Steven Oleksy has signed a two-way, one-year deal with the Penguins.
Oleksy will get $325,000 when he plays in the NHL and $250,000 when he skates in the AHL. Oleksy appeared in only one game in the NHL this past season and over three years has 62 unremarkable games to his credit. Needless to say, Oleksy has no fantasy value. Jul 1 - 4:12 PM

Steven Oleksy can become an unrestricted free agent in July, but he hopes to stay in Washington.

"I would do anything to remain in Washington," he said. "I love it here, I love the people, organization wise, not just the players, but the coaching staff and the PR people and everybody there has been amazing to me. I've never felt more comfortable in a locker room." Oleksy appeared in just one game with the Capitals in 2014-15 and he's played 62 matches in total with the big club over the past three years.

Feb 18 - 2:41 PM

Steven Oleksy hasn't played NHL hockey since Jan. 4th, 2014, but in tonight's game he'll be paired with Mike Green to form Washington's third defensive unit.

Through 61 career NHL games, the 29 year old Michigan native has three goals and 19 points with 86 PIMs. And in 199 career AHL games since 2010-11, Oleksy has 58 points and 323 PIMs. So if you need a tough guy for your blue line, Oleksy could prove to be a stealthy selection.

The Washington Capitals have recalled Steven Oleksy from the minor leagues

Oleksy has yet to crack the Capitals lineup in the 2014-2015 season and is expected to be a healthy scratch in Wednesday's game in San Jose. He did, however, play in 33 games for the Caps last year and is hoping to get on the ice during the team's upcoming road trip. Regardless, he has little to no fantasy value.

The Washington Capitals have sent Steven Oleksy to the minors.

The blueliner has spent a lot of time traveling between Washington and Hershey of the AHL as he has been up and down twice this week. He is certainly adding to his air miles program.

The Washington Capitals have sent Steven Oleksy back to the minors.

Olesky got the proverbial cup of coffee as he was recalled on Saturday only to be sent down on Sunday. He was a healthy scratch on Saturday but at least got to eat some popcorn in the press box.

The Capitals waived defenseman Steven Oleksy Monday with the hope that the 28-year-old will clear waivers in exchange for further clarity on their blue line.

Washington had four defensemen vying for two open roster spots - Oleksy, Nate Schmidt, John Erskine and Jack Hillen. Both Erskine and Oleksy were healthy scratches for a Sunday game. Schmidt is the only one of the four who is waiver-exempt, and he'll likely be demoted to AHL Hershey to begin the season.
