Valeri Nichushkin has agreed to a two-year contract with CSKA Moscow, according to the KHL team.
The contract is expected to be signed soon. Nichushkin is a restricted free agent and the Stars will retain his NHL rights. "He's only 21 and we're at a time where it might be good for his development," GM Jim Nill said. "My hope is if he leaves that when he returns we have a more mature player." Sep 20 - 10:37 AM

Valeri Nichushkin appears to be heading to the KHL.

He hasn't officially signed with CSKA Moscow yet, but according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman it looks like it's "going down that road." A report surfaced earlier that Nichushkin was ready to sign a two-year contract with the KHL club. He is currently a restricted free agent, so the Stars would retain his rights if he bolted for Russia.
Sep 19 - 4:37 PM

Valeri Nichushkin's agent said that "nothing is done and all options remain open" with rumors swirling that the Dallas winger could end up in the KHL.

A source said that Nichushkin doesn't want to play for coach Lindy Ruff, but he would like to play for the Stars. The report also mentioned that Nichushkin was set to sign two-year deal with CSKA after the team recently acquired his KHL rights from Moscow Dynamo. However, all of this is unconfirmed information and it could just be posturing to get him an NHL contract.

Valeri Nichushkin remains unsigned with training camp set to begin later this week.

He is still in Russia and is looking for a significant raise from the $925,000 annual salary on his entry-level deal. However, the Stars want him to earn a larger pay day first after he registered just nine goals in 79 games last season. Nichushkin could miss the start of practices if he can't agree to terms with Dallas soon.
Sep 19 - 11:55 AM

The Dallas Stars are still working on re-signing restricted free agent Valeri Nichushkin.

Nichushkin is a talented winger with good size and skill, but he's coming off a nine-goal and 29-point season. "His agent and I have had great dialogue," GM Jim Nill said. "We look forward to getting him signed and getting him in here. It’s a big year for him to continue his growth. We have high expectations for him." He has the potential to develop into a point-producing forward.
Aug 24 - 11:27 PM

The Dallas Stars don't think Valeri Nichushkin will opt to play in Russia.

Nichushkin is a restricted free agent and would attract interest from KHL clubs if he was thinking of going that route. Stars GM Jim Nill doesn't see that happening though. "Val's over here training and I don't think there's that issue," Nill said. "Val wants to be in the NHL and he wants to have a good year this year, so I don't think that's possible."
Jul 18 - 1:41 PM

Valeri Nichushkin has received a qualifying offer from the Dallas Stars.

It wouldn't be surprising if he got a "show-me" contract. Nichushkin recorded just nine goals and 29 points in 79 games last season and he still has a great deal to prove at the NHL level. Dallas also retained the negotiation rights to Jamie Oleksiak, Matej Stransky and Maxime Lagace with qualifying offers.
Jun 27 - 1:17 PM

Valeri Nichushkin picked up his first point of the playoffs on Monday night in a 3-2 Game 6 win over St. Louis.

He assisted on a goal by Mattias Janmark to open the scoring in the match. Nichushkin went into the contest with no points in his previous eight postseason outings.
May 10 - 10:02 AM

Valeri Nichushkin will play in Game 4 against the St. Louis Blues.

Nichushkin has been a healthy scratch in three of Dallas' last four games, but the Stars are hoping he'll add some offensive punch to their lineup tonight. He had nine goals and 29 points in 79 games during the regular season.
May 5 - 8:18 PM

Valeri Nichushkin is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday in Game 3 against St. Louis.

Curtis McKenzie will make his NHL playoff debut and Nichushkin will be back in the press box. He has been scratched for two postseason contests already, including Game 1 versus the Blues, and this will be the third game he has watched from the press box.
May 3 - 5:00 PM

Valeri Nichushkin will return to the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blues.

Nichushkin had been a healthy scratch in the last game of the series against Minnesota and in the first game against St. Louis. The 21-year-old is playing again because Patrick Eaves (foot) is hurt. Nichushkin is expected to skate on the Stars' second line with Jason Spezza and Mattias Janmark. He has no points in five games this postseason.
May 1 - 2:57 PM

Valeri Nichushkin will indeed play in Game 2 against St. Louis, now that Patrick Eaves is sidelined with a foot injury.

While Eaves is considered day-to-day, he was seen on crutches on Saturday. Nichushkin has no points through five games this postseason, and just two in 11 career playoff games.
Apr 30 - 1:58 PM

Valeri Nichushkin will lead the Stars' scratches on Friday night in Game 1.

Nichushkin, who is sitting out his second straight game, will be joined by Jordie Benn, Patrik Nemeth, and Jamie Oleksiak.

Coach Lindy Ruff still has faith in Valeri Nichushkin even though he chose not to play him in Game 6 on Sunday.

"Val is working extremely hard. He hasn't had a lot of things go good for him, he hasn't had a lot of breaks," said Ruff. "He hasn't had an alley oop, he hasn't had a redirection, he hasn't had a puck go off of him. But every shift I put him on the ice, that kid works as hard as he can. This a big change for him, too. It's no different than Janmark. I've got a few guys who may be in and out. For Val, it's not about work. Things haven't come his way, but I really believe they will." He didn't have a point in five playoff games before coming out of the lineup.
Apr 25 - 5:56 PM

Valeri Nichushkin ended an eight-game scoreless skid on Thursday.

He earned the lone assist on Jason Dickinson's first career NHL goal. It's been a disappointing season for Nichushkin, who has recorded nine goals and 28 points in 78 games.
