Tobias Rieder collected his first multi-goal game of the season on Thursday night, however Arizona would fall to Columbus 7-5.

With two goals and four hits through 17:37 of work, Rieder did about as much as he could to help spur Arizona to victory. Alas, he'll have to settle for a sum of eight goals and 17 points through 31 games while shooting 10%.

Tobias Rieder has impressed coach Dave Tippett with his play despite not scoring a goal in the last month.

Rieder has five goals and 13 points in 26 games this season after a 13 goal and 21 point campaign last season. "He’s a very unheralded player but a very solid player," Tippett said. "He’s today’s NHL player where he plays fast, he’s smart, has good skill. I think we’ve probably overused him at times because of some injuries and trying to get competitive. But he’s going to be a real good, solid player for a long time. Just does a lot of things right that sometimes go unnoticed." Rieder has struggled in his last three games with no points and a minus-five rating. Look for him to break loose shortly. He is worth looking at in deep pools only.

Tobias Rieder ended his six game point drought when tapped home a goal in Fridays' 4-3 loss to Vancouver.

Rieder had a quiet game, but was used in all situations as he skated 20:21 with over five minutes spent on special teams. Rieder isn't known for his ability to score, but perhaps that will change this season. He now has four goals, six points, and 33 shots on net through 11 games thus far.

Tobias Rieder wants to contribute more offensively this season.

"I've been working on that in the summer. I've been working on my shot, and I obviously want to create more stuff offensively," he said. "But you always gotta take care of your own end first, but I do want to improve." Rieder earned 13 goals and 21 points in 72 games last season, but he has the offensive upside to be better.

Tobias Rieder picked up his first career international point when he assisted on Michael Wolf's goal mid way through the first on Saturday.

Rieder, a native of Landshut, Germany, was playing in his first career international game as well. The former 114th overall pick by Edmonton in the 2011 draft had a nice rookie campaign this season for Arizona, scoring 13 goals and 21 points in 72 games.

Tobias Rieder potted the only goal for Arizona in its 3-1 loss to the Penguins on Saturday night.

He also had six shots on net, a team high. Rieder’s goal was the first of the game, and it came shorthanded 1:34 into the contest. It looks like he will become a solid offensive player in time, but right now he’s just showing glimpses, with 12 goals and 19 points in 62 games. David Moss had the assist.
