Valeri Nichushkin was selected to represent Team Russia at the upcoming IIHF World Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic.
He missed most of the season following hip surgery but is a bright young talent the Russians want to see on the ice. Nichushkin makes for a nice sleeper pick in hockey pool drafts next season as he has the potential to register 50-plus points if he can stay healthy. Apr 18 - 12:04 PM

Valeri Nichushkin is expected to be back in the Stars lineup Wednesday night versus the Anaheim Ducks.

With the Stars officially eliminated from playoff contention, head coach Lindy Ruff will insert Nichushkin back into the lineup. The 20-year-old winger has played in just six games this season, picking up one assist. He's played in two games since November 6th of 2014 as he missed time due to hip surgery and then was unable to crack the Stars lineup when healthy. In the morning skate, he was on the top line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, so he could be worth a flyer in daily leagues.
Apr 8 - 9:01 PM

Valeri Nichushkin was a healthy scratch Monday.

He played in back-to-back games for Dallas last weekend and earned an assist in his first game back. Nichushkin has been limited to just six games this season because of hip surgery.
Apr 7 - 3:29 PM

Valeri Nichushkin will return to the Dallas lineup Friday night against St. Louis.

It will be the first time the talented youngster will play since he underwent surgery to repair his hip that has kept him out all season. Nichushkin will play on the Stars' fourth line alongside Travis Moen and Colton Sceviour. Considering how long Nichushkin has been out of action, we would wait to see how he does before running to pick him up or activate him.
Apr 3 - 12:47 PM

The Dallas Stars will use Valeri Nichushkin in at least one of their weekend games.

Dallas will play St. Louis on Friday and Nashville on Saturday. Nichushkin hasn't participated in an NHL game since Nov. 6, but he recently completed a three-game AHL conditioning stint. He had been recovering from a hip injury.
Apr 2 - 1:40 PM

Valeri Nichushkin has completed his AHL conditioning assignment.

Nichushkin had three assists in three games with the Texas Stars. Nichushkin, who was dealing with a hip injury, hasn't played in the NHL since Nov. 6. He's worth keeping an eye on though as he could have some fantasy value in 2015-16 if he stays healthy next season.
Apr 2 - 12:40 PM

Valeri Nichushkin is back with Dallas after finishing his conditioning stint in the minors.

He could be in the lineup for the first time since Nov. 6 on Friday, depending on how he feels. If he can't dress on Friday then coach Lindy Ruff hopes to have him in the fold for Saturday's match at Nashville.

Mar 24 - 1:29 PM

The Dallas Stars aren't rushing Valeri Nichushkin back from his hip injury.

Nichushkin underwent hip surgery on November 18th and although he has been working out, he hasn't been able to make a return to the lineup just yet. "I think he’s getting closer," coach Lindy Ruff said. "It’s really a decision that he’s going to have to make on when he feels good enough to play. We felt we were getting close to it last week and we pushed pretty hard, but he felt sore and didn’t feel comfortable." The Stars would like to see Nichushkin play in at least to AHL games before re-joining the big club.
Mar 22 - 10:54 AM

Valeri Nichushkin has seen just four games the season, and has not been expected to return. However that may change as Coach Ruff notes, "It’s his timetable now, when he feels good enough."

That's certainly an encouraging sign. "We thought we had him close a few days ago, but with the harder practices he was starting to feel sore. Kind of backed off a little bit. He’s skating really well. It’s just when it reaches that point when he feels he is going to be good enough to play." Nichushkin amassed 14 goals and 34 points along with 86 hits during his 79-game rookie campaign last season. Be on the look-out for his return.
Mar 20 - 7:12 PM

Valeri Nichushkin is still testing out his surgically repaired hip.

He has been skating with the team in an attempt to return before the end of the season. It was reported last week that he could be available in seven-to-10 days, so consider him day-to-day. Nichushkin hasn't played since Nov. 6 and he's skated in just four contests this campaign.
Mar 17 - 10:50 AM

Valeri Nichushkin (hip) could be seven-to-10 days away from returning to the lineup.

He took part in Monday's practice, wearing a no-contact jersey. Nichushkin will travel with the team. He has been out of action since Nov. 6 and he's played in just four games this year because of a hip issue.
Mar 9 - 1:22 PM

Valeri Nichushkin (hip) will probably go on a conditioning stint before returning to Dallas' lineup.

That time in the minors will likely take place in mid-March, so not too long from now. Nichushkin hasn't played since Nov. 6, so the fact that Dallas is interested in easing him back isn't surprising. Although he's missed most of his sophomore campaign, he's someone to keep in mind going into fantasy drafts as a potential late round pick.
