Nate Schmidt has stuck with the Washington Capitals so far this season.

The Capitals have been missing Dmitry Orlov (wrist) and John Erskine (neck) all season, so that's been a big factor in the Capitals' decision to keep Schmidt. Even still, Washington has used Schmidt sparingly, giving him just 14:02 minutes of ice time per game. He has three assists and 10 penalty minutes in 32 contests in 2014-15.

Nate Schmidt has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal.

Schmidt had two goals and six points in 29 games with Washington in 2013-14. Given that Washington already has eight defensemen signed to one-way contracts, we don't like Schmidt's chances of making the team's opening game roster.
