The Jets forward has been held out of the last two games because of an undisclosed ailment. Dano has four goals and seven assists in 37 games this season.

There isn't much information about Dano's injury, but beat reporter Ken Wiebe insisted that he isn't serving as a healthy scratch. Dano also missed yesterday's game against the Los Angeles Kings. He's day-to-day for now.

He wasn't putting any pressure on it after he crashed hard into the end boards during the second period. "It's not good," said coach Pau; Maurice. "I'll be surprised if we come back on a short-term injury here. We're talking about weeks, easily."

Dano now has five assists and eight points in 19 games this season. It would appear that the talented young forward is slowly but surely adapting to the highest level of hockey.

He exited Tuesday's game against New Jersey after he was hit in the eye area by a high stick, but he was fine to get back in the lineup. Dano had two shots, two penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating against the Oilers.

Marko Dano was struck in the eye by a high stick on Tuesday night.

However, he received some good news after the game. "He got split with a stick in his eye," coach Paul Maurice said. "But his eye, we believe, is good and solid. We're hopeful with that. But this takes a few days. It's day to day before he's out of the woods."
