Chad Ruhwedel will be a healthy scratch in Wednesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.

He has just one assist in 18 games with the Penguins this season. It'll be his second straight game in the press box.
Nov 22 - 6:41 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that Chad Ruhwedel and Josh Archibald will be scratched tonight against the Blackhawks.

Despite the Penguins dropping last night's contest in OT to the Blues, they have elected to make no lineup changes tonight. Ruhwedel and Archibald have no fantasy upside.
Oct 5 - 8:14 PM

Chad Ruhwedel will be a healthy scratch in Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Blues.

Ruhwedel had two goals and eight assists in 34 games during the regular season and he also suited up in six games during Pittsburgh's Stanley Cup run last year. The 27-year-old won't carry any fantasy value this season. Josh Archibald will also be scratched tonight.
Oct 4 - 8:10 PM

Chad Ruhwedel has re-signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins to a two-year, $1.3 million contract.

Ruhwedel had two goals and 10 points in 34 games in 2016-17. When everyone is healthy, Ruhwedel will probably serve as the seventh defenseman, but he's an inexpensive and solid option for that role.
Jun 22 - 4:39 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) has declared himself available for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

That doesn't necessarily mean that Ruhwedel will draw into the lineup, but it gives the Penguins another option. He has no points and a minus-three rating in six playoff games.
May 28 - 1:49 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) skating with the Penguins Thursday morning.

Ruhwedel was wearing a non-contact jersey though. He won't play in Game 7 Thursday night, but if the Penguins advance then there is a chance he'll be available for the Stanley Cup Final.
May 25 - 12:26 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) will not play in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Ruhwedel stayed in Pittsburgh to continue his rehab after he was concussed in Game 4 against the Ottawa Senators. Coach Mike Sullivan said that the Penguins defender is making some progress.
May 23 - 12:24 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) skated by himself on Monday.

Ruhwedel suffered a concussion during Game 4 on Friday. The fact that he's already skating is encouraging, but it would still be surprising to see him play on Tuesday.
May 22 - 2:18 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (concussion) won't play in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Sunday afternoon.

Ruhwedel was injured in Game 4 after taking a hit from Senators forward Bobby Ryan. It's a tough loss for the Penguins, who are already without blue liners Kris Letang and Justin Schultz. Look for Mark Streit or Derrick Pouliot to take Ruhwedel's spot in the lineup.
May 20 - 11:39 AM

Chad Ruhwedel suffered a concussion in Friday's 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Ruhwedel was hurt after being hit into the boards by Senators forward Bobby Ryan. He never returned to the game. Pittsburgh was already missing Kris Letang and Justin Schultz in the match, so losing another blueliner is far from ideal for them. Ruhwedel is considered day-to-day for now.
May 20 - 1:34 AM

Chad Ruhwedel skated alongside Ian Cole in Game 7 against Washington.

Cole had been playing with Justin Schultz before that, but Olli Maatta took his place. Coach Mike Sullivan may use the same combinations in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against Ottawa on Saturday night. Ruhwedel filled in for injured blueliner Trevor Daley for Games 6 and 7 versus the Capitals. Daley is listed as day-to-day.
May 13 - 10:20 AM

Chad Ruhwedel (upper body) took part in Monday's practice.

Ruhwedel will be a game-time decision in Game 1 on Wednesday, per Penguins coach Mike Sullivan. He had two goals and 10 points in 34 regular season games.
Apr 24 - 4:19 PM

Chad Ruhwedel (upper body) joined the Penguins for Sunday's practice.

Ruhwedel wasn't available for the first round of the playoffs. "Just practice and trying to get in the game shape again, and hopefully get to do some more battle drills coming up in the near future," Ruhwedel reported. It remains to be seen if he'll be available for Game 1 of the second round.
Apr 23 - 5:05 PM

Chad Ruhwedel skated on his own Saturday as he has an upper body injury.

Ruhwedel has missed the opening series of the playoffs but had he been healthy he likely would have been a healthy scratch. The defenseman is a depth player but you need those players in the playoffs as there are always plenty of injuries.
