Nesterov, who has been serving as an extra defender when the Lightning dress seven blueliners, got some additional minutes because of an injury to Matt Carle. He contributed two assists in Tampa Bay's 6-5 overtime win and will likely fill in for Carle if he can't play Friday.

Nikita Nesterov will dress for Game 2 Monday night in Madison Square Garden.

The Bolts will use the seventh defenseman for Game 2 Monday, which means Vladislav Namestnikov will be scratched. Nesterov has been a valuable asset for Tampa Bay during the 2015 playoffs, chipping in a goal and two helpers in the eight games he’s appeared in. Jonathan Drouin and Mark Barberio will remain healthy scratches. Drouin has played in only three games during the postseason and has yet to record a point while registering an ugly minus four rating in limited ice time. Barberio has yet to place this postseason.

Nikita Nesterov was made a late addition for Tuesday's Game Six against Montreal as Tampa Bay will go with seven defensemen.

Defensemen Nikita Nesterov and Mark Barberio will watch from the press box for Game 3 Wednesday night versus Montreal.

Nesterov has been not dressed against the Canadiens as of yet and with the Lightning taking the first two games of the series in Montreal, we can’t imagine them changing their lineup. He did play in six of the seven games versus Detroit in the first round and scored a goal and two helpers. Barberio has yet to play in a postseason game this season after skating in just two last year. In 52 regular season games, he only picked up a goal and six assists with a minus four rating.
May 6 - 7:11 PM

It looks like the Tampa Bay Lightning will go into game two of their series against Montreal with the same lineup they used in game one.

That would mean that Nikita Nesterov, Mark Barberio and Jonathan Drouin will continue to sit for the Lightning. Tampa Bay is in a good spot right now as they defeated Montreal at the Bell Centre in game one, and they will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead on Sunday.
May 3 - 4:48 PM

The Lightning will elect to dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards for Game 6, which means Nesterov will be back on the ice. Even though Nesterov was a helathy scratch in Game 5, he is still second on the team in scoring during the postseason. He’s registered a goal and two assists from the back-end with four shots on goal while averaging 13:40 of ice time a game. J.T Brown will be a healthy scratch to make room for Nesterov.

Apr 27 - 4:34 PM

Nikita Nesterov is leading the Tampa Bay Lightning in playoff scoring.

He has collected one goal and two assists in three games. "He's definitely grown a lot, especially offensively," said defense partner Anton Stralman. "You can just see that he feels more comfortable out there, he's jumping into spaces, he's carrying the puck well and he's taking steps every game. It's fun to be out there with him and get a close up." He had seven points in 27 contests during the regular season. This is a both a good and a bad sign for the Lightning. Obviously, it's good to see the young blueliner contributing, but it also means that Tampa Bay isn't getting enough offense from its top guns.
Apr 22 - 10:30 AM

Nikita Nesterov tallied a goal in Tampa Bay's 3-2 loss to Detroit in the opening game of the playoffs.

He had three shots and three hits in 17:01 of ice time during his NHL playoff debut. Nesterov started the season in Syracuse of the AHL, but he's become a regular on the back end for the Lightning and he's been seeing ice time on the second power-play unit. Going back to the regular season, the 22-year-old has a four-game point streak (two goals, two assists).
Apr 17 - 10:18 AM

Nesterov's goal at the 5:12 mark of the third period gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead in the game. The 22-year-old finished the season with three goals and seven points in 27 games this season. Nesterov is usually the extra defenseman in Tampa Bay, but with the injuries they've suffered on the blueline, he will probably suit up in the playoffs.
Apr 12 - 12:09 PM

Nikita Nesterov will sit for his fifth straight game on Tuesday night against Florida.

Through 20 games Nesterov has produced four points, 12 PIMs, 12 blocks, and 28 hits. He may not be a fantasy juggernaut, but the talent to be an effective NHL player is certainly there.
