on Sunday.

It was a beauty of a no-look cross-ice pass to Rick Nash, who did the rest. Vesey has recorded 10 assists on the year through 61 games. All things considered, not too shabby for a rookie.

Jimmy Vesey recorded an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal on Tuesday.

Vesey has registered a point in three of his last four games. That gives the Rangers rookie 14 goals and 23 points in 58 contests this season.

Jimmy Vesey scored a power play goal in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders.

Vesey's now found the back of the net in consecutive games for the first time since Oct. 30-Nov. 1. His marker in the third period cut the Islanders' lead to 3-2, but that's as close as the Rangers would come to tying it up. Vesey has scored 14 goals and eight assists in 2016-17.

Jimmy Vesey's 13th goal of the season was the game winner as the New York Rangers defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2.

Vesey was considered a candidate for the Calder Trophy at the start of the season and performed like one through the first ten games of the season as he had six goals. But he only had six more in the next 44 games before the game winner on Monday. He has 21 points this season and while he has struggled since early in the season, the Rangers are still high on the rookie.

The New York Rangers have Jimmy Vesey seeing the strength and conditioning coach before and after every game.

This has been going on for a couple of months as Vesey tries to get used to the long NHL schedule of 82 games with the travel, rather than the 30 games a college player has with limited travel. "It’s just that this is different than playing 30 games," Vesey said to the New York Post. "Here we work out after games. In college, it was like, go do schoolwork, or my family or everyone’s family was at games. And we only played twice a week. So I’m still in the process of becoming a pro." Vesey had six goals in his first 10 games as he seemed poised to contend for the Calder Trophy but he has only six goals since in 44 games including only one in his last 16.

Jimmy Stepan played on Thursday with Rick Nash and Derek Stepan.

Vesey moved up the depth chart with the line switch and impressed coach Alain Vigneault. "I thought they had a good game," Vigneault said. "I thought they had some powerful shifts last game. Jimmy was very useful to that line. Nasher took pucks to the net and easily could’ve had two or three goals in that game. I thought that whole line played a good game, played at both ends of the think and I expect that of them." Vesey has 12 goals and 20 points this season but the rookie is a minus-seven.

It's been a tale of two streaks for rookie Jimmy Vesey through the first four months of his career.

Over the first 24 games of his career in October and November, Vesey posted an impressive eight goals and 14 points. But that's about where statistical praise ends for him. Over his last 24 games played in December and January, the rookie has three goals and five points which includes no points over his last 10 games. The 23-year-old is certainly talented enough to turn things around but we'd wait for a good week before turning to him for supplementary support.

With half a season left, Jimmy Vesey's endurance is being put to the test.

Like many rookies, Vesey is dealing with a tougher schedule than he's faced in the past. He participated in 33 games with Harvard University last season, but he's already appeared in 41 contests with the Rangers in 2016-17 - 49 games if you want to include the preseason action. That steep increase isn't lost on him. "Yeah, I’ve thought about it, I’m just trying to put that one off," Vesey said. "You think about rookie camp and preseason, I’ve played almost 50 games. So I’m on pace for 100. I’ve thought about it, just trying to take it day by day." The 23-year-old forward has 11 goals and 19 points this season.

Jimmy Vesey and Mats Zuccarello were the first two shooters in SO overtime and both sunk their pucks as the New York Rangers beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 Saturday night.

This game followed the same pattern as an earlier shootout contest. The Rangers took an early lead with Rick Nash’s first period score and that allowed the ultimately victorious team to play a little more relaxed than the Preds who tied the contest in the second. Notably, the same was true of the Buffalo Sabres vs. Carolina Hurricanes contest. In both games, the first two skaters in the SO were successful denying a third round attempt.

Jimmy Vesey will play in his first game against Nashville when the Predators host the Rangers on Saturday.

Vesey is likely to get booed in Nashville. The Predators were the team that drafted him back in 2012, but Vesey opted to wait for free agency while he played with Harvard University and then signed with the New York Rangers last summer. "Probably going to be the worst of it," Vesey said of the potential fan reaction. "Buffalo wasn’t too bad, but this one is probably a little more magnified. The only thing I can do is block it out and go play. It’s just another game for us. It’s a big two points, and I have to stay focused and just do my job for the team." He has 10 goals and 17 points in 31 contests this season.

The rookie will take the warm-up stroll then he and the medical staff will come to a consensus, which usually results in the player playing in the game. We'll keep you posted on the official word.
