Nov 17 - 1:41 PM

Anthony Stolarz has been returned to AHL Lehigh Valley.

The Philadelphia Flyers have recalled Anthony Stolarz from the minors.

The Flyers loaned Rob Zepp to their AHL team in Lehigh Valley to make room for Stolarz on their roster.

Feb 25 - 5:41 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers have called up Anthony Stolarz.

Steve Mason (knee) and Ray Emery (lower body) are both projected to miss Tuesday's contest, so the Flyers needed another goaltender. Stolarz is expected to serve as Rob Zepp's understudy. Mason should return on Thursday or Saturday, so Stolarz's stint in the NHL is expected to be brief.
Feb 23 - 6:47 PM

Anthony Stolarz has been sent to the minors.

Philadelphia summoned Stolarz when Steve Mason suffered a knee injury because their first choice for a replacement, Rob Zepp, was also hurt. Zepp has recovered though, so that's why Stolarz has been sent down.
Feb 16 - 4:43 PM

The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to call up Anthony Stolarz in the near future.

Steve Mason is dealing with a lower-body injury and the Flyers' preferred call up, Rob Zepp, is also hurt. Aside from Ray Emery, that leaves Stolarz as the only healthy goaltender under contract. Stolarz, 21, has a 3.04 GAA and .911 save percentage in 22 AHL games. "Is he ready for this level?" Flyers GM Ron Hextall said. "Probably not." With that in mind, we anticipate Stolarz primarily warming the bench.
Feb 9 - 5:36 AM

Anthony Stolarz is nearly ready to start his first professional season after he had hip surgery in May.

He expects to be 100 percent shortly and Philadelphia GM Ron Hextall said Stolarz is slated to skate on Tuesday as he continues his rehab. Stolarz is excited to start his pro career after playing the last two seasons in the OHL with London. "Everyone looks forward to it. It is a huge step in my career," he said. "For me, it is going out there and continuing to get better. Just go and try to win as many games as we can. Moving to Lehigh Valley, having a new group of guys coming in, younger guys are coming in that I know. It is going to be a fun year and we are going to succeed the best we can."

Anthony Stolarz, the projected starting goalie for the Flyers' AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley next season and a top Philadelphia prospect, had hip surgery last month and needed additional time to recover, but should be cleared to resume on-ice activities in about a month.

That's the word from Flyers' general manager Ron Hextall. Stolarz, a 20-year-old from Jackson, New Jersey, who was the Flyers' second-round pick in 2012, met with reporters at the Flyers' developmental camp the other day and talked at length about his skate cut injury last season but never mentioned he had hip surgery in the offseason.

Anthony Stolarz has a lot of respect for Martin Brodeur.

When it comes to puck-handling, Stolarz has tried to model his game after Brodeur's. "Obviously, as a goalie you want to go out there and help the defensemen and play the puck," Stolarz said. "That makes their job a lot easier. For [Brodeur's] age, the way the game has progressed and how much faster it's gotten, he hasn't had to change his style. He still wins hockey games at the age of 40. It's pretty amazing." Stolarz had a 2.52 GAA and .926 save percentage in 35 OHL games in 2013-14.

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Anthony Stolarz is close to returning after missing more than a month due to a skate cut.

Stolarz needed 55 stitches as a result. He has a 2.58 GAA and .925 save percentage in 30 OHL games this season. "He was pretty fortunate," Flyers goalie coach Jeff Reese said. "For him, it's kinda a blessing in disguise. He gets a little bit of a rest going in and they got the Memorial Cup in London. He's going to have a long playoff and long run with the Memorial Cup. He'll be fresh and ready to go."

Anthony Stolarz is expected to spend the 2013-14 campaign with the OHL London Knights.

Stolarz was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and has been attending their development camp. "I think my patience is something I've worked on," he said. "Rebound control. Those are two things that I worked on with [goalie coach] Jeff Reese this week, and I think from Day 1 when I was here at development camp last year 'til now, it’s tremendously improved." He's one of the Flyers top goaltending prospects, but he will probably need some seasoning in the AHL after his time with London is complete.

The Knights trail Barrie 3-1 in the OHL championship with Game 5 set for Friday night. The Flyers drafted Stolarz with one of the picks they acquired from Columbus in the Sergei Bobrovsky deal. He's expected to be back with London next year.
