Nate Schmidt has agreed to a two-year, one-way extension.
Schmidt will make $750,000 next season and $875,000 in 2016-17. That sets the stage for him to spend the 2015-16 campaign with the Capitals, although we wouldn't be surprised if it's as the team's seventh defenseman. Even if he does play regularly, he probably won't do enough offensively to warrant picking up in standard leagues. Jun 17 - 11:33 AM

Nate Schmidt has stuck with the Washington Capitals so far this season.

The Capitals have been missing Dmitry Orlov (wrist) and John Erskine (neck) all season, so that's been a big factor in the Capitals' decision to keep Schmidt.
