The Gordie Howe hat trick is a goal, an assist and a fight and Chiasson actually did better than that as he had a pair of helpers. Chiasson has five goals and 10 points this season with 19 penalty minutes.

Alex Chiasson tallied the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 victory over Boston.

He found the back of the net shortly after David Pastrnak gave the Bruins some momentum by tying the game early in the third period. Chiasson has contributed three goals and five points in 23 games this year.

The former member of the Senators earned assists on goals by Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan in the contest. Chiasson has one goal and three points in nine games this year with the Flames.
Oct 29 - 10:30 AM

Alex Chiasson moved up to the Flames' top line at Wednesday's practice.

He skated alongside Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau during the session. Chiasson scored in Calgary's season opener, but he has been held without a point in the last three contests.
Oct 19 - 1:52 PM

Alex Chiasson is looking to crack the Calgary Flames lineup and is happy to have Glen Gulutzan as his head coach once again.

Chiasson played for Gulutzan in Dallas but was traded to Ottawa while Gulutzan was eventually let go by the Stars. The duo is back together in Calgary after the Flames hired Gulutzan in the off-season and traded for Chiasson shortly thereafter. "I feel like the style of play like Glen uses … I know what he’s going to be asking out of me," he said. "I think, for me, it’s to go back to what made me successful in the net and on the forecheck. At the same time, I know from talking to (Gulutzan), things aren’t going to be handed to me." Chiasson had only eight goals and 14 points in 77 games for the Senators last season so he certainly is not going to get anything handed to him.

Sep 25 - 6:15 AM

Alex Chiasson played well for new Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan when he was in Dallas.

He scored six goals and added one assist in just seven games during a brief look with the Stars in the spring of 2013. Chiasson hasn't come close to resembling that same player since then. "I think I need to get that swagger back in my game," Chiasson said. "Look at some other players — for instance, (Johnny) Gaudreau in Calgary ... He's playing with swagger. That's one of the things that makes him successful. He just goes out there and plays the way he has to play. I mean, obviously he has a lot of talent. But I think for me, it's the same thing — just not to be as robotic. Go out there and follow the system, but also follow my instincts." He was acquired from Ottawa on Monday and will look to get himself back on the right track next year.
Jun 28 - 12:07 PM

Calgary has acquired Alex Chiasson from Ottawa in exchange for defenseman Pat Sieloff.

The Flames have also signed Chiasson to a one-year contract worth $800,000. He registered eight goals and 14 points in 77 games with the Senators last year.
Jun 27 - 4:10 PM

Don't be surprised if the Senators deal Alex Chiasson this weekend.

He has been on the trade block for some time and there seemed to be some interest in him Friday night as the NHL amateur draft got underway. The Sens may be looking at obtaining a late draft pick in exchange for the 25-year-old winger who has been a disappointment in Ottawa after a brief but fairly successful stay in Dallas.
Jun 25 - 10:20 AM

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun believes Alex Chiasson could be on the move this summer.

Chiasson was acquired in the Jason Spezza trade with Dallas back in 2014, but he's failed to make an impression since landing in Ottawa. The 25-year-old is coming off an eight goal and 14-point season in 2015-16 and it wouldn't be surprising to see him dealt to another team. Chiasson will be a restricted free agent on July 1st. He could be an intriguing low-risk acquisition.

May 29 - 10:04 AM

A goal by Ottawa forward Alex Chiasson at 11:39 of the third period broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Senators a 2-1 victory over the Jets in Winnipeg Wednesday night.

The win ended a three-game losing streak for the Sens. A loss Wednesday would have eliminated them from playoff contention. Chiasson's goal was his eighth of the season. Zack Stone also scored for Ottawa, his 22nd of the season.
Mar 30 - 11:13 PM

Alex Chiasson picked up a goal and a fight during Friday's 3-1 loss to Buffalo.

Chiasson picked up his sixth goal and 12th point of the season through 67 games this season. He also fought Rasmus Ristolainen mid way through the game for a fiver in the PIMs column, giving him 43 for the season.
Mar 18 - 10:52 PM

Alex Chiasson knows he might be traded before Monday's deadline.

"It's not easy," he said. "I think the best part of it is just to be at the rink. You're here, you do what you want, you do what you love and you're around the guys." Chiasson can be a restricted free agent at the end of the year, but it's unclear if there will be any takers. He has five goals and four assists in 56 games.
Feb 25 - 8:31 AM

Alex Chiasson may get another chance to play alongside Kyle Turris and Mike Hoffman.

Chiasson skated with Turris and Hoffman in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Avalanche and he might get another opportunity Saturday against the Blue Jackets. Needless to say, if Chiasson can hold down this gig his fantasy value will get a boost. Bobby Ryan was moved to a line featuring Mika Zibanejad and Shane Prince to accommodate Chiasson.
