Nikita Nesterov will tag in for the injured Pavel Datsyuk in Saturday's semi-final against Canada.

It'll be Nesterov's World Cup debut as well. He was seen centering the fourth line for Russia in warm-ups, but he's a defender for Tampa Bay, so it's more likely that he'll play a swing-man roll or Russia will roll seven defensemen.

Nikita Nesterov might be signed by time players return from World Cup of Hockey.

"That's the goal," said GM Steve Yzerman referring to new contracts for Nesterov and Nikita Kucherov. He is hopeful to have both players signed before the start of the regular season.

Team Russia has added Nikita Nesterov to its upcoming World Cup roster.

Nesterov is replacing Slava Voynov, who isn't eligible for the tournament because he remains suspended by the NHL. Nesterov had three goals, nine points, and 41 penalty minutes in 57 games last season.
Jul 19 - 5:49 AM

Nikita Nesterov will be a healthy scratch in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final against Pittsburgh.

This isn't exactly breaking news, as he's been a healthy scratch in all but one of the games in this series. The 23-year-old has no goals and one assist in nine postseason games in 2016. Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Condra are also expected to watch the game from the press box.
May 24 - 7:42 PM

Nikita Nesterov is a healthy scratch in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Nesterov has suited up in nine postseason games in 2016, but this will be his third straight game in the press box. Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Condra will also watch from the press box. The Bolts will go with seven defensemen tonight, as Slater Koekkoek will take Marchessault's spot in the lineup.
May 20 - 8:12 PM

Nikita Nesterov could be a healthy scratch Monday night in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.

He stayed on the ice late at the morning skate, which suggests he could be out. The Lightning dressed seven defensemen in Game 1 against Pittsburgh and Nesterov logged just 7:34 of ice time. This adds to the evidence that Anton Stralman could be back in the fold.
May 16 - 12:44 PM

Look for Nikita Nesterov to be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Canadiens.

Nesterov isn't on the ice for the pregame warmup which likely means that he's out for tonight's game. It also looks like Erik Condra and Mike Blunden will watch from the sidelines as well.
Mar 31 - 7:19 PM

Nikita Nesterov will be scratched against the NY Islanders on Friday night.

Through the first 77 games of his career Nesterov has posted just 14 points, 46 blocks, 51 PIMs, and 129 hits. Unfortunately, that's not much production.
Mar 25 - 7:34 PM

Nikita Nesterov will be scratched against Arizona on Saturday night.

Through 48 games this season Nesterov has posted seven points with 26 blocks, 35 PIMs, and 83 hits. Not too shabby for the oft-scratched youngster, but not enough for a roster slot either.

The Tampa Bay Lightning appear to have scratched Nikita Nesterov and Erik Condra for Saturday's game against the Wild.

Nesterov has only two points in 17 games this season, but has shown that he has an offensive side to his game. However, both he and Condra are off the fantasy radar.
Jan 2 - 6:37 PM

Nikita Nesterov will be scratched from Friday's match with Washington.

Nesterov has played in 12 games with no points, 11 blocks, 18 hits, and 19 PIMs. Which does not a fantasy maven make, even for the most ardent Lightning fan.
