Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne are planning to get together shortly.

The longtime friends will likely discuss their plans for next season and the possibility of playing on the same team. Anaheim toyed with the idea of bringing Kariya into the fold before the 2010-11 campaign, but he missed the entire year with post-concussion syndrome. Selanne is expected to weigh his options again this summer, but having Kariya alongside him could help make the decision to come back easier. This could be an interesting situation to watch during the off-season if Kariya is healthy enough to resume his career.

Paul Kariya (concussion) still has not ruled out coming back to the NHL next season.

Kariya sat out this season to recover from post-concussion syndrome. Kariya had dinner with some former Blues' teammates on Tuesday in Los Angeles. "It seemed like he was doing good," defenseman Barret Jackman said. "His main goal is get back to feeling 100 percent physically. He's enjoying some time off ... same old Paul. It was nice to see him." Kariya is still not 100 percent so his comeback is questionable at best. Stay tuned.

Paul Kariya will not play in the 2010-11 season due to post-concussion syndrome.

The 35-year-old veteran is still an unrestricted free agent. He had been attracting interest from his former team in Anaheim, but this news will certainly bring those talks to an end.

Paul Kariya's agent Don Baizley said there is "nothing to report" regarding his client's progress in joining another NHL team as a free agent.

The Anaheim Ducks are busy trying to add a defenseman to their ranks and getting a contract on the books for restricted free agent Bobby Ryan, so talks with Kariya could be held off until those needs are met first.

If progress is being made towards Paul Kariya signing in Anaheim then both sides are doing a good job of keeping the negotiations quiet.

Teemu Selanne has spoken with Kariya about the possibility of playing for the Ducks and GM Bob Murray is open to the idea, but his agent, Don Baizley, and Murray have remained mum on the topic of contract talks. Murray is trying to bring in another defenseman, so his attention may be divided as well. We'll keep you posted.

Teemu Selanne, who is reportedly close to re-signing with the Ducks, has approached free agent Paul Kariya about the possibility of reuniting.

"I've talked to Paul and the Ducks," said Selanne. "Paul has been waiting for my decision and I hope things move forward." A Selanne, Kariya, and Saku Koivu line would certainly be interesting, though we can't see all three staying healthy for an entire season.

The St. Louis Blues have named Dave Taylor as their new director of player personnel.

Taylor was the GM of the Los Angeles Kings from 1997-2006 and then was the director of player personnel for the Dallas Stars from 2007-10. He will help out GM Doug Armstrong as the two previously worked together in Dallas.

Paul Kariya still isn't 100% committed to playing next season.

Kariya is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. "I'm going to take some time and evaluate things," Kariya said. "As you get older, I think it's important to really sit back and see where you're at, and what kind of game you can contribute to a team. I've got really high expectations of myself and I'm very disappointed that we're not in the playoffs, and the way I played. I'm going to make sure I take the time to evaluate it." Kariya seemed pleased with how his legs felt in the second half of the season, but he still may end up retiring. If Kariya decides to continue, he still has something left to offer teams. He scored 18 goals and 43 points in 75 games this season, and he could do a bit better in 2010-11.
