Anthony Stolarz said that Steve Mason has been his mentor.
Finer words could not have been spoken by the latest Flyer to win a game in net. Stolarz got his first start of his career Sunday and went to chat with Mason on the bench during the timeouts. "Mason has been a great support for me the past couple weeks," Stolarz said. "Really helping me with things. Obviously being a big goalie, like me, I am able to watch him and kind of pick up a few things from him. He’s been a big mentor for me." Stolarz played well enough that he is likely to get a start this week as the Flyers play four games with three coming in four nights. Nov 29 - 9:12 AM

Anthony Stolarz made 29 saves and most importantly, earned the victory in his NHL debut on Sunday night.

The 22-year-old allowed three goals in a 5-3 victory over Calgary. The Edison, N.J. native has had a solid start to the season with the AHL Phantoms, and could see some more time with the big club should he continue to play well. He is now 1-0 with a 3.00 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
Nov 28 - 12:04 AM

Anthony Stolarz will make his NHL debut, and a bit of history, on Sunday against Calgary.

Stolarz will become the first New Jersey-born goalie to play in the NHL, which is a bit astounding to say the least. The 22-year-old could have a lot riding on his performance as he's well-situated to usurp both Michal Neuvirth and Steve Mason as the Flyers' primary netminder before season's end. He's 6-2 with 19 goals against and a .927 save percentage in AHL Lehigh Valley this season, as his star continues to grow in brightness.
Nov 26 - 3:16 PM

Anthony Stolarz could make his NHL debut on Wednesday.

The Flyers play the back-half of back-to-back games and it is also the middle game of a three games in four nights scenario. It makes sense that Philadelphia will give this opportunity to Stolarz as Steve Mason has not exactly been lighting the world on fire.
Nov 22 - 8:44 AM

Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said Anthony Stolarz will play at some point during his latest recall.

There have been times where Stolarz hasn't seen any game action during a call up, but with Michal Neuvirth on the shelf for four-to-six weeks, that won't be the case. "Yeah I think you will," said Hakstol. "I think it's a great opportunity for Anthony to continue what he's done over the last year and couple months down in the American Hockey League. He's proven that he's ready to be here. We'll take it day-by-day and decide when that start is, but we'll have him as a starter at some point in time through this stretch." The 22-year-old has a 6-2-0 record with a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage in the AHL this season.

Nov 14 - 8:14 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled goaltender Anthony Stolarz from the minors.

This move was expected as Michal Neuvirth will be lost to the Flyers for the next four-six weeks with a lower body injury. Look for Stolarz to finally make his NHL debut at some point in the next two weeks. Grab him in deeper pools if you need goaltending help.

It isn't official yet, but expect Anthony Stolarz to be recalled to replace the injured Michal Neuvirth.

Neuvirth will be lost to the Flyers for the next four-to-six weeks with a lower body injury. The 22-year-old Stolarz has posted a sterling 6-2 record in AHL Lehigh Valley with a .927 save percentage and 2.39 GAA.
Nov 13 - 5:00 PM

If Philadelphia's goaltending problems continue then the team could give Anthony Stolarz a shot at some NHL action.

He owns a 5-2-0 record for Lehigh Valley of the AHL to go with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth have not looked good early into the year, but they will be given some more time to turn it around. Both of them are playing on expiring contracts, which could give a Stolarz a chance at some point.
Nov 12 - 9:23 AM

Anthony Stolarz has been called up by the Philadelphia Flyers.

This doesn't change the Flyers plan to have Stolarz begin the season in the minors. Steve Mason's fiancé is scheduled to give birth to their first child, so the Flyers just need another goalie around for now.
Oct 6 - 10:43 AM

Anthony Stolarz has been reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley.

Stolarz posted a 2.60 GAA and .916 save percentage in 47 AHL contests in 2015-16. His remove from the training camp roster was expected, but if Steve Mason or Michal Neuvirth suffer an injury during the campaign then Stolarz might be back with Philadelphia.
Sep 29 - 3:22 PM

Anthony Stolarz has been sent to the minors.

Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall fought against the idea that Ray Emery's tryout reflected the level of trust they had in Stolarz, but in the end Emery is serving as the backup for now while Stolarz didn't play in a single NHL game. Stolarz has a 2.59 GAA and .916 save percentage in 42 AHL contests.
Apr 7 - 4:31 PM

Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall disputed the idea that the Flyers bringing in Ray Emery on a tryout basis was a reflection of the level of trust they have in Anthony Stolarz.

"Absolutely not," Hextall said. "This is not a reflection at all of Stolie. It’s just so we have a third guy. We truly don’t have a third guy in the organization right now." Stolarz was summoned by the Flyers because Michal Neuvirth is out for the rest of the regular season. Stolarz has no NHL experience and if he does get a start, that game will almost certainly be an important one as the Flyers are in a tough battle for a Wild Card spot. Hextall's suggestion that bringing in Emery was a depth move is valid, but ultimately it will all come down to how the final seven starts are distributed. If Emery gets a start, but Stolarz doesn't, then that will suggest that Philadelphia didn't feel this was a good time for Stolarz to debut.
Mar 30 - 11:21 AM

Anthony Stolarz has been called up by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Stolarz will likely spend the remainder of the regular season with Philadelphia because Michal Neuvirth is expected to miss the next three weeks with a lower-body injury. Stolarz has a 2.59 GAA and .916 save percentage in 42 AHL contests this season.
Mar 21 - 9:13 AM

Anthony Stolarz was recalled on an emergency basis as Michal Neuvirth has fallen ill to a stomach virus.

The 22-year-old netminder has posted a 19-14-6 record with a .917 save percentage and a 2.54 GAA in his second season with AHL Lehigh Valley.
Mar 12 - 1:33 PM

Anthony Stolarz has been sent to AHL Lehigh Valley.

This move corresponds with the Flyers taking Michal Neuvirth (lower body) off of the injured reserve list. Stolarz didn't end up playing for the Flyers during his NHL stint.
