Troy Grosenick has been sent to the minors.

Grosenick was called up because Martin Jones has been sidelined with a lower-body injury. Jones' injury isn't believed to be serious, so perhaps he'll be ready after the All-Star break. If not, Grosenick will be recalled.

According to the AHL website, the San Jose Sharks have announced that goaltender Troy Grosenick has been recalled from the AHL.

Grosenick hasn't appeared in a NHL game since the 2014-15 season. He has a 5-7-2 record in the AHL this season with a 2.91 goals against average and .900 save percentage. News has broken that Martin Jones is day-to-day with a minor injury.

Coach Peter DeBoer wants Troy Grosenick to compete with Aaron Dell for the backup job in San Jose this season.

The order will be tall as Dell was terrific last season as the backup to Martin Jones. Grosenick struggled on Saturday as he gave up three goals on six shots to the Coyotes before settling down and stopping 21 of the last 22 shots directed his way. Grosenick inked a two-year/two-way contract with the Sharks in June so don't be surprised if he is with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL at the start of the season.

Troy Grosenick has agreed to a two-year, two-way contract with the San Jose Sharks.

At the NHL level Grosenick will come with a $650,000 annual cap hit. The 27-year-old goaltender is coming off a strong season in the AHL where he posted a 2.04 GAA and .926 save percentage in 49 contests. If Aaron Dell is selected by Vegas in the expansion draft then there's a chance that Grosenick will take over the backup gig in San Jose for the 2017-18 campaign.

Troy Grosenick has been reassigned to the minors by the San Jose Sharks.

Grosenick was serving as the Sharks' temporary backup while Alex Stalock got in some work in the minors. Grosenick didn't end up getting any ice time with the Sharks.

The San Jose Sharks have recalled Troy Grosenick from the AHL in place of Alex Stalock.

This move is less about Grosenick than it is about Stalock. As Coach DeBoer puts it, "With the Barracuda playing in San Jose this week, it offered us the opportunity for him to get some minutes." Stalock hasn't started since Dec. 18th. Grosenick meanwhile hasn't be good for the Barracudas this season, posting a 7-4-2 record with a 3.03 GAA and .902 save percentage in 16 games.

The San Jose Sharks have re-signed Troy Grosenick to a two-year deal worth $1.2M.

Interestingly, the deal is a two-way contract during 2015-16 and a one-way deal the following season. Grosenick, who turns 26-years-old in August, had another good season for AHL Worcester last season as he went 20-13-3 with a .906 save percentage, and a 2.63 GAA.

Troy Grosenick has been sent to the minors.

Grosenick was called up on Nov. 12 to help fill the void while Alex Stalock was recovering from a lower-body injury. He had a 1.53 GAA and .948 save percentage in two contests with San Jose before suffering an upper-body injury on Nov. 25. He's healthy now, but so are Antti Niemi and Stalock, so that's why Grosenick is heading back to the AHL.

The San Jose Sharks have place goaltender Troy Grosenick on the injured reserve list with an upper body injury.

Although the Sharks are saying upper body, it appeared that Grosenick suffered a head injury during Tuesday's practice as he was seen taking a shot off his helmet. Once he is able to return, he will be sent back to the minors as Alex Stalock is back and Antti Niemi is healthy.

The San Jose Sharks have to be concerned that the injury suffered by Troy Grosenick could be a concussion.

The Sharks say that the netminder suffered an undisclosed injury but he was seen taking a shot of his helmet in practice on Tuesday and woke up Wednesday not feeling well. We shall see but with Alex Stalock scheduled to return, the Sharks will not need to call up another goalie.

After Troy Grosenick was injured in Tuesday's practice, the Sharks were forced to reach out for a local emergency backup goalie to Antti Niemi on Wednesday.

Talk about a resume filler, eh Ryan Lowe? The 31 year old netminder of Rendando, CA, now residing in San Jose, last played profressionally for the Sydney Bears in the AIHL. The contract type is a Professional Tryout.

Troy Grosenick suffered an undisclosed injury at Tuesday's practice.

That explains why he wasn't on the ice for Wednesday's session. Alex Stalock was on the ice, but he isn't ready to return yet.

Sharks goaltender Troy Grosenick wasn't able to follow-up his fantastic career debut with another victory, as he suffered a 4-1 loss to Buffalo Tuesday night.

Grosenick surrendered three goals on just 13 shots in Tuesday's defeat, a far cry from his 45-save shutout effort on Sunday. Brought up to serve as Antti Niemi's backup while Alex Stalock nurses his injury, the 25-year-old has no guarantee of regular playing time going forward.

Troy Grosenick will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

The decision to start Grosenick is surprising in the sense that he's a 25-year-old goaltender who just made his debut on Sunday and was only called up to temporarily serve as Antti Niemi's backup. However, when you factor in that he's coming off of a 45-save shutout, it's not shocking that coach Todd McLellan would decide he's deserving of another start.
