Pens' prospect Anton Zlobin is happy to be back on the ice at development camp after returning from shoulder surgery suffered early last season.
"It (was) a tough time. It (was) my second surgery in almost three years," Zlobin said. "If I get an injury a third time, it's going to be awful for me." Zlobin has average size and speed, but had a knack for scoring big goals in junior. The Pens hope he can stay healthy to challenge for a spot. Jul 18 - 1:44 PM

Anton Zlobin scored the winner to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins prospects to a 4-3 win over Ottawa Saturday.

Zlobin was a sixth round pick in the 2012 Draft and the 21-year-old Russian managed 13 goals and 30 points last season that was split between the AHL and the ECHL. He started slowly last season as he had a shoulder injury that forced him to miss prospects camp so more is expected of him this season. He should spend the season in the minors but could get a cup of coffee in the NHL if the Penguins have a flurry of injuries.

Anton Zlobin made his North American professional debut for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last Sunday.

Zlobin underwent off season surgery on his shoulder. Baby Penguins coach John Hynes was very impressed with Zlobin's quick release. "He's a shooter," Hynes said. "He's got excellent hands and an offensive mindset." Zlobin was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 Draft so he should spend at least the rest of the season in the AHL and probably next season as well.
