Alex Chiasson didn't travel with the Stars to St. Louis after Rich Peverley (heart) collapsed on the bench during Monday's game.

Chiasson was shaken up by the incident and it was decided that the best course of action was to let the 23-year-old rookie stay in Dallas. Chiasson, who was also taken to the hospital, is reportedly fine Tuesday despite the emotional toll. Meanwhile, Peverley is resting comfortably while he undergoes testing.

Alex Chiasson feels healthier and stronger following the Olympic break.

He weighed 187 pounds on Christmas, but he tips the scales at 202 pounds now. "It was good for me," said Chiasson, who lost weight when he was stricken with strep throat in December. "I feel better, healthy. I have put on most of the weight and I feel stronger." The rookie forward registered nine points, including five goals, in his first nine games and had 15 points after 26 contests. In his last 30 outings, he has picked up just 10 points. He could be a candidate to finish the season strong.

Alex Chiasson is expected to get back some weight and regain the energy he lost during the Olympic break because of an illness he had earlier this season.

"He was probably the longest conversation I had, because it's been a trying year for him," coach Lindy Ruff said. "But he's a young player who has to battle through that. I told him you've got to think positive, think the net is big, and if you keep going, it's going to go in." The rookie winger entered the break with no goals and one assist in his last 10 contests. Chiasson has nine goals and 25 points in 56 games this campaign.

Rich Peverley, Alex Goligoski, Vernon Fiddler and Tyler Seguin picked up the helpers.
