Nick Jensen picked up three assists in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He registered the primary assists on Henrik Zetterberg's first-period goal and Jonathan Ericsson's tally in the second frame. He also helped set up Tomas Tatar's goal in the second period. Jensen finished the game with a plus-2 rating and two hits in 18:05 of ice time. The 27-year-old now has four assists in seven contests this season. He isn't worthy of a pickup in any fantasy league at this time, though. Oct 18 - 10:44 PM

Oct 2 - 2:56 PM

Nick Jensen (thumb) will sit out Detroit's back-to-back preseason set against Toronto.

It's unclear at this time if Jensen will be ready for the regular season, but we know he won't play this week. Jensen contributed 13 points in 49 games with the Red Wings last season, which ranked him second on the team in scoring among defensemen. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Sep 29 - 9:30 AM

Nick Jensen contributed two assists in a 5-4 shootout win over Ottawa on Monday night.

He has produced multi-point efforts in each of his last two contests. Jensen has four goals and 13 points in 46 matches this season.
Apr 4 - 10:06 AM

Nick Jensen netted a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to Toronto Saturday night.

Jensen had his first multi-point game of the season by assisting Gustav Nyquist on his goal in the first period and then scoring one of his own late in the second. Jensen broke a 12-game pointless streak with this effort. His last point came on an assist during the March 10 4-2 win against Chicago. Jensen raised his season totals to four goals and seven assists.
Apr 2 - 12:15 AM

Nick Jensen has inked a two-year, $1.625 million deal with the Detroit Red Wings.

Jensen could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer. This deal represents a raise from his current $587,500 annual cap hit. He has three goals and eight points in 27 contests in 2016-17.
Feb 27 - 11:26 AM

Nick Jensen picked up his eighth point of the season during Sunday's 5-2 win over the Penguins.

It was a beauty too, as he froze Matt Murray with a fake-slapper then walked around him for the easy goal. Jensen now has three goals on the season over 26 games.
Feb 19 - 6:45 PM

Because of the injury to Jonathan Ericsson (wrist), the Red Wings will need their young defensemen to step up down the stretch.

That means guys like Nick Jensen, Xavier Ouellet and Ryan Sproul will need to pick up their play over the last couple of months of the season. "It's unfortunate with what happened because you never want to lose a solid defenseman like Ericsson," Jensen said. "He plays a big role on our team. All us young guys are going to have to pick up the slack. We need to show the coaching staff what you can do and it's time to step up for us young guys." Jensen has played in just 21 games this season. He has two goals and four assists during that span.
Feb 11 - 11:31 AM

Nick Jensen scored a goal in a 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Jensen scored his first career goal by making a nice play to bank the puck in off Cory Schneider. Jensen was a solid point producer at St. Cloud State but he doesn't bring much offensive upside at the NHL level. The former 5th round pick of the Red Wings now has five points in 17 games this season. Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Tatar also scored for Detroit in the loss.
Jan 31 - 10:30 PM

After playing in his 10th game of his season and career on Saturday, Nick Jensen would need to be exposed to waivers if Detroit wanted to return him to the AHL.

Not that the Red Wings seem interested in demoting the 26-year-old defenseman any time soon. "He’s a real good hockey player," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "I know this, every coach that’s coached him – by that I mean the guy running the D – wants to put him back on the ice lots. That’s usually a good sign if you’re a defensemen. He earns trust in coaches because of his play. He’s accountable." That said, the Red Wings are giving Jensen third pairing minutes. He also doesn't have much offensive potential despite the fact that he has four assists in his first 10 games.
Jan 15 - 4:47 AM

Nick Jensen made his NHL debut Tuesday against Florida and earned an assist in a 4-1 loss.

He logged 15:33 of ice time and had two shots on goal. Unfortunately, he felt bad after the contest because he was involved in a collision that injured Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard.
