Nick Jensen has been summoned up to Detroit.

Jensen has yet to make his NHL debut since being drafted 150th overall in 2009. Through two and half season with AHL Grand Rapids, the 25-year-old has posted just 44 points. So we wouldn't anticipate much fantasy value from him.

Mike Babcock has been impressed with the play of some of his young defensemen, especially Nick Jensen.

"Jensen, to tell you the truth, coming into camp, I didn’t know-I knew who he was, I’d seen him play and all that, but didn’t know-he’s been very good, too." The 24-year-is entering his second pro season after playing four years at St. Cloud State University. Even if he does crack Detroit’s line-up, he isn’t a good bet to score many points. Jensen registered nine assists in 45 games with Grand Rapids in the AHL last season.

Nick Jensen has been turning heads at training camp.

He topped 20 minutes of playing time on Wednesday in preseason action against Pittsburgh and he's displayed some promise on the power play. Coach Mike Babcock has been impressed with the play of young blueliners Jensen, Xavier Ouellet and Alexey Marchenko. The performance by Jensen might be the surprise of training camp, as it didn't take him long to get on Babcock's radar.
