Alex Chiasson registered an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout win over Calgary.

He earned his first helper of the season on a goal by Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Chiasson has contributed two points in nine games this season

Alex Chiasson expected to be more productive than he was in 2014-15.

Chiasson had 26 points in 76 games last season, down from 35 points in 79 contests in 2013-14 when he was still with the Dallas Stars. "From the season I had the year before in Dallas, I thought I was going to come in and be more explosive, a little more offensive," Chiasson says. "Obviously that didn't happen. A lot has to do with confidence. It's hard when you get opportunities and feel like you can't finish. I think it's been a good summer for me to work on my legs, work on my speed." His struggles likely literally cost him as an arbitrator assigned him a $1.2 million salary for the 2015-16 campaign after he requested $2.475 million. The arbitrator's ruling was far closer to Ottawa's counter of $1 million.

Alex Chiasson’s arbitration ruling is a win for the Senators.

He will be paid $1.2 million for one year. The 24-year-old was part of the trade that sent Jason Spezza to the Stars last offseason. He had 11 goals and 26 points in 2014-15. The restricted free agent sought $2.475 million, while the Senators offered $1 million. "The arbitration process went as we expected - we had the opportunity to make our case, as did Alex’s group," general manager Bryan Murray said. "In our opinion, both sides made fair, detailed arguments and we are satisfied with the ruling of the arbitrator. We are happy to have Alex under contract and anticipate that he will be a productive player for us this season. Alex will be given the chance to have an important role in the team’s success."

According to the Ottawa Citizen, Alex Chiasson may be in a battle with Chris Neil for a spot at Right Wing.

Chiasson was awarded a one-year deal worth $1.2 million in arbitration early Sunday morning, but an every day-spot in the lineup isn't guaranteed for him. Ottawa has Milan Michalek, Bobby Ryan and Curtis Lazar on the right side already. At this point in their careers, Chiasson should have no problem beating Chris Neil out of a spot on the roster.
Jul 26 - 9:25 AM

Alex Chiasson has been awarded $1.2 million in arbitration.

Chiasson was asking for $2.475 million while the Senators were countering with $1 million. The 24-year-old had a disappointing first season for Ottawa, as he finished with just 11 goals and 26 points in 76 games.
Jul 26 - 8:37 AM

Alex Chiasson has filed an arbitration request of $2,475,000.

Ottawa has counted with a $1 million offer. He had 26 points and 67 penalty minutes in 76 contests in 2014-15. His arbitration date is Thursday.
Jul 21 - 12:05 PM

Alex Chiasson's arbitration date is set for July 23.

Chiasson had 26 points and 67 penalty minutes in 76 games in 2014-15. He's one of the players Ottawa acquired in the Jason Spezza trade last summer.
Jul 13 - 6:06 PM

Senators' forward Alex Chiasson has filed for salary arbitration.

Chiasson was acquired from the Dallas Stars in the Jason Spezza trade last off-season. His first year in Ottawa was somewhat disappointing as he finished the season with just 11 goals and 26 points in 76 games. The 24-year-old and his team still have time to hammer out a new deal before arbitration hearings begin on July 20th.
Jul 5 - 6:35 PM

Down 3-1 in their series with Montreal, Alex Chiasson will tag back in for Chris Neil in Game Five on Friday night. Chiasson will skate to the right of Milan Michalek and Zack Smith on the fourth line.

Unfortunately, neither tough forward has been much of a factor in Ottawa's ability to win a game. Chiasson averaged 14 shits worth 7:09 with two shots and no points in his first two games, which is not materially different than Neil's contributions.
Apr 24 - 6:12 PM

The Senators will insert Zach Smith for veteran David Legwand for Game 4 Wednesday night versus the Canadiens. The rest of the lineup will remain the same from Game 3.

As Ottawa is hanging on for their lives down 3-0 to the Canadiens, Ottawa head coach Dave Cameron will try to gain some speed by inserting Smith for Legwand. Other than that move, the rest of the lineup will be unchanged, which means the following players will all watch from the press box with Legwand: Alex Chaisson, Frederick Claesson, Jared Cowen, Chrid Driedger, Colin Greening, Shane Prince, Matt Puempel, Buddy Robinson, and Chris Wideman.

Alex Chiasson will be scratched for Game Three against Montreal on Sunday night.

Chris Neil will step into Chiasson's fourth line slot for his first game since mid-February. Chiasson recorded just two shots and seven hits with no points in just over 14 minutes of work during the first two games of the series.
Apr 19 - 6:14 PM

Alex Chiasson was on the fourth line in Game 1, but he moved up to the second line at practice on Thursday.

He got the promotion because of Mark Stone's injury. Chiasson may start Game 2 alongside Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan as a result.
Apr 16 - 6:31 PM

Alex Chiasson played alongside Kyle Turris on Mark Stone on Monday night.

He was promoted because Milan Michalek was dealing with "headaches" and he recorded the game-winning goal in a 5-2 win over San Jose. Chiasson has a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists) and he stands a better chance of extending that if he remains with Turris and Stone for Thursday's game versus the Rangers.
Mar 25 - 10:43 AM

Alex Chiasson scored a goal and an assist in Ottawa's 7-2 win over Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.

The goal was about as lucky as it gets, but that's not to say Chiasson didn't put himself into position to score. He was in the high slot when he received Erik Condra's pass and has his shot heavily deflected off of Rob Klinkhammer's stick and behind Richard Bachman. Chiasson now has nine goals and 14 points on the year.
